Airport de-icer cleanup: About $1m

Manchester-Boston Regional Airport is spending nearly $1 million (with most of the money through FAA grants) to reroute storm water tainted with de-icer away from the Little Cohas Brook and into the larger Merrimack River, officials said.

UPS captures and recycles their de-icing fluid with a special underground capture system, rather then letting it drain off to the local water supply. I beleive they are the only airline at MHT that does this.

Sounds more like the airport struggled to find taxpayer dollars to pay for the work. Now they have a grant from FAA and they can figure out how to solve the problem.
