I listened to the whole phone call on you tube. I don't understand how they could fall for this. The prank calls were made on skype you can tell its skype because of the sound it makes when they end calls. These punks that made this call could of been from any state, all they need to do is look up the number on the yellow pages.
- JW, Manchester
WHO ??? In their right mind would listen to someone on the phone, telling them to do stupid stunts, no wonder the country is in the sad shape we are in.

- Tom Clarke, Concord
Remember when you'd get in trouble with your friends and your Mom would say " If your friends told you to jump off a bridge, would you do it?". Same scenario ..... common sense prevails. While I don't think the prank is funny, I do question the judgement of the manager. Doesn't KFC train these people? Who would set off a fire extinguisher in a food area? People are so easily lead .
- Kim, Melbourne
Wow, total lack of common sense on the part of these women. And we wonder why the country is going to crap. These types are who run our government now.
- Kevin, Dover, NH
The entire phone call is on Youtube. Search for KFC prank.
If this isn't funny why was I rolling on the floor listening to the call?

Bill from Rye
If the people commenting on the photos do not have access to play a video, they should look at the big picture and make sure they have all the information before ignorantly commenting. How does any one know if she did not have any one holding her or not?? You can not stop a person from walking around if they choose so, really you do not have a clue. People making the blind statements need to lighten up. MFD does a fabulous job, just because your FD where you worked had a walking policy does not mean its standard every where...That policy doesn't even make sense! People can walk..theres no law saying they can't. Really people if this is all you have to complain about, an able women walking then your life is pretty sad..
- RW, Manchester
Hey, Kristine in New Castle, and Donna from Rye..this applies to you too!!
You were not there, how can you really comment on a photo? If you really have any idea about EMT training and the quality of work done by EMS in Mancheser then you will realize that she was taken care of, have you ever heard of cropping a piture..how do you know that some one is not standing right next to her.. Oh and don't forget about the fact the patients need to be decontaminated before contaminating every thing..then you have a bigger case at hand, obviously you have NO idea about EMT training, seriously you need to get a clue and look at the big picture before commenting on it. If you look at any of the video clips you will see that same women in a fire truck just prior to that pictre being taken, staying warm!! Maybe you and Donna from Rye should get together and complain all day..misery loves company and the two of you would be perfect together..:)
Shame on the two of you for such ridiculous comments...
- RW, Manchester NH
Most likely, the caller was someplace close with a video camera taping the entire thing, and it is a matter of time before it is posted on the net, if it hasn't been already. LOL
- Eric, Salem NH
What is really alarming is the fact that fire and safety codes require proper instruction of employees in the use of fire suppression equipment when working in a restuarant. If they were properly trained they would have known what would result in the pulling of the switch as instructed by the caller. What is scary is that they may not have known what to do in a real fire situation.
- J, Salem
I guess that working there must be so mind numbing that the two employees just lost their common sense.
- Joe R., Littleton, NH
Regarding this statement: I find NOTHING funny about any of this and I find all of you who do find it funny to be just as bad as the people who pulled this prank.
This is a fine example of hyperbole. Laughing at the crimes that have been committed in this incident is NOT as bad as committing them.
- Russell C., Birmingham, AL
Kristine in New Castle-
How can you say that people are not in their right minds after an incident like this? Were you there? Have you ever been in an incident like this? Did you lose your capacity for judgement?
I hate when people talk about stuff they have no idea about. An yes, if there are multiple patients, somtimes they have to be left alone while others who are worse off are treated.
- Josh, Raymond, NH
I can not believe how awful some of you are to others on this site.
You people think this is funny? I wonder how hard you would be laughing if your house was on fire while this was going on and you had to wait a long time before fire trucks showed up.
Some of you REALLY need to lighten up on bashing the people questioning why this woman was let to walk around.
Did it occur to any of you that some people's computers can not play the video?
I would question the F. D. policies too, since the department I used to volunteer for in another state mandated that a patient can not walk to an ambulance without an EMS personnel holding onto them regardless if the felt or looked fine. Many times this proved to be a good policy.
- Bill, Newport
good thing no one called to tell them their refrigerator was running, thay might have chased after it
- jason L, nashua nh
Ruth, You admire these people? Wouldn't these type of tests be planned? I can't help but to wonder if you are related to one of them or something. I agree a waste of resources but people need to use their brains. Did the "drill" make sense. To set off the system?!
I don't know, I am laughing still.
- Cathy, Manchester
I find NOTHING funny about any of this and I find all of you who do find it funny to be just as bad as the people who pulled this prank. If it were your daughter or YOU standing out in the public view naked covered in a chemical, I can guarantee you it would not be funny. Not only that, these ignorant animals who did this to them stopped the MPD and FD from doing what they do and that is wroking to stop crime and keeping YOU safe. I find this act the lowest of low in people. It's always funny until something like this happens to you. Absolutely disgusting.
- Carole, Epping
There is stuff a lot worse than this going on. There is a scam used by some computer hackers called “SWATTING”, where the hackers use caller ID spoofing technology call a Emergency 911 center and pretend to be in a hostage situation and are crying for help. The 911 operators would dispatch the police and the local SWAT team to the location that shows up on E911 operators screen. When the cops show up they kick the door in guns blazing only to find out it is some innocent family usually sleeping. The family is traumatized, the house is ransacked, the door destroyed leaving an unsecured home.
What happened isn’t funny. I hope the Restaurant upgrades its training program for emergencies. Now these poor people are going to be the laughing stock of the city and beyond.
The Story was not on the Foxnews Web site, but it is all over WMUR.
- Chris, Merrimack
APPARENT Hoax?!? Noooooo. Say it ain't so. LOL. I think you can safely remove that "obvious" adjective from the headline now. Otherwise, good job to the UL reporter.
- Roger, Manchester
Hey Donna from Rye, if you actually look at the VIDEO next to the article you will realize she was in the fire truck (with a blanket given to her from emergency personnel )prior to being transported... And if you can actually wrap your mind around the fact she has to walk from the fire truck to the ambulance, and perhaps this is when that picture you are ignorantly complaining about was taken. So before accusing some one of not doing their job ,take a look at the big picture.
- Jenn, Manchester NH
This is yet another example of social networking pranks that can cause a great deal of hardship and pain to those involved. I'm sure the prankster's CYA's but they can't do that all the time. Call tracing is not what it used to be with spoofing numbers and VOIP connected in the hands of some pretty crafty people. I'd suggest the MPD engage KFC's telco provider and IT personel to start an investigation. My bet is the caller has done this before and probably not has comical as this event.. google "swatting" and I'm sure you'll see this perp is not alone.
- Tim, Derry
i used to work here and i feel it was a prank, sania and fay are cool people and dont deserve this
- miles, manchester nh
Ironically, while driving into work this morning, around 8:20am to 8:30am, I was listening to Rock 101. They had a caller who was irritated at Kentucky Fried Chicken because he went there for food and they claimed to be out of chicken. He went on complaining about the incident, and stating some explitaves about KFC. I am wondering if the two are related and if he had something to do with it. Perhaps Manchester Police should get a call log from Rock 101 to find out who the caller was and their involvement if any.
- Johnboy, Merrimack,NH
This is not the slightest bit funny.Any person that feels that this is humorous is sick and should seek help. If the person is caught they should be jailed.
I was at that location when it happened and it tied up a lot of Cops, firetrucks, and rescue workers.
What if an actual emergency had happened when all these people were busy with this prank? Your wife or kids or loved one in an accident ??
No this is not funny at all.
- Tom W, Candia
Their have been stories of similar things happening at fast food establishments all over the country. Dateline or one of the other news magazines had a story about it some time ago.
- JR, manchester
Way too funny! I wonder if this was the first fast-food joint they called or if there were others in town who knew better than to go through with it! obviously there were costs associated with this, and the party who initiated the prank should have to pay up. KFC should also foot some of the bill for improperly training their staff! I still can't believe this actually happened here!
- george, Manchester
This is hilarious. Further proof that we live in an unintelligent Country. LOL.
- mike, manchester
I hope they catch the punks who pulled this prank and make them pay for what KFC lost in revenue. It could be a few thousand dollars. They won't be laughing then.
- Beth, Concord
A patient should NEVER be left to walk around and "wait" for an ambulance. That is one of the first things they teach in EMT training.
What if that patient suddenly collapsed? It would be the fire departments fault at that point. She has clearly just be left to walk around. After an incident like this, patients do not have the ability to make good judgements and that's why EMS personnel should have been looking after her.
This patient should have been sat in one of the cruisers to be kept warm and have someone keep on eye on her.
so yes- SHAME ON THEM!
There is NO excuse for this!
- Kristine, New Castle
What is wrong with the society we are
in?? We have soldiers fighting on foreign
soil to protect who?? ..the scum who pull
this kind of prank??..and the people who
laugh at others who are taken advantage
of are the lowest of the low.
If our laws and courts do not work, the
vigilantes will start to appear....
and I am not so sure I wouldn't join them.
- frank j., nashua
All you finger wagging scolds better prepare yourselves for the nation-wide laugh riot that is sure to come when the professional comics get wind of this story.
Not funny? Please.
Monumental gullibility, accompanied by nudity, absent personal injury, is often very comical. This case is definately no exception.
Hopefully, Ms. Gilbert will find another job soon. For the safety of her future coworkers, I hope her next job involves alot less responsibility.
- Mike P., Manchester
When are we going to wake up and start practicing some common sense. The short of this story, like so many others, is if we had common sense, pranks and scams like this wouldn't be possible to pull off.
- Amanda in NH, Laconia, NH
Please note: the was in NH not Mass.
- Deb S, Mass.
All I have to say is why would someone want a random manager to test the fire system? and why didn't the manager call for help? A passerby had to call the police to report a naked woman in the door...
I thought the story was a joke.. yes the pranksers should be punished, but if it were my kid standing there naked I would knock him on the head and say what the heck were you thinking? People just do not ask you to do that sort of think on the phone.... It's that McDonalds thing all over again....and I would laugh at the stupidity of my own kid if they did this
- Jen g, Manchester
Too Funny!! Are these employees sheep? In getting a phone call like that, common sense would tell one that something doesn't sound logical. The prankster must have known their audience. Great prank!
- RJ, Concord
Hahaha thats awesome.... The are even talking about on the radio down here in Memphis. Thats great....who would actually beleive this hah.
- Stephen Lapage, Memphis/ Tennessee (formerly fro m Weare, NH)
New slogan
"KFC, now with 8! secret herbs and spices!" :)
- Kevin C, Nashua
You people laughing should be ashamed, if it were your daughter standing out there in the nude you can bet you woudn't think it was funny! When you laugh at this kind of behavior you're fueling more idiots to do the same or worse. Wake up!
- KD, Manchester
What law was broken, Jose? How about criminal mischief for starters. How about reckless endangerment? You've got to be kidding . . . how can anyone laugh at this situation and dismiss it as "a prank". This was much more than that, in my opinion and I hope they find the people responsible and prosecute for every possible violation!
- Molly W, Manchester
This is ridiculous. They are stupid for following the orders of someone on the phone and the people who pulled this hoax need a solid beating. Imagine if they pulled this on a female family member of yours - what would you do?
- Phil, Northfield, NH
I admire these employee's, specfic information was asked and answered correctly, leading these employee's to believe they were in fact speaking with the corporate office. Then in an instant they were being sprayed with god knows what and told that they were in danger and in a "deadly" situation, In this day and age I would rather be safe than sorry, had it been anthrax I don't think so many would be laughing . Who know's what sick minds are out there. Just by the simple act of this "prank" I guess we are already getting a preview.
- Ruth, North Andover Ma
Donna in Rye-
Keep in mind that there are only two people on an ambulance, and there were three patients.....how do you know that the crew on scene wasn't working on somone who couldn't breathe because of the chemical? Also, an ambulance is dispatched automatically with a fire truck for an incident like this. The city of Manchester only has four ambulances, and there are other people in the city who also need 911 services....perhaps they were also busy doing calls and she had to wait for one of them to clear up to come and get or...or even mutual aid was comming from Hooksett or Goffstown.......
Don't put the ambulance crews down based on a picture....I'm sure there's alot more going on than what's you can see through the camera lens!!
SHAME ON YOU!!
- Josh, Raymond, NH
"This will be easy enough to trace the call. Contrary to popular movie lore...you don't need to be on a call for 20 minutes to pull a number, all calling numbers are instantly recored at the phone company even if the hoaxer turned Caller ID turned off. "
What's the point? What law did the pranksters break?
"Book 'em Dan-O! Charge 'em with impersonating a poultry corporate executive."
- Jose H, Manchester, NH
What most of you are missing is the picture shown of the girl here.
WHY is there no medical personnel taking care of her? If she is "waiting for an ambulance", (which is bizarre because it should have already been there- the reporter got there!) why aren't the firefighter's there tending to her? Every fire truck has medical kits and they should be looking after her.
This girl should not be outside huddled in a blanket while the fire and police personnel are cozy warm.
I hope that someone from the f.d. is looking at this and will wonder the same thing when they critique the call.
They should be ashamed of themselves.
- Donna, Rye
Col. Sanders stick to chicken. Most of your commercial based fire suppression agents are a potassium based wet chemical. Dry chem systems are not effective in todays commercial kitchens. The wet agent forms a blanket on the grease, keeping o2 out and removing the heat from the fire. This is called saponification. You too should read fire safety 101, and maybe the UL300 Standard.
- BD, Amherst, NH
clearly the pranksters did the homework. I'm impressed that they knew to exploit the fire suppression system. It is entirely kfcs fault
- Brandon, New Boston
This might be the funniest thing I have ever read. I have been on the phone reading this article to everyone I know around the country; I have never heard people laugh so loud in my life.
- jay charley, manchester
My wife is pretty upset at me for thinking that this is absolutely hilarious!!!!!!!!
- Scott, Pembroke
Must be an ex employee getting back at them.
But what a story!
- B.King, Hooksett NH
Who's going to bet this will be the top news story on Fox News!
Someone could have been seriously hurt. I do hope they find the responsible person who did this.
- Austin Charles, Manchester
Are these the same people who fall for the Nigerian email scam? Common sense, people. Corporate wouldn't tell you to strip off your clothes. Sheesh.
- Len, Manchester
ya know the mannager should know better than to pull the pin on a sprinkler system for that matter she should also know that coprate would never tell you to get naked and pee on each other.
- brian, manchester
Since nobody got hurt... this has got to be the funniest prank I heard of in a long time. Classic- if I made the call I would have a hard time keeping quiet about this. If there is a HOF for prank calls this one is in.
- Tom, Nashua
Odd that the still have powder for a suppression chemical. This system should have been wet chemical a long time ago. Maybe it is just a misprint. I'm sure Manchester FD wouldn't miss something that obvious.
- BD, Amherst, NH
The employees should demand better training in the fire supression system and any other area they are not familiar with. Not to mention anyone else who works in a food enviroment. You can bet if they don't catch these mornons responsible for this stupid act of terrorism there will be another attempt. These poor employee's make nothing for money and shouldn't have to be exposed to such humiliation because they weren't trained properly.
- Karen, Manchester
This will be easy enough to trace the call. Contrary to popular movie lore...you don't need to be on a call for 20 minutes to pull a number, all calling numbers are instantly recored at the phone company even if the hoaxer turned Caller ID turned off.
That's why prank calls don't happen much anymore because they are so easy to trace.
- Mike, Epping
This is a joke right?
- Diana, Hooksett
Well, at least Ms. Gilbert had an interesting last day at work. I can't imagine this isn't going to cost KFC a pretty penny. I'm not sure what KFC could have done to prevent Ms. Gilbert's gullibility, but a court will no doubt find them responsible for the incident if it comes to that.
I sure hope the employees had the sense to not follow through with *all* of the fake orders they were given. Good grief.
- Jose H, Manchester, NH
Did the UL wrestle with the decision to run this story, since it probably gave the hoaxsters what they wanted? I can see the argument that it will help prevent the same thing happening somewhere else, but running the story could also motivate the same people or copycats to do this many more times, not to mention give them satisfaction from the publicity they crave.
- Brian, Manchester
I think that those responsible for the prank should be held responsible. What a waste of time and resources, as if the City of Manchester has enough problems. KFC should be training their personnel to know about the fire supression systems and protocols if one was activated. To think that someone could be fooled into stripping out in the cold and urinating on each other is completely unthinkable !
- Chris, Manchester
Shame that this happened to people earning an honest buck, but did they ever think to verify the name of the corporate rep before running the supposed test? Or when they were told to strip naked and urinate on each other, they didn't sense anything was phony?
Regardless, excellent to hear no one was seriously injured. I do hope whomever pulled the hoax is found and billed for everything from the medical, police, fire, ambulance, hospital bills, cleaning bills, etc.
- Bill, Manchester
