Republican businessman Bill Binnie of Rye will officially become a candidate for the U.S. Senate tomorrow, according to a spokesman.

Binnie will file the necessary paperwork with the Federal Election Commission and the New Hampshire Secretary of State's Office, said spokesman Matt Mayberry.

Prior to the filings, he will answer questions from the media at a news conference at the Legislative Office Building, Mayberry said.

Binnie heads Carlisle Capital Corp., based in Portsmouth and owns the Wentworth-by-the-Sea Country Club.

Profiled in the New Hampshire Sunday News last weekend, Binnie said, "Someone with my background of building companies and creating jobs, I believe, has the skill set to address the economic challenges we face."
