C.J. McCarthy's Heisman Watch: McCoy makes the jump
By C.J. MCCARTHY
Friday, Oct. 30, 2009
1. (4) Colt McCoy, senior, QB, Texas (26-of-31, 261 yards, 3 TDs): Looks like he’s back on track after a couple of shaky performances.
2. (1) Tim Tebow, senior, QB, Florida (12-of-22, 127 yards, 88 yards rushing, 1 TD): Throws two picks that Mississippi St. takes to the house. Very un-Heismanlike. However, in this muddled Heisman season, he’s still in the race.
3. (2) Mark Ingram, junior, RB, Alabama (18 carries for 99 yards): Held to under 100 yards and had a key fumble that almost cost the Crimson Tide its undefeated season. Still, he’s very much in the race.
4. (3) Jimmy Clausen, junior, QB, Notre Dame (26-of-39 for 246 yards, 2 TDs): Was very unspectacular against a vanilla Boston College defense that gave him 10 yard pass completions all day long. Five BC turnovers led to the Irish win, not Clausen’s performance.
5. (4) Case Keenum, junior, QB, Houston (25-of-36 for 233 yards, 1 TD): Just barely hanging on.
