CRUSHED is how Shannon Sullivan described it, that poisoned butterflies in the stomach feeling of witnessing Bill Belichick's fourth-quarter gamble backfire Sunday around midnight.
If Tom Brady had time to survey the field, no one would be proposing that Bill Belichick check himself into a nearby asylum.

Brian MacPherson's Sox Beat: Slumping Ellsbury sits
By BRIAN MACPHERSON
Special to the Union Leader
Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008
A leftover newspaper straddled the border between the green carpet and the white tile of the lavatory in the manager's office at Fenway Park on Tuesday, and it was open to the headline, "More woes for Jacoby."

"Terry Francona has always insisted he doesn't listen too much to public clamoring, that it doesn't help him to his job any better. But he couldn't ignore what had become painfully obvious through three games in the American League Championship Series: Jacoby Ellsbury was having a miserable time trying to get on base." I think this is a little rude, you can't play well every game and Jacoby isn't known for his hitting. They shouldn't have benched him last night if they just gave him a chance he could have played well. Ellsbury has more stolen bases and more homeruns that Coco. Coco's average isn't that much better than Jacoby's.. I just don't think it's fair to bench him just because he's in a slump. How's he supposed to get out?
