The heinous crime that was committed against Stacey is unthinkable. My heart goes out to her, her five beautiful children, family and friends. Her death has been an unbelievable shock. It is understandable why everyone is trying to solve the crime before the investigators release their findings and have made an arrest. Everyone has their opinion. My opinion is that this murder was committed by a women. She was stabbed multiple times and rumor is, her face was unrecognizable. Typical of a women murder who is jealous and sick. So, don't be surprised if you find that Stacey was murdered by a woman.
- Heather, Wolfeboro, NH
Your kind spirit and smile will be missed. I pray for your children and family through this difficult time.

When I learned of Stacey's death I was overcome with grief. I remember Stacey to be such a gregarious and loving person! I don't understand how someone could act out in such a violent way. The person responsible for such a horrific act should be sentenced to death. I pray for Stacey, her family, and friends. May justice be served! My heart truely goes out to all of you!

I live in Wolfeboro and this was my 9 yo son's school nurse who he knew personally. He cried during a grief counseling session. His mother and I are divorced and for the children's sake I pray that it isn't the father, however it's hard to ignore the timing (mother's day). His mother and I now have a good relationship, however during the divorce process I despised her. Later I would learn that it wasn't her causing the problems but the lawyers involved that were "pitting" us against each other. It would not have been hard to imagine someone reacting violently under those circumstances. Until you've been through the process the way I have, don't assume the thought would never occur to you. I fired two lawyers during the process and learned first hand about the "incompetent men's attorney" role the lawyers play to ramp up the animosity between the parents. I wonder who her lawyer was and if it wasn't the same lawyer that my wife had?
- Howard, Wolfeboro
Mike, you obviously don't know the situation, the people involved or Stacey. Too bad you never knew Stacey. I only was an acquaintence of hers, but I felt like a long time friend around her. God Bless her family. And God forgive you, Mike.
- Stephanie, Wolfeboro
Boy what is going on up there? Drug bust, murders....
- Marcia, Penacook
Wow, LA - totally irrelevant.
I really hope they find out who did this to this poor mother and bring them to justice. Those poor kids are going to need a lot of support from their family and friends to get through this.

As far as Mike is concerned, I hope he never has to lose a loved one in such a violent way. I pray for Stacey's family and friends that they can get through this. It is heartbreaking that her 5 children will never celebrate Mother's Day in the same way as they did before this tragedy. God bless you all.

Mike in Hampton, Do you have issues or what? Good grief, go take your political views elsewhere and not in this story. I guess you got what you wanted thought, people making comments on your "statistics". Go get a life elsewhere.
My sympathies to the family of this young woman.
- Carole, Epping
RE: Mike's comment "with "mother acting alone" making up the largest number of child maltreatment death perpetrators based on a 10-year US study (US DHHS),..."
Gee, Mike, do you think maybe that's because the overwhelming majority of households with children in them are headed/co-headed by the mother, especially single-parent housholds? You need to look behind the statistic, not just AT the statistic.
- Wendy, Manchester
As a member of Stacey's family, I am appalled at Mike's comment. While so many of us are having to deal with the loss of a loved one, you think it is more important to quote statistics. At the end of the day Mike, it was Stacey - loving mother of 5 - who was murdered...not the one who did the killing. Please have some respect and keep your comments to yourself.
For those of you who have reached out to us, we appreciate all of the compassion we have been shown these past few trying days. Those of you that knew Stacey knew she was an amazing, loving mother, and kind compassionate person. Always full of life and smiles. It is a true tragedy to have lost such a close loved one. Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and prayers.

Huh? So after dredging through your muddy as the Mississippi comment, Mike....the other 61% of responsibility for domestic violence deaths should be heralded in small type? And what does your comment have to do with the story?
This "lady" was stabbed to death in her own home on Mother's Day.
Let the investigators do their job and please find a new outlet for your views on what is sexist....
Where is your sympathy for her children?
- Liz, Milan
Mike Smith, Hampton, NH Exaggerated claims about men abusing women? Come on... either you have serious female issues or you're just trolling, because I can't imagine anyone making such a foolish comment. You don't even have to try hard to find statistics of who the perpetrators and victims of domestic abuse are. Do some research man.
- Bill, Andover
I was pleased to see that the Union Leader didn't used the sexist "Woman Murdered" headline used by at least one competitor on this story. We all too often hear the highly exaggerated claims about men abusing and killing women in 'domestic situations' in particular, as if those worthy of 'equality' and tend to be all to able to kill in 39% of US cases domestic violence cases are 'helpless'. Furthermore, with "mother acting alone" making up the largest number of child maltreatment death perpetrators based on a 10-year US study (US DHHS), to portray women in much larger type as murder victims misleads readers as to the what are probably the most violent and deadly persons in 'domestic/family settings'.
