Jon Brooks was my teacher at the Haystack Mtn School of Crafts in Deer Isle Maine in 1983. Jon was an informative, patient and inspiring instructor in the ways of creating wood art. Best Wishes, JON, for your full recovery. Jerry a Burt

As an artist, my heart aches for you... each piece you create has a little bit of your heart and soul in it, and from what I can see from your work, you are truly a beautiful soul! I am so happy to hear that the community is behind you, you will rebuild, and from it will come more wonderful work. Best wishes…

How devastating. Jon is well-known and admired in the New Boston community and beyond, and he has given much of his time and talent to New Boston's children through the artist-in-residence program. Historically, this is a town that rallies behind its own...let's help Jon and Jami!
- Kathleen, New Boston

Jon's work is unique and wonderful as is he and his lovely wife. He is a NH treasure and the loss of his workshop is a far more than some tools and wood, it is a loss of a lifetime of hard work and memories

Thank you, Tim - a neighbor I've never met; but should have.

May a Phoenix rise.

He does amazing work ! If that's the shop that was detailed on his website there more than a few memories lost with this fire. Hopefully they can re-build it again.. Very interesting person there.
- Tim, Derry

Brooks is a talented artist whose pieces are shown in the UL every now and then. Our names are spelled exactly the same which always causes a chuckle at work. My condolences for the loss of your studio and the pieces there. Thank goodness there are lots of pieces in the museums. Google his name to see his website.

is there a Mount Vernon as well as Mont Vernon?

Updated, 2:52 p.m. Residents of a three-story building at 346 S. Main St. lost everything in their apartments in a Thursday night fire that left the building so structurally damaged it is too dangerous for them to enter the building again. Manchester Fire Chief Jamie Burkush said the cause appears to be electrical in origin and is "absolutely not arson."

Updated, 10:48 p.m. A local man was taken to the hospital Thursday night after his family's recently adopted pit bull clamped on his arm as he was trying to keep the family cat away from the dog, his wife said. She said the dog was adopted three weeks ago and replaced a docile female pit bull the family owned for years which had recently died.
