The state's Republican senators split on how to reform the nation's immigration system yesterday. Sen. Judd Gregg voted to keep a sweeping reform package alive. Sen. John Sununu helped defeat it, saying it was too broad and lenient.

Sen. Gregg just will not listen to his constituents. It actually appears that many of the Senators in Washington have little concern with the will of the American people. The people overwhelmingly did not want this bill to even come up for a vote. Americans (and most of the legal aliens in our great country) will not sit still for an amnesty bill. We need to secure our borders (with the military if needed) and enforce hiring laws so there are effectively no jobs available for those in this country. The Americans I talk to are all for legal immigration. However, illegal immigration actually hurts our economy and puts our security at an even greater risk. I have voted for Sen. Gregg since he first ran for office. At this point I would consider voting for a Democrat since I at least know what they do or do not stand for.

Just wondering if Senator Gregg gets to eat dinner with the President at his daddy's house this weekend. It would only be just reward for falling on his sword.

If only, the Senator were up for re-election in 2008 instead of 2010.

Once again I am proud to say that John Sununu is my Senator. Senator Sununu has been right on the most important issues facing us. He reasoned beyond the herd mentality that promoted the Patriot Act making sure that we weren't going to compromize our hard won civil liberties for a little security. He turned back the fraudulently named: "Employee Free Choice" bill which bans secret balloting by employees who are choosing whether or not to join a union. Most recently he has shown that he will not pander to the special interests groups on both the left and right who tried to cram the ill-considered immigrantion bill down the throats of Americans.

Thank you Senator Sununu. I for one will do all that I can to make sure you are returned to office.
- Bill Burns, Bedford

Senator Gregg arguments that he did not support the bill are disingenuous at best. What is more bothersome is that he thinks the voters in New Hampshire are stupid enough to fall for his excuses and double talk. He voted against the will of the NH constituents. This really adds insult to injury. We will not soon forget his treachery. Election Day retirement for Senator Gregg can not come soon enough.

Someone ought to wake Gregg up and let him know that an increase in border agents, detention beds and fencing along the southern border were all voted on and adopted last year.....his buddy GWB wouldn't agree to fund them. Also, we currently have 8 "guest-worker" programs on the books....duh??
He is a liar....he would have voted for the bill as originally written....that is what his Fortune 500 company friends wanted.
He is anti-American worker!!
Dump Gregg - 2010

What Judd Gregg does not seem to understand is that we Americans want our borders secured and blocked off to keep illegal immigrants from entering this great free land until they have met the legal requirements to come here. We already have everything we need to do just that and we will never approve of Gregg's position until that happens. THEN, we can start taking care of dealing with the illegals who have been flooding into our country. In the meantime, surely there must be some good Republican here in NH who would like to run against Gregg and remove him from office permanantly.

To John Sununu, God bless. Stick to your position and thank you very much for listening to your constituants and following through with our desires.
- Milt Farar, Hudson

Senator Sununu got it right when he said the politicos need to build the public confidence before proceeding with sweeping changes to the immigration laws. If we can't, or won't, enforce current immigration laws, there's no reason for me to believe that future laws will be treated differently.

A Tale of two Senators, One, Sen, Sununuwho voted the right way inf the McCain-Bush- Kennedy Open Borders Amnesty bill and Sen Sununu heard the voice of his constituents and vote the right way and then we have Sen. Judas Gregg a known George Bush rump voted in lock step to open our borders to the admittance of more illegals and forgive those who are here illegal. I wish Senator Sununu success in his re-election and as for Sen Judas Gregg I wish a very quick retirement, Bush blew this and Gregg willl be going down with.
Gregg an efete nabob wanted to pardon ilegal aliens so that he could hire some at a cheaper rate to work at his Rye home. Senator Judas Gregg is toast just like his buddy John McCain.
