Sometimes the journey is the destination, at least that's what Ginny Soucy has discovered.

It's been seven years since the single mother of two grown sons sold her Somersworth home with no particular plan.

"Pretty much I just follow the sun," says Soucy, 62, who spent four years on her own, just her and her RV.

"The sense of freedom is hard to explain to someone who's never done it," says Soucy.

After her sons left her with an empty nest, Soucy struggled with what to do next. "I felt like it was time for me to run away from home and do something I'd always wanted to do."

Soucy's thoughts returned to her happiest times, summers spent as a kid on Milton Creek Pond in Milton, and camping in the White Mountains.

"Also, I couldn't tolerate the cold here anymore," Soucy said. "One year my car went off the road and I couldn't get home. That was about it. I put my place for sale and got a motorhome."

Soucy spent the next several years working in various campsites in mostly southern climes when, in 2003, her solitary life got pleasantly crowded.

"I was working at a camp in Colorado when I met my husband," says Soucy.

Wayne Beck was a widower who had just taken his RV out of storage. He and his first wife had spent plenty of good times on the road.

Recently retired, Wayne decided it was time to get back to traveling.

Within a year of meeting, Ginny and Wayne consolidated what little stuff they had. She sold her RV, and they have been following the sun together ever since.

"I still consider New Hampshire my home, and I plan to visit again. Probably not for a few years, though," said Soucy. "I truly enjoy the lifestyle. If you don't like the weather, you can move. If you don't like the neighbors, you can move. And if the neighbors don't like you, they can move."
