If you've ever wondered just how out of touch university faculty can get, look no further than the behavior of the University of New Hampshire's faculty union during its recent contract talks.
After shunning the Dalai Lama in September, President Obama must have shocked the Red Chinese when he spoke firmly for human rights.

Pelosi vs. NH: Wrecking the state budget
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unveiled a health care reform bill that allegedly would cost the federal government less than previous House Democratic plans. But it would cost states more.
The previous House bill would have made families earning up to 133 percent of the federal poverty level eligible for Medicaid, which states partially fund. New Hampshire pays 50 percent of its Medicaid costs. That would have cost states an additional $33 billion.
Under Pelosi's bill, families earning up to 150 percent of the poverty level are to be covered by Medicaid! That huge increase would have a disastrous effect on New Hampshire's budget.
This bill ought to draw an automatic "no" vote from Reps. Carol Shea-Porter and Paul Hodes. It would explode the already out-of-balance New Hampshire state budget and almost certainly result in a state income or sales tax. But Shea-Porter was on the stage with Nancy Pelosi, beaming with delight, when the speaker unveiled the plan. Maybe Hodes and Sen. Jeanne Shaheen will have more sense than to support this budget buster.

Blue Dogs around the Republic I have a suggestion for you, watch what happens tomorrow in Virginia! If you dont want the same to happen to you in your next election run from ObamaCare, because we will not forgive you if you vote for it. You will go the way of Deeds.

Bill in New Castle,
Where was this supposed 3% growth? Where are all the newly created jobs?
Cash for Clunkers and the homeowners tax break accounted for the 3% 'growth'. In other words, gov't spending. No new jobs. And now because of Cash for Clunkers, the auto industries are suffering once again, with sales down 25% the month after CfC ended.
I don't know where you get your facts, but if you want a real look at the health system in the UK, listen to Daniel Bannon sometime.
Shea-Porter and Hodes are nothing but shills for Pelosi. That's what you get for electing those tax and spend Dems, Bill. They will destroy what is left of NH.

The "public option" will do one thing very well, and only one thing: it will drive the horrible, evil, greedy, selfish and uncaring (insert your own sarcastic adjective here) insurance companies out of business because they will not be able to compete with the rates set by Washington... and then we'll all see how "inexpensive" the healthcare reform will be in the long run.

I just want to say Thank You for most of the posts. I am relieved to see we have a strong opposition to this and as mundane as it may sound, please make your voice heard. I call each and every morning and email. I am also mailing letters. I am someone who has been ignorant for many years and I guess it horrifies me that I was so blind and uninterested in my government. We have the Greatest country because it's founders thought of everything. We need to enforce the Constitution and hold the ones trying to deceive us accountable. I am sorry if I seem to have lost it in my posts, I am really that frustrated and afraid for the future of this country. Can it be that they are really this stupid or is it intentional? I stand by my belief that government cannot run anything let alone 1/6th of the economy and not destroy it. I find this the most destructive administration we have ever had. People are going to have to stick together and keep calling, showing up, writing, and doing whatever they can do to stop this administration. If we can't stop them our children will be in for a very bleak future, I believe this with all my heart and I am influenced by nothing more than my own research. I nearly voted for Obama, and I fell for his "hope and change" line without really looking at what he stands for. I just believed what i read and heard. I believed the media and did not know how biased they can be. But I am awake and I thank you for speaking out. It does comfort me to know I am not alone.

So you think that there's something wrong with the water in Deerfield?
Welcome to the club.
Whenever I read a comment from there
I ask myself "Who's the author this time? Will it be Will or William or Bill, Robert or Rob or Bob?"
There are enough similarities (sentence structure, vocabulary, among other things) in the posts of those writers that one might surmise that they're all one and the same individual, copying and pasting from the same DNC playbook, and drinking from the same well water, don't you agree?
- Guy Plante, Manchesdter
This is just going to be another additional entitlement to people that don't qualify for it, but soon enough they will figure the loopholes, get fired, watch their income fall and then apply for whatever they can get. What can I say, the incentive to save, earn your worth is disappearing fast, son there will be no motiviation at all.
Obamalism at its best.
- Jack Alex, Manchester
Bill from Deerfield. While most of your post is gibberish, I do agree with this line; "Bad things happen to people through no fault of their own." It describes the people who didn't vote for this feckless administration.
I don't know what's in the water in Deerfield, but it seems that most of the posters from your town are socialists. Maybe you should grab a newspaper and read up on how many European countries are finally seeing that socialism doesn't work and are trending towards more conservative (fiscally) forms of government. Sadly, this happens as the indoctrination in our own public schools has turned the brains of 2 generations of children to mush.
- Ron, Manchester
I just hope everyone is having as good a laugh as I am as the selfish, me generation - the Baby Boomers put the final nails in the coffin of Free America.
Look at the joy some are having at a GDP that saw 'growth' due to spending (oops - borrowing) $24,000 per vehicle in the Cash for Clunkers and over $160,000 per 'stimulus' job created or saved.
The federal portion (govt spending)of the GDP increased 8%.
Any growth at all in teh GDP has been due to the Goveremnt spending money it doean't have. And you support this? You praise this? You say 'we've got to do something'.
Shame on you pal. I think we'll all take a deep breath and calm down when you stop supporting the bankruptcy of the country you leave behind for your grandchildren.
- John II, Manchester
Oh the horror, oh the disengenuous disdain, spread fear, worry, concern. Reality is tied to knowledge. Get some. It will make you feel better. The health care effort is just the same as it was last week. Democrats want to remove the chance that your medical predicament will enslave your family. Now I know that you think that disease, like poverty and being a minority are some sort of indication that God hates you but that is just more Republicanic fantasy. Bad things happen to people through no fault of their own. Democrats want to ameliorate that condition. It is bad enough living in New Hampshire which is filled with just under 50% ingrates.
- Bill, Deerfield
Bill, I voted as an independent most of my life. Mostly because I never know what to believe. I could care less about the parties, honest to goodness. I am in fear for my children, the future they face, and the deeds being done in Washington. I work in the Manufacturing Industry and have many companies who are leaving for other countries. I am watching jobs being lost by the thousands around me. I do think you might want to speak with some of these people who are so happy with health care in other countries. My sister in law is Canadian and she tells me it is a nightmare, she of course moved to the US.
But I have even asked these questions from people in other countries in forums and I am told the health care is horrendous. Oh and up until last year I voted mostly Democratic because I was ignorant enough to believe the lies and the good intentions. Only someone who does not feel they need to work for this would want it. I would prefer to have no health care. Too bad for any representative of mine who supports this because I am ignorant no longer and will vote accordingly as I hope others join me in doing. I can pay my bills and put a little away, I pay for health care and I am happy with it. Either they need to let companies compete or just leave it alone. And lets not forget the possible job losses if the public option becomes law. I think Washington is in for a big surprise when elections come around. I have never paid any attention to politics, shame on me for this, but now I will do all I can to help stop this. I will not stand by and watch my kids future be destroyed and if you like this health care so much move to Canada or any of the great places you say people are so happy with. You pay the costs and leave the rest of us alone. This is supposed to be a free country. It is illegal for them to tell me what I can and cannot do. It is corruption and lies. I'll tell you what I'll agree to it when the House and Congress agrees to jail time if anything they have said turns out to be false. If they will put their freedoms on the line, then I might go along just to rid of of the coruption. All I can say is actions speak louder than words, and most times we have found we are duped. When is enough, enough? It all seems corrupt to me, and truly, truly scares me. I have never felt the anxiety I feel today and I am scared. I just want to work hard and give my children the life they deserve. I have gone most of my life without coverage and managed to pay my way, why can't others? I worked hard to get to where I am, and I am proud I did. Handing things to others does not give any incentive to work. Melvin is correct, start kicking people off Welfare and leave it for the families who worked hard and now have no job. I am sure I will not be far behind them at the current rate Washington going. And the growth is all in government, you know they are printing more and more. there is no gorwth whatsoever in the private sector. I am willing to bet it is another lie to placate us and make us think all the wasted spending did some good. So all the tax dollars spent are where the supposed growth is from. It is a joke and when the dust settles I am almost certain it will be some deceptive spin to try and gain favor. Well I am beyond that. I have seen no growth, just the opposite as a matter of fact. Tell me where there is growth and people are not losing their jobs. Example: Caterpillar just let 2500 people go, when 2 years ago they had record earnings. Others are moving overseas not waiting to see how things play out. Give me some facts to back things up, otherwise it seems you have your own agenda. Well I won't pay for you or others, I pay my own way and don't expect anything. All I want is my rights to the freedoms I am due!! Move to Cuba if you want socialized medicine and when you are sick tell me how wonderful it all is!!

The public option is a different issue.
The federal government should NOT be causing state governments to significantly increase their taxes.
The main issue is the federal government telling state governments how to spend state government money.
Amendment 10 of the United States Constitution
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
State governments have the power to decide how state government money is spent and NOT the federal government because of Amendment 10. State governments should be able to decide their priorities for spending state government money. If state governments want to spend more money on education than on Medicaid, they should be able to. The more money that state governments have to spend on Medicaid the less money they are going to be able to spend on education, police, infrastructure, and other essential services.
People should be allowed to buy into Medicare or a health insurance plan similar to what members of Congress have. Monthly premiums could be based on monthly incomes and coverage options.
Many millions of people would be better able to afford health insurance plans if they are able to buy health insurance plans sold in other states. The more people participating in a plan the lower the premiums the plan may have. Each state government would still regulate health insurance companies to make sure fraud is not taking place and that the companies meet the financial standards the state government sets. Customer service may improve if there is a lot more competition in health insurance. The more things that Congress and state governments say health insurance companies have to cover the higher the cost of health insurance and the fewer companies likely to provide health insurance. Too many regulations by Congress and state governments dealing with health insurance companies is the main reason why so many millions of people do not have health insurance.
People should NOT be required to have health insurance or pay a tax if they do not have health insurance.
Businesses should NOT be required to provide health insurance to their employees or pay a tax if they do not provide health insurance to their employees. Requiring businesses to provide health insurance to their employees or pay a tax if they do not provide health insurance to their employees is likely to increase unemployment and inflation.
If the highest federal income tax on people and businesses is NOT greater than 15 percent, people will be better able to afford health care and health insurance. Businesses will be less likely to fire workers in our country and then make products in foreign countries that they then import to our country. State governments will be better able to increase their taxes on people and businesses helping them to fund education, health care, and other things. I think 50 state governments spend money better than the federal government spends money.
If the federal government and state governments stop taxing interest from savings accounts, dividends, capital gains, and estates, people will be better able to afford health care and health insurance. Businesses especially small businesses need capital to stay in business and pay their employees.
People should be allowed to deduct the full cost of their health care and health insurance from their federal income taxes.
People and businesses should be allowed to deduct the full cost of their donations to non profits that provide health care from their federal income taxes. The non profits could be health clinics. The non profits could be hospitals. The non profits could provide free prescription drugs. The non profits could be involved in health care in other ways. The non profits may provide many millions of people quality health care.

If the plan is so good, why is it mandatory for all Americans with the exception of members in congress? The people we elect should all be held accoutable under the very laws they write.

Bill in New Castle
You should check your math on that 3% reference.
Currently GDP is ~14.3 Trillion
Democrats spent 700 B-Billion on TARP, 800 B-Billion on the "Stimulus" and another 10 B-Billion on Cash for Clunkers and the 1st time home buyers subsidy........
Lets (falsely) assume that all this spending actually had a positive effect on GDP.
Liberals spent more than 12% of GDP and got a 3% increase in GDP.....anyone that thinks that is a good return on the investment spent needs to have their heads examined.......and how and when do you think that money will be repaid?
Have you considered the cost in interest to service that debt?
Liberal Spending on Health Care and entitlements and the entitlement of the week needs to end immediately or this country will be totally crippled by debt.
- JP, Warner
There are few issues where we can honestly say that every single person in the country is affected by it, but health care is one of those issues. Even if you have health insurance, you can be dropped at any moment because you are under the care of insurance companies more interested in making profits than providing quality health care to New Hampshire families. Some people, like Senator Judd Gregg will want to stand with the insurance companies that have funded his political campaigns. Others, like Senator Jeanne Shaheen, will stand for you.
We must have a public option. Without competition, insurance companies are free to provide us poor care while jacking up costs. Enough is enough; it is time that we had a public insurance option that gave the insurance companies incentives to give us affordable care we deserve.
The Senate Finance Committee bill, which was recently passed through the Senate, does not meet all of these expectations. Although the bill addresses the issue of high health care costs, it does not address the crucial issue of providing a public option that would give insurance companies incentives to put care before cash. I hope that we will extend upon this bill so that it includes a public option to keep insurance companies honest. I also hope that Senator Gregg, Senator Snowe, and Senator Baucus will not stand in the doorway between 47 million American citizens and health care coverage.
- Douglas Marino, Newfields, NH
Each state should be able to have different eligibility standards for Medicaid.
Each state government should decide the eligibility standards for Medicaid.
Each state government should be able to decide the MAXIMUM amount of money it is going to spend on Medicaid.
Each state government should be able to decide how it is going to spend money on Medicaid.
- Ken Stremsky, Manchester, NH
When a bill is submitted to the NH Legislature that nullifies any mandate from DC on HealthCare each and every Citizen better call their reps each and every day and FORCE them to pass it into law to protect NH from Congress overstepping its bounds.
If only Congress would get back to the job we originally created it to perform and stop dithering with all of this nonsense we would be a lot better off.
- JP, Warner
I realize that anything you disagree with is a "talking point," but you don't need me to tell you: just look around. Do you think it's some invisible magic that brought us 3% growth last quarter instead of depression?
If you want to get really scared, just think where we'd be if John McCain had been elected to let the market do its thing.
- Bill, New Castle
The reason Obama and his thugs in Congress are trying to force this bill down our throats under the pretense of a health care "emergency" is quite simple and political. His plan is scheduled quite well, but Americans are not quite as stupid and gullible as Obama planned on.
Most of the revenue for this emergency health care plan will be collected up front and will sit in the US Treasury long before health care reform takes place. So what, you ask?
With all that money coming into the treasury and nothing being spent yet, it will "reduce" the deficit and make it look revenue neutral. Voila! Obama did not really lie, the economy looks good and the people are once again duped again into voting for Democrats. My guess is that this will take place just about 2010 to 2011 and as the bulk of the TARP monies are bing spent also.
They are good in DC, but not good enough to fool most of with their crooked shell game.
Wake up folks. It's your money!
- Melvin, Keene
Those people who think this plan is responsible and will reduce the deficit need to stop smoking whatever and sober up. Then you need to step back and take a real look at this legislation and what is really going on around us.
This legislation is the biggest grab yet to control every American from cradle to grave. And if you don't want to partake of this legislation you will be fined because participation is not optional. There are going to be taxes upon taxes to be paid and these taxes are going to affect everyone, not just the rich, as the democrats would have you believe.
For instance: The Finance Committee's proposal would assess $322 billion in taxes and fees on insurance premiums, prescription drugs, and medical devices, according to the Senate's Joint Committee on Taxation. The Senate bill proposes $2.3 billion in fees on brand-name drugs, $4 billion on medical devices, and $6.7 billion levied on insurance companies, plus more than $100 billion in Medicare reimbursements to medical providers — all costs that would be shifted back onto consumers.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi's House bill appears even more expensive. It would impose $150 billion in Medicare cuts on the pharmaceutical industry, and a 2.5 percent tax on companies that manufacture medical devices. The bill would impose nearly $400 billion in new taxes and fees. Nearly 90 percent of that burden will be shouldered by those making $200,000 or less.
Wellpoint (the parent firm of Blue Cross/Blue Shield) projects that healthy people in their mid-20s could see their annual premiums increase by more than 150 percent in at least seven states: Indiana (199 percent); Kentucky (199 percent); Maine (172 percent); Missouri (199 percent); Ohio (199 percent); Virginia (175 percent); and Wisconsin (199 percent). For New Hampshire the projections are: Individual – 19 percent, Small Employer – 15 percent.
And this is just for starters; we haven’t even considered that all these taxes will start being levied next year, yet so-called benefits don’t kick in until 2014.
And then we have the wonderful ploy to insure the poorest among us by increasing the Medicaid qualification threshold. The states pay the lion’s share of Medicaid costs. So when you get through being taxed by the Federal Government for the benefits you will not receive until 2014 at the earliest, you will then receive a bill from the state to pay for yet more benefits you will NEVER receive to pay for the folks qualifying for Medicaid. Aren’t we just the luckiest people in the world?
Couple this with some facts brought out by other commenter’s. Look at the USPS, Social Security, Medicare, all well on their way to going broke. All examples of government run programs. Can you imagine what our government will do when they get their hands on all this money?
I don’t trust them, I don’t like them and I intend to help vote every last one of them out starting in 2010. They have no right to take away my freedom of choice much less legislate what medical procedures and pharmaceuticals I may or may not have.
- Sandy, Thornton
Stacey,
The public option is only for individuals that purchase insurance, not for employers to provide their employees with.
- Brian, Manchester
And what do we get for this added expense? Nothing! Oh wait, we get health care.... But what's health care worth? Nothing! Oh wait, my father told me as a boy nothing is more important than your health.
Never mind.

Come on Bill, I am a Demcrat and believe this party is out of touch. They are not looking out for us, they are bolstering their ego. Bill, I have freiends in Canada and England and here is what I have learned. Just look at the nothren US border states and the influx of Canadians who want basic surgery who have been denied [peole are England are told right out they can't have the surgery or medication thoerdoctor recommneds. Billperhaps you can answer the question why should Americans pay over 100M a year for illegal aliens medical treatment?
Finally Bill you are just plain wrong and people like you always play the race, prejudice or political party card when you can't address pure facts.

Yes folks ,"take a deep breath" as (Bill ,New castle, says )as we prepare to wait for extended periods of time to see specialist that may or may not decide that procedure could risk his chance of being penalized by the Gov't run health care plan for approving it .
And if it does get approved prepare to then wait for extended periods to actually have the procedure done in which hopefully you survived long enough to make it to that date .
This is how it works in the countries that now regret living under Gov't run healthcare .
You will need another deep breath as you are also going to be taxed into the stone age.
If you like the way the Gov't runs the DMV, Post office (now going bankrupt),
Social security (Now going bankrupt) just wait till they get their hands on Health care.

Right - let's keep those without insurance begging for health care assistance and we'll pick up the tab when they're at death's door. Perfect. It's the right wing agenda.

Bill's arrogant diatribe and regurgitating of administration talking points on the deficit financed growth in GDP is so typical of the Shea Porter loyalist. Bill says the"Heath bill reduces the deficit", too bad international currency traders don't see it that way. That is why crude oil is pushing $80.00 per barrel in a down economy and gold is $1044.00 per ounce and rising.
November 2010 can't come soon enough.
- Chris, Merrimack
Let's hope the citizens take a few moments to get past their emotions and think about what this plan is all about, and start by taking a serious look at the programs government already runs and what a disaster they are. Not to mention the fact it will be handing over our freedom to the government. Or can anyone explain how being fined by our government for not buying insurance resembles any kind of freedom?
Also about the comment the economy is better we're not seeing it at our house or those of our friends and neighbors yet. But my spouse is being kept off unemployment with red tape while in between temp jobs. He took a temp job to get off of unemployment for three months, the contract ended and he filed for benefits until his new job starts in November and we are now on four weeks of run around. But at least it’s helping to make unemployment numbers look lower than they are. I told him this would happen if he took the temp job. This is the same kind of management we will get in health care when it is finally taken over by government.

To Bill, New Castle: What dream world are you living in? Funny how the news I read doesn't agree with anything you wrote. Please take off your rose colored glasses and see the real world.

Hey Bill, I'll tell my great grandchildren to send their portion of the bill to your great-grandchildren to pay for it. If their Chinese masters let them.
If you think this bill will reduce the deficit, I have a bridge for sale with your name on it.
When has this government EVER been correct on their estimates of costs???
Medicare is 9X what they said it would cost.
Bush left a 700 billion deficit, Obama has made it 1.4 TRILLION and growing.
Learn how to say "Yes Master" in Chinese soon, when they call in their loans to pay for all this, we will be bankrupt and they will be our rulers.
- Mickey, Nottingham
First of all without any doubt I am for Health care reform. The Republicans had their chance to do something and they sat on there ars. I also agree that Bush created the worst defecit then any president but most of our debt isn't from him but from the stimulus package. But I want to comment on Health care. I have dual citizenship USA/UK and go to the UK 3 times a year to help my 98 year old grandma. The provided care, what they give you, isn't all that bad.The 2 outlandish things without mentioning some of the others is 1. The waiting dates for operations etc is loooong. Scotty a friend of mine had to wait 6 months for knee surgery and the quality is horrendous. after aall it's free in their eyes. 2. The cost is unbelievable. Here are just some examples. Gas $7.50 a gallon, $200 TV tax etc.. after all some one has to pay for the inefficiency of the government. The Idea of health care is great but the idea of government running it is insane. Name 1 successful agency or business government run that doesn't lose money. You can't. S/S is broke, medicare is broke, the post office loses 5 billion a year. So my absurd question is why the hell do you want the government to run a program. If they were a business they would have been bankrupt and charged with fraud like Enron, remember then. DON'T DO IT.
- David Cull, Hudson NH
2009 is the best chance in decades to get on the road to healthcare reform, and one that might not come again for a long time. The democrats won’t get it right the first time, but it has to start somewhere. Conservatives are fighting this at all costs, but without engaging in honest discussion. This must not be about actively making Obama fail. It must be about fixing healthcare costs. If you are unemployed, where are you going to get $12,000 a year for coverage? Addressing the waste in healthcare will save billions, but innovation, cooperation and progressive thinking is required. I believe the conservative approach will cost us much more than if we achieve reform.
- Bill, Moultonbough, NH
The tendency of a higher level of government to solve its budget problem by shifting costs to a lower one, should give pause to everyone who thinks that a new state tax will permanently lower their local property tax.
Stacey's concerns are valid. We have had six bills, and the partisan desire to pass a law, where the only concern for the CONTENTS is that they be something that can be sold to the people, means this isn't about solving the real problems. Yes, foreigners love what their National Health Service says about their compassion--but they keep coming here when COVERAGE won't work and they need quick, sure TREATMENT.
Bill of New Castle, and Obama, are plying a con job. We will not know the effects on the deficit for years. However, as every time the government rolls out a free service, we can expect demand to be several times what the planners expected.
- Spike, Brentwood NH
The whole heath care bill is unconstitutional - just like when the Democrats try to pass it under Bill Clinton.
In 1994, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office noted that a "mandate requiring all individuals to purchase health insurance would be an unprecedented form of federal action."
"The government has never required people to buy any good or service as a condition of lawful residence in the United States," the CBO said. The statement was part of an analysis of then-President Clinton's ill-fated health care reform plan, which also required that all Americans purchase health insurance plans.
- Mac Wade, Newmarket
Loved those "facts" Bill in New Castle. Too bad they are just something from the DNC. I'm not going to waste my time answering them.
I'm not sure how you think employment will come up when everything the federal and state government is doing is stifling jobs. Higher taxes and fees stifle jobs. We continue to increase taxes and costs on business on a federal level and pass laws that encourage companies to take their operations overseas. And our corrupt leaders in Washington are the ones responsible for this legislation and they look right at us and tell us they are trying to save jobs! The only way "employment" will come up is because the unemployed drop off the rolls thereby lowering the numbers. Or maybe the government will hire them all? Get real and look around you.
As for health care we tend to enable perfectly healthy people who are lazy by offering such great benefits and pay to not work that it will be difficult to get them off the dole. The public welfare roles should be for those that are truly needy and have no ability to work.
And then there is the problem of how do we pay for this health care? WE can't afford it. And to intimate that all those elite European countries are so well developed as if we are not...I think they have somewhere around 10% unemployment and 50 % income taxes. That'll sure help the employment situation.
If you Libs want socialized health care, move to a country that has it. 85% of Americans (this does not include illegals) are happy with what they have. Fix the problem with health insurance by getting the government OUT of it not taking it over!
- Melvin, Keene
Stand back and take a deep breath folks. I know you're the opposition to whatever Democrats do. But think about it: Last January we thought we were going over an economic cliff and now the economy is grown at over 3%. It took that spending to do it and you and I are better off for it. (Most of the deficit is what Bush left us anyway. You were pretty quiet back then.)
Unemployment is always slower to come down and it will be this time, but it will come down.
And on health care: do talk with Canadians and Brits, and the Swiss and Germans and French and every other developed country in the world. They are all very satisfied with their health plans and wonder why we can't figure it out.
We're all just a step away from needing that new Medicaid health care coverage if we lost our job or got real sick and the insurance company decided they'd had enough of us. So the expanded coverage of low income people is a great thing.
AND the heath bill reduces the deficit. Yes, I know: YOU don't believe it. But that's what Democrats have done for you, even as sour as you are about it.
So take a deep breath and calm down. You'll like it.
- Bill, New Castle
The last thing we want is people who are making barely enough money to live on, getting healthcare. Better we pay anyway for their ER and catastrophic care through cost-shifting. Right?

Each time I read more about this bill something or other has changed. I guess I should not call it a bill since nothing I have read states these things. I am afraid of this "bill" and what it will do to our state and our country. They outright lie and people are overlooking it as if it is some error they do not know they are making. How can this be? As a single parent I did not have health care for many years and I was able to get good health care through Community Health centers and programs like this. Please, please, anyone who thinks this is a good idea talk to people in the UK, Canada and the many other places that have failed to make this work. My employer has already told me if this goes through they may have no choice but to use the public option. If our competitors opt for the public option we will have to do the same in order to stay in business. All they have to do is lift the state regulations and let these companies compete and sell the plans we want. It is not the insurance companies that cause our problems it is our own regulations. There are some things insurance should not be mandated to cover, but our government had passed so many bills regulating them in things like this, it forces us all to pay the price. This administration scares me and I have never been much interested in politics. God help us all if they succeed. They have the auto and the banking, and now they are trying to take over health. It will crush the economy in ways I can't even begin to imagine. If all these companies go under we will lose more jobs, and then all the companies relying on the insurance industry will likely follow. Please tell me I am not the only one looking past what they are trying to sell. Please look deeper than what these people are telling you and use plain old common sense. There is no possible way this can work the way they have claimed it will!! Shame on you Shae-Porter too much Washington water yet again!! My vote will reflect the way i feel about your defection to Washington after all your speeches about how you would not do this. I am sick of lying politicians!!
