Uh Wayne, show me proof that McGwire #1 used steroids, and #2 used steroids the season he broke the homerun record. You are completely contradicting yourself, and if you truly think the Sox didn't have steroid users in both 2004 and 2007 then I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I can sell you.
- Steve, Boston, MA

Oh and Cabot, Have you ever heard of a guy named Mark McGuire?? He played for the cardinals and "stole" the home run title and did while he had roids coming out of his ears. I don't think St. Louis can say anything on the matter. Don't forget Freddy...still waiting to see 2004 and 2007.
- Wayne, Pelham

Way to dodge there Freddy. Again let me see something that says anyone tested positive in 2004 not the year that they got bounced out of the playoffs.
- Wayne, Pelham

Mikey Concord you are such a Pooh, Winning is everything to you. No matter if it takes cheating to achive that. Why don't you take a little pride in yourself and the teams you route for. Admit mistakes were made. and go on from there
- Beth, Raymond

Everyone hates a winner! lol I got a good chuckle from the fool still stuck on Cameragate. Move on, man. Move on. Stop with all your self loathing.
- Mike, Concord

Hey people, lets just all be thankful Paulie Milford is no longer with us to witness this. Boy wouldn't he have a field day with this today. He would have us all running for cover
- Francis, Francistown

If your from St Louis, you cannot be happy with Boston, first we cheat winning the Super Bowl in 01, now the 04 Red Sox were all juiced up to steal the World Series. Either way it's all tainted.
- Cabot, Londonderry

Wayne Pelham, Try to keep up here, it doesn't take a wizard here to connect the dots.
Show me something that says Roger Clemens ever used PED's. but i think we can all agree.
A sad day in Roid Sox nation indeed
- Freddy, Atkinson

So they had to cheat to win the World Series. It goes right along with cheating to win the Super Bowls. (cameras anyone?) What a shame.
- Joe Bunda, Bedford

Freddy,

The Red Sox didn't win anything in 2003. They won in 2004 and 2007. You should check your history. Show me something that says they "cheated" in 2004 and 2007 and then we'll talk.
- Wayne, Pelham

If you are interested you can see an "rumored" list here http://www.rotoinfo.com/read_article.php?articleId=380. The lawyers should have a field day with that. It's a sad day in "The Nation." The citizens now have to deal with the fact that The Curse was broken with illegal substances.
- Steve Colardeau, Andover

This test was labeled anonymous and should be kept as such.
MLB is to blame here.

I’m not sure even the beat writers could state exactly what MLB’s drug policy is in regards to steroids. MLB needs and needed to assume complete control over this with a clear and comprehensive system. Until then it is MLB’s responsibility to ensure the test results are kept confidential until they can come to an agreement with the Players Union on a new drug policy and effective date with provisions for legacy offenders. Any “leaks” should be officially disputed by both MLB and the Players Union until then.

MLB will have to make a drug policy decision someday but it seems they are weighing the forecasted revenue stream impact against the actual fans and corporate business response to these partial list “leaks”. This is a basic market strategy.

My opinion for what it’s worth:
Incorporate a version of the NFL’s policy, a known working model, with special attention given to legacy offenders, which I believe is what is causing them to delay since they have created a HUGE mess by their indecisiveness.

My fantasy for what it’s worth:
I hope some innocent player sues the pants off MLB.

Brian, I love your columns, your writing is gifted, but your position on putting this in the clean players court I believe is out of scope here.

Great story though...
- Dave, Bedford

Freddy from Atkinson,
How about Roid Sox Nation. Yeah that's the ticket. Live in infammy. I hang my head in shame today. You know what they say, "Every village has an idiot."
- Stan, Stoddard

Leo, Canterbury, Cheating is not fine, no matter what the purpose may be. These fools have tainted the honor of the Red sox forever. The World Series victories are meaningless. I've said for a long time. Give back the Trophies, give back the rings. Start fresh and clean. Win one the right way. That one would have the true meaning of being a champ.

I'm afraid the name Roid Sox is here to stay. And it does ring true
- Freddy, Atkinson

No surprise. Anyone who cared could see, from reviewing Ortiz's record, that something was funny. That's life in Red Sox Nation, where cheating is fine as long as you beat the Yankees.
- Leo, Canterbury

Why not leak the names of all the players who allegedly failed the 2003 drug test?
- Guy Plante, Manchester
