blah blah blah...what a egomaniacal jerk...let him rot in plainfield
- chet johnson, warren nh

Claiming you don't have to pay taxes is one thing, but blaming Freemasons, Zionist Jews and the Illuminati (!?!) is the quickest way to get yourself branded a whackjob. Sorry, when you say things like that, you lose whatever credibility you might have had.
- Tim, Raymond NH

"Taxable Income". "Gross Income". Ok, now what is the definition of "Income"? It is no where to be found in the code.

The Supreme Court says "income" is a "gain". That is, an increase over and above an amount invested in an effort which produces something of value.
The "source" does not matter. That is, whether the gain was the result of the application of a machine or the labor of a man, it does not matter. What matters is that there was a increase.

A "gain", or profit if you prefer, does not result from an equal exchange of one's labor for something in return. There is no "gain" for the laboror.

The Supreme Court has also ruled, more than once, that our common labor is a right. Rights cannot be encumbered in any manner. Only the labor of a slave can, and are, taken by the slave master. And, if he can take 1% he can take 100%.
- Carl McCoy, Nashua

Enough is enough! Not paying taxes is one thing, but threatening to kill local public safety officials is where we need to drawn the line. It is time for the US Marshals to do something. It is pathetic that we, the USA, are sending a message that you do wrong and we punish you, but threaten us and we'll leave you alone. The last thing needed is giving these crazy people more time to come up with threats and the means to carry them out.
- EP, Concord

I respect that the United States of America are the champions of free speech, but this gentlemen seems to be suffering from serious delusions of grandeur. He appears to be attempting to hiding his criminality behind a subterfuge of false accusations of conspiracy. I'm surprised that the authorities have been so patient.
- Graham Breed, London England

There is so much to be said about this situation that I am baffled at where to begin.
Why are we still letting people in there in the first place? Does the goverment not own Mr. Brown's property with the court verdict? So isn't everyone who goes there to support them technically trespassing? That alone would be enough to lock up their supporters so they are unable to create an army.
I am amazed at the restraint shown by local/federal authorities in this matter. I agree with several other people that enough is enough. Mr. Brown maybe correct about the use of lethal tactics coming soon. But he himself will be the lone cause of that.
To say Mr. Brown's comments are a 1st amendment issue is ludacris. They are comments which are aimed at inciting riot.
Though you may disagree with the judges ruling or the IRS's laws, we all must remember that the officer's out there ready to take him in to custody are simpling doing their jobs. Do you believe Mr. Brown has the freedom to call on supporters from across the country, with the intent on harming or killing those officers?
The Union Leader should also stop allowng this man to use their media in order to call in "back up". Media source or not, is that not helping him as much as the people who bring him supplies? I agree this does deserve news coverage, however I think the coverage should stick to the FACTS, not aiding Mr. Brown in building his army.
- Robert Skinner, Anderson SC

Wow...The Illuminati?? I think maybe Mr. Brown has been reading too many Dan Brown books. I find it funny how just a few weeks ago Mr. Brown had stated that it was the Freemasons idea and led him to not pay his taxes....and now it is their fault?? Hahaaa!! This guy keeps me in stitches.
With every word he speaks his hole keeps getting deeper and deeper.
- Jennifer, Woodsville

ummmmm..... can you say waco? ruby ridge? the government is going to kill poor ol ed brown, over what it costs to buy one humvee,,, how many dollars have been wasted on agents threatening him and his wife,,, alot more than the taxes the gov says he owes, think about it, its about being submissive, we cant let the rest of america think he can get away with it so lets raid his home. making sense ? the irs official didnt know the law, why should the browns pay? the government missapropriates more money in one second than ed brown and the rest of us will ever " owe" ed dont threaten people ,but stand your ground, good luck
- Timmy Lafauci, milford

alright where to begin, the government has been bullying people forever and when someone pushes back they are crazy. i do not agree with his views on religion and conspiracies however the government did just release documents stating that mobsters were hired to kill castro, they admitted to watergate, so is it really crazy to be paranoid. good for you ed brown, thanks for standing up for the rest of us that are slaves to our government. god bless and keep your cool, the world is watching
- James Scott, nashua

The Union leader has Newspapers to sell and sensationalizm sell. Shame on you!!

"If federal agents storm Brown's property, he and his supporters will come out shooting. "

That Sounds to me like a defensive Statement. I sat on that porch too that night and I am here unarmed and will not come out shooting but I will die if the feds come in shooting.
What is this man to do .A five year prison sentance at his age is a Death Sentance. He has nothing to lose at this point.
"The ball's in their court now," he said. the Unionl eader need to print the law he violated on the front page. problem is even you can't find the law.
- Jim, Plainfield NH

The only reason the federal government has anything is because the states have capitulated their rights to them. As states, we have morphed into the frog in the frying pan. Imagine all fifty states negotiating their own soverign treaties and trade; more competition and less regulation. The states governors need to band togethor and start taking the 10th amendment seriously. The Browns would have a chance at defending themselves if Lynch wasn't so side tracked by Buckley's social agenda and the unions political agenda. An entire NH community is under seige and where is our governors leadership? BTW, Is Ed Brown going to read Dan Brown's next book, purportedly about the Masons?
- Salts, manchester

If the Union Leader had the sense to please keep Brown's terrorist call to arms out of print and off the net then his words would mean much less. But because this embarrassing (to NH) ranting of a screwball sells ads every nutcase in the country is now able to read Brown's blathering and be prompted to come here and do something violent. Thanks UL, nice work.
- Bales Keefe, Manchester

Well Ed you did it this time.

I still agree with your show me the law stance and I am still waiting for some one to show me the law as well.

But Ed

Some of the people that were supporting you were good decent Hebrew's and Masons that were willing and able to support your cause.

You just lost that support when you lobbed the Freemasonry and Judaism conspiracy bomb into the debate.

Good luck with the tax issue but this former supporter has to step back and wonder where your head is really at.

Peace
- Billy C., Concord

The Brown's do have a point about Federal Taxes being illegal. A US district court in Louisiana voted (12-0) that Tom Cryer of Shreveport does not have to pay the IRS $76k in Federal Income Tax. The constitution does not provide for the governement to tax us in many ways but it does so through the courts. If the Brown's didn't seem so crazy and maybe approached the matter like this guy in Louisiana, maybe they would get more support. We cannot deny there are enemies in this country who have been shredding the constitution bit by bit. Every day more power is taken from the people and given to the government. The communist manifesto's goal is to make sure both parents work to be productive citizens of the state while the state raises our children. They do this through taxation. Most families need two incomes but there was a time when this wasn't the norm. On principles, the Brown's are right but there conspiracies marginalize their legitimate arguement.
- Sean, Goffstown

Why on earth does the Union Leader keep giving these people a forum for their crazy views?
- Kim, Newton

I think the Goverment officials should not let the Browns or anyone off the property or any one else on , their defeating their purpose, shutting off Electricity Ect. Why are they letting people in so more can get hurt .
cut off their way of food , and anything else they may wish to want aAnd if someone wants to go in ....Nab them , for obeting with futitives
after awhile when they start getting hungry , they'll come out .also mean less chance on other people geting hurt .
Someone will get hurt if they keep letting people go in .sure hope this all ends soon , we're all tired of this .
- Betty, No. Haverhill, NH

I am sure Jesus as a Jew would disagree that Jews are the cause of the worlds problems. I once thought you might have a point in asking to be shown the law, now that you show yourself as a bigot and call for murder you have lost all credibility with me. I am sure the average hardworking Dad who is a freemason would also disagree with you.
- Jenn, Concord

Brown likes to view himself as a victim of the government and yet states he will kill anyone who attempts to enforce the law. Time to end this joke. It looks like the public has no interest in his cause so he must think of a way to get back into the news.

9You can count his supporters on one hand.
- richard scalzo, epping, nh

Sounds like things are getting desperate in Plainfield. Brown needs to realize anti-semitic remarks won't help bolster support for his cause, at least not from the right people. The only things Masons are guilty of are setting up blood drives and fundraisers. Look up CHIPS if you want to know about FreeMasonry today, they fingerprint small children in the event of a kidnapping. Or how about those free hospitals set up through the Shriners? The Illuminati?? This guy watches too much TV.
- Erick, Manchester

Sheila, To militate is "to have force as evidence". Ed tried to get the certificate of proof of non-filing by the Feds to NH RSA Ch. 123:1 (from 1-8-17 U.S.Const.) into an Exhibit #__ to the jury, but was dis-honored by the judge who ought to be impeached! if he does not declare a mis-trial. Ed is not a reactionary or "An opponent of progress" but a Revolutionary as allowed and even encouraged in N.H. by Article 10.
- Joseph S. Haas, Concord, New Hampshire 03302-3842

Didn't Mr Brown recently announce he wasn't going to pay his local taxes either, because he wasn't using local services? Yet he expects local officials to protect him from the Federal Government? Never mind that he has called an ambulance for his guests who have become ill. I hope no one gets hurt for tis but I do believe the police should stop allowing people in, and arrest those who have visitted since the warrants were issued.
- Ken Snetsinger, Merrimack NH

"Yes, Ed Brown is a conspiracy theorist and that makes him really weird in my book, but I still think it is terrible that he and his wife (who doesn't seem as weird) may be killed because of money. No one should die just because the government wants their tax money." I hate to break it to you, but if the Browns die it won't be over tax money, Kate, it'll be because the Browns committed a crime and rather than do the time they intend to kill people. If somebody is pulled over for speeding and is killed triying to shoot the police officer, they weren't killed because the were speeding, they were killed because they tried to kill a police officer.
- Adam Wells, Manchester

I really hope those named in these threats press charges.

This is no longer about tax evasion...it's come to criminal threatening, unlawful assembly, and inciting violence.
- Jen, Cornish, NH

Looks like the Browns are feeling a little lonely since they're not in the press every day. First it was the concert, then the hulabaloo about 'multiple gunshots' that were supposedly fired around their fortress. Now Mr. Brown is on his soap box talking about conspiracies. He simply sounds like a school yard bully, trying to provoke a fight and hoping the Feds will give it to him just so he can be right. It's too bad that he now has to throw in threats to make sure he's being heard.
- Sheila, Manchester

Yes, Ed Brown is a conspiracy theorist and that makes him really weird in my book, but I still think it is terrible that he and his wife (who doesn't seem as weird) may be killed because of money.

No one should die just because the government wants their tax money.
- Kate, Manchester

Our wonderful constitution allows everyone including the Browns to speak freely and to voice their disagreement with our government. What is very sad when others cannot separate truth from the rantings of a very confused individual.
- B M Merlin, Claremont

Showing Ed Brown and his cult followers the law is simple and the tax laws that established liability aren't unclear at all. Section 1 of the Internal Revenue Code says "There is hereby imposed on the taxable income of every individual ... a tax determined in accordance with the following table ..." Section 63 of the same Code says "the term 'taxable income' means gross income minus the deductions allowed by this chapter". Section 61 says "gross income means all income from whatever source derived, including (but not limited to) the following items: (1) Compensation for services, including fees, commissions, fringe benefits, and similar items; (2) Gross income derived from business". The list of examples of gross income is long. If what the IRS spokesman showed the Union Leader was unclear in establishing liability, then the IRS showed the UL the wrong Code sections. The three sections I've just listed show that you take what you've earned for the year, subtract out applicable deductions, and pay a tax on the rest, based on the percentages outlined in the tax tables. Anyone who thinks that isn't clear has had their vision dimmed by Koolaid.
- JJ MacNab, Bethesda, MD

The truth is that the Goverment is eroding everybody's rights, NH parents have no rights just ask Sen. Gatas, the Washington Dems claim the civil rights are eroding in Washington, the NH Judicial Family Law System is corrupt and EVERYBODY know that , just ask NH Non Custodial Parents, and these Brown folk's are just some little people standing up against the MACHINE!

Just wait till it happens to YOU!

[Art.] 10. [Right of Revolution.] Government being instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security, of the whole community, and not for the private interest or emolument of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, whenever the ends of government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government. The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.

Brown has really crossed the line now. I hope all those who support him on the income tax issue will read these anti-Semitic conspiracy rantings and see him for what he truly is: a nutcase! God bless the law enforcement officials who have exercised restraint and kept this situation peaceful. I truly hope it stays that way.
- Haley January, Manchester, NH

it's interesting that whem asked for evidence of the freemason conspiricy brown says to look it up. i'd like him to show it to me, just as he says the gov't should show him the law about income taxes

don sampson
- don sampson, hillsboro

This guy has some serious issues. How can he keep getting away with all of this? I hope this ends soon, because now he is making threats towards public offcials. What a loser and the people that follow him are losers.
