FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Far more goes into the Jets' blitzes -- and into defending against them -- than meets the eye.

After going with alternate captains only this season, the Monarchs finally sewed a "C" onto a jersey on Saturday night when defenseman Drew Bagnall was awarded the honor of team captain.

Brian MacPherson's Patriots Notebook: Big decisions await
Bill Belichick and his New England Patriots staff suddenly have an extra month with which to work, a month in which their team normally is still playing, as they start to plan for next season. Good thing. They're going to need it.

Pete, Manchester, NH. Gee Pete, last Super Bowl, the team that was five TD underdogs won. Oh and you might be surprised to learn that NH natives were New York Giant fans long before the Foxborough Patriots came along. You Taxsachusetts expatriates think you can tell we natives who our teams are. Man go back and take your taxes with you.

Pauls comments were funny. Loosen up people besides the Giants are not only NHs team they're New Englands team. You all know you have giant jerseys in the attic. Go get em.
- john II, Manchester
Paulie, you....ah...know that none of us are actually ON the team, right? lol 4 posts today bud?? You pay a lot of attention to a team you 'hate' lol Thats my favorite thing about you - the self loathing! ha! You can't buy this kind of entertainment.
- Mike, Concord
I just suggest that Paul from Milford suit up...I'm sure a few tackles from those "old timers" wouldn't bother him at all...well assuming he even got up after the first tackle...LOL!
- Mike, Epping
Paul. I knew you missed me! I was on Maternity Leave. Sorry for you, but there is one more Sox/ Pats fan in the world. We are raising this kid right!
- Beth, Raymond
Bethy Babe, you are back. The Ultimate fair weather fan has made her return.
you can always tell which way the wind is blowing by where Bethy stands on the Issue.
You might want to jump on that Yankee Band wagon this year my dear.
- Paul, Milford
Right on Tim!
Tedy has been an asset to the team and given his heart and soul. He and Vrabel have been consistent over the years and are always there making plays. When Brady went down, I was predicting an 8-8 season as I had seen Cassel play in the preseason. Little did I know that I would be so happy to be proven wrong. What feet on that guy! I also hope I am wrong when I say I see a bunch of these old timers that I have known for years will be replaced next year, leaving on their own will. Fortunately, our talent goes quite deep in the depth chart!
Hey Paul. Maybe you can explain to us how to deal with our team missing the playoffs (like your dear Yankees), except ours didn't come with such a huge price tag..
And the Giants will never be my team! With the exception of Western CT, most New Englanders are true to their home team even if they are critical of some of their choices.
- Beth, Raymond
Paul and Leno, you guys can go soak your heads down in Jersey where knuckleheads like you belong. The stroke joke is so far from funny I don't even know where to begin, and suggesting that the Giants are somehow NH's team is the most ludicrous thing ever written on one of the most ludicrous message boards in the world.
The people worth knowing up here will continue to root for the hard-working, smart, and successful team that (obviously) makes so many of you so very jealous.
- Pete, Manchester, NH
Tim, Mike, Relax, the dude was just busting them on you. I got to admit, connecting the dots with the stroke and Tedy football got by me at first. Pretty clever, but You two are on the ball.
- Glen, Loudon
Tim Merrimack, Geez, calm down. Don't go kicking something and injuring your knee or something.
Most all NFL teams suffered key injuries this year. DEAL WITH IT.
As far as character and Intellegents. You're the season ticket holder since '92. Doesn't speak much for your character or intelligence now does it.
- Paul, Milford
Maybe time to look for another football league. Check out the web site for an upstart league.

Paul from Milford. I have been reading your comments about the Patriots the past few days and I have been silent because most of your post are immature, ignorant, and not worthy of a response. You clearly do not like the Patriots and are only commenting because you have something against the best team in football over the past decade.
I am a Patriots season ticket holder and have been since 1992. I am disappointed that they did not make the playoffs this year, but I know that in football you control you own destiny. The Patriots lost a couple of close games (Indy, Jets) and by doing so they lost the opportunity to play in the post season. I am satisfied to see that they were able to work through key injuries that most likely would have crippled most NFL teams. Imagine Indy loosing Manning, Addai, Bob Sanders, and Dwight Freeney. Do you think they would have ended up with an 11-5 record and barely missing the playoffs? Probably not. Most experts (NFL pre and post game shows/ESPN etc.) agree that there isn’t a team out there that could have accomplished what the Patriots did this season with the amount of talent they had on IR.
I am disgusted at your comment about a Patriots player having a stroke. I am sure that you know that Tedy Bruschi had a stroke in Feb 2005 and was lucky that he did not die. You are talking about a man who is a leader on and off the field. He has done more charity work in one month then you will do you your whole life. You are not talking about some moron who got caught doing drugs or shot himself in the leg late night at a club. His only trait that exceeds his ability to play football is his character, which you are clearly lacking. Next time you post why don’t you think before you type. Of course that would require you to have some sort of intelligence, but I am guessing you are also lacking in that category too.
- Tim, Merrimack
Right on Leno!
- Paul, Milford
New Hampshire's team is still in the playoffs. The New York Giants!
Leno, Raymond

Yeah Paul from Milford, that's real freakin' funny. Making references to the old timers having a stroke. WHAT the HECK are you thinking??? We almost lost Tedy Football because of a stroke. But you knew that didn't you?
- Mike Roch, Manchester
Tell me a team in the NFL that isn't effected by Injuries. As for age, the Pat's have a big problem. I thought a couple of those old timers were going to have a stroke or something those last couple games
- Paul, Milford
