CAROL SHEA-POMPOUS strikes again! NH has always been a supporter of our military and our way of life, this wannabe politician got into office only due to collateral damage. She lied to my face about our what our military had to say about Iraq and she is lying to the people of NH. She does nothing to keep this country safe or to support our troops that are serving in harm's way. Hurry up November!
- Cathie Chevalier, Hudson, NH

No sure where Tim got his information but as all liberals it is tainted in his favor.
By his logic it is better to not do anything al all and let things go back to pre 9/11 and we will be ok.
I wonder why Hodes was not listed in this report then if that is the case?
What a joke and so is she. She should be ashamed for not taking all of our interests in heart.
Do nothing was the answer for eight years before Bush and look what it got us. Guess in some peoples minds that was ok.
I hope her time in Washington is almost over because the citizens of this state deserve better than nothing which is what she gave.
- Bill B., Pelham

Swiftboating rides again! Another campaign of half-truths from the right that ignores the real issues at stake. The telecom companies that handed over millions of call records without a shred of legal process don't deserve the get-out-of-jail-free card that Bush and his GOP minions want to hand them.
Carol and the Democratic majority need to stick to their guns on this one.
- Len, Goffstown

Thank you, Carol, for standing up for accountability and the rule of law.

Bush wanted absolute blanket amnesty for lawbreakers.

Carol said no.

That's why there is no bill today.

Bush's position is, "Congress has to give unconditional amnesty to certain people and corporations, even though I deny that they ever broke any law, even though I refused to have my Attorney General give them a letter certifying that what I was asking them to do was legal, and won't ever tell you what they did that they're afraid might have been against the law. I reserve the right, however, to accuse Congress of selling out to terrorists, and to make as much of a political stink of it as possible, even though Congress was fully prepared to support a bill which I would have signed if it had included the amnesty that I wanted."

Carol told him to go pound sand.

Good for her.
- Tim, Canterbury

How are they "misrepresenting" your position!?! Look you're sitting at home, right now!!!

There is piece of legislation that, as onerous as it is , needs to be passed for another period of time for the safety of the country.

Get back to Washington and pass the damned thing!
- Barton449, Manchester

I am not at all surprised by this. She talked a good game to get elected and has done nothing to help this state or this nation. You can have those who think they know but in reality do not like Tom from Candia. They are the same ones who would want to know why this nation did not do soemthing to stop a terrorist act if it happened.
If "things" go back to what they were then I guess 9/11 was ok?
I don;t condone all that has happened but I do think we needed to and should continue to do the things necessary to curb terriorism in this country.
I only hope the first district voters have seen the lack of results and send her back to Rochester where she belongs.
- Bill Brewster, Pelham

Wow with responses like this its easy to see why this Republic is on a quick road to nowhere. This is one Conservitive who still remembers The Constituion and the Bill Of rights. Its ok people you can come out from under your beds, the boogy man Terrorist is still just a tool to scare you into submission, to make you give up mopre and more of your rights.
Wake up and take control of your lives, you can protect your self better than the Feds can. Why in Gods name would you want to give these criminals more power over us? Dont they have enough all ready? Stop this madness before its to late.
- Billy, Andover

People like Shea-Porter were elected to stop the war. Once in Washington they realize the complexities of a real war and waffle on their stated goal. Now she will not take a stand against terrorism. This law is rational and much needed to secure our safety from foreign terrorism. It's main intent is to monitor foreign communications that pass through the US. Shea-Porter is more concerned about foreigners rights than she is about protecting Americans. We've seen enough of this America hater.
- Jerry LaCorte, Derry

The expansion of presidential power to snoop without oversight, to incarcerate and torture without conviction, or even trial is just as much a threat to what America is *supposed* to be as any foreign power.

The president has enough power under prior law to do what needs to be done; he just doesnt want to bother with things like courts (even secret ones like FISA courts), and has sought since his ascendancy to expand executive power.

Yes there are threats in the world. There are also threats from within. Close the black sites, close the concentration camps, stop the torture, restore the courts and habeas corpus. It's not the external threats that will defeat America. It's the enemy within.

Where are you people really from? Can't be New Hampshire.

Live free or die, eh?
- Tom, candia

I didn't vote for her, and I disagree with her most of the time, but she's right on this one. If the telecommunications companies did anything illegal, they should be brought to task for that.
- Rich, Derry

The Democratic controlled US House of Representative seems poised to allow a key tool in the war against terror to expire. For political reasons, Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH) and other House members, have not yet extended a bill that is a key tool in the War on Terror.
These people are clearly putting politics ahead of national security, in their refusal to give the President the tools needed to keep up the pressure on the terrorist. Democrats refuse to acknowledge America is in a war for its survival. They tried to refuse the President's request for more troops. Many refuse to acknowledge the troop surge worked. They try to have it both ways, saying they support the troops but constantly try to refuse funding , equipment and other request by the Secretary of Defense and military leaders. How is that supporting the troops?

Carol Shea-Porter and other Democrats just don't seem to understand that if we lose the war on terror, America will not be around to worry about other issues.

War on terror needs to be #1 priority.

As vapid as Bradley's opinion piece was, her response was even more inane. Look, you are a US Congresswoman. Explain your position and defend it. I don't want to hear any whining or fingerpointing, and no one else does either. She says her position is being misrepresented, but she hasn't presented a position!
- Glen, Manchester

Carol:

Yet used to it; its time for you to say good bye to Washington. Enjoy your 2 year vacation and then go to Cuba where you will be appreciated!!
- Geoff, Manchester

Im disapointed as a supporter of Carol. She had better do the right thing to make sure we are safe or she will be going home next time around. Forget the party line, vote to save American's lifes.
