Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd is slated to begin airing a new television ad today that says some of his fellow Democratic presidential candidates are following him on the Iraq war issue.

The 30-second spot is slated to go up on national cable television and WMUR in Manchester.

Dodd's first ad, which began last Wednesday, urged his fellow Democratic candidates who serve in the Senate to vote with him on binding legislation to begin troop redeployment in three months and complete it by next March 31.

Although the Feingold-Reid-Dodd bill received only 29 votes, Sens. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden were among the supporters.

The Nation magazine, a liberal publication, credited Dodd with prompting the Obama and Clinton votes. It said they voted as they did "grudgingly."

Dodd's new ad says, "Now, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have changed their position to follow Chris Dodd."

The ad then says that Dodd's plan to stop global warming, in part through a "corporate carbon tax," has been lauded by former Vice President Al Gore and former New Jersey Sen. Bill Bradley. "Maybe the other candidates will follow Chris Dodd on global warming, too," the ad says.

Sheryl Cohen, Dodd's campaign manager, said Dodd "is moving the debate from half-measures to bold solutions on our most pressing challenges" and "demonstrating he is ready to lead with boldness, clarity and conviction."
