I agree with Mom from Keene, I am a mother of three, and I have never left my children with a stranger. It is rediculous that the mother was worried about leaving her children with this stranger so much that she called a neighbor to check in. So the neighbor checked in around 2pm, I wonder if that was after mom went to lunch with her girlfriends from work while the babysitter was sluggin' down drinks infront of the kids. Not for nothin, but money is not worth anything when you are dead, and you can't buy back a dead child because you left them in the hands of someone that's not trustworthy. I hope mom is not working so the family can enjoy the finer things in life, like choosing the school they go to, or vacationing in Hawaii. Protecting children should be every parents number one priority, and I ask this of all of you-Have any of you ever seen a luggage rack on the back of a hearse? Bet you haven't.

Dear Keene lady, why must you so harshly judge? It would be much nicer to blame it on music, video games and television. At least that's what the other parents do. Since they are not there it couldn't possibly be their fault. While we are at it let's just remove all free will for the lord-of-the-flies day care casualties. Who would we blame then? Signs point to those who use run on sentences and misspell.

To the mother in Keene,
I understand your point but frankly I think you are wrong. I have two kids and my wife works from home. We both love our children but if my wife was a stay at home mom we would have six figures immediately taken out of our income and would have to make changes to our lifestyle that would negatively affect our children. As it stands now we have a nanny and a housekeeper who tend to the chores that neither of us have time for. My wife is still home (working) so if the kids need her she is there. The nanny keeps them busy, safe, engaged in activities other than television and out of my wife's way when she is on conference calls.
With my wife's extra income my children can have most of the things they need and a lot of things they want. Not only that but we can actually afford to put money away for their future schooling.
Not all parents who are at home all day are just hanging out and pawning their responsibilities on the nanny. We have worked VERY hard to find a balance more so than either one of us had with two parents working outside the home growing up.
In a perfect world I would love to have her stay home and just do things with the kids. But the reality is her difference in income means the difference between two very different lifestyles. I respect your views but please do not assume that we are bad parents because we have a nanny at home with my wife. We are in fact doing this so that our kids can actually grow up with nice things and be able to pick the school they want to go to in the future, and not just the one we can afford.
On a side note, we would never allow a complete stranger to stay with our children without exhaustive background research and a series of interviews. Someone this crazy would have been weeded out almost immediately.

Hey Harry and "mother from Keene", really.. do you think your comments are at all appropriate? Let's focus on the real issue, this woman was hired to do a job, she left her post, got drunk and could have killed a few people.

Are some people really so snippy that they feel the need to nitpick grammar errors? Is there anything pettier?
- Danielle, Bennington
Thumbs-down to the UL copy desk.
Thanks for the benchmark, Susanne.
- Nemi, Keene
I would like to know if this nanny was from a professional organization and what sort of background check, is any, was completed? Thank goodness the children are safe!
- Deb, Pelham
I have only one question.
If a Portsmouth Officer issued a summons for negligent driving at the first accident. How did he not notice she was DWI?. She then drives away and gets in a second accident on the same road and then is arrested for DWI.
Either this story is being reported wrong, or there is a portsmouth Officer that needs to do some explaining why he allowed her to drive away.

This is what happens when you leave the children with someone else. The parents live in Rye and have enough money to pay to live there AND have a nanny??? Then ONE of the parents can quit work and stay home w/the children,.... even if they need to downsize to do it. We often wonder why children of affluent parents end up in trouble. It is because the kids come last in the parent's priorities. DON'T HAVE CHILDREN IF YOU AREN'T PREPARED TO TAKE CARE OF THEM YOURSELF!

Does anyone edit these columns before going online? There are numerous misspellings, and multiple run on sentences. I understand that getting the news to the public as fast as possible is the objective but c'mon a little effort wouldnt hurt.

I never once considered having any stranger care for our children, regardless of what background documents they provided
Furthermore, I can clean my own house too, don't need or want anybody in our home.
- Harry, Atkinson
The real story here is those "kids". They drove her out of the house, into a life of booze, crime, and havoc; and it only took them an hour or two. They must be monsters!

I need someone to watch my dog next weekend. Do you think see will be available?
- Leon, Manchester
"was involved two car accidents"
"control and soon the left the house after"
Does anyone proofread these articles?
