It was not just his party but his state that Marshall served so well. I was a 19 year old Democratic Legislator when I met him. He was out of office by then traveling the state with that pound of hamburg. After the 1980 campaign I got to know him and he taught me a lot about NH politics. it did not matter to him that I was a Democrat, it only mattered that I was willing to listen to his stories. I will never forget the many stories he loved to tell. He was a great guy.

I continue to appreciate use of Marshall's list of 30 interview questions, and his recall of the worst moments of sad politics in New Hampshire, many of which Marshall took with him in his passing.

Rest well, Citizen Cobleigh. Thank you for decades of service.
- Gary, Manchester

Marshall the ever present wingman with the Wiz. His humor and wit would always put things into perspective. Thank you for leaving us with your book. Marshall you will be missed, God Bless and RIP...
- Bob Letourneau, Derry

Marshall showed us what was best about politics. He knew that you could disagree but still have a beer together once the dust settled. He's going to be missed.

I have fond memories of Marshall. He came into our office one day and asked if we'd represent him in his quest for Congress. After much discussion, Marshall said he needed a "hook" for his campaign. I recommended that he make the campaign around basic NH values...."why the price of a pound of hamburger is $.79 cents...outrageous!" Marshall siezed on that, and walked around for six months with a package of ground chuck in his pocket! He was a true NH Yankee, a smart fellow, and an all-around good-guy. Best of all, he was a fair and honest man in everything he did. I saw him just a few weeks ago and asked him how he was doing. He responded immediately, "I'm ok, - hey how are you doing?" Even with his illness, he was more concerned about others than himself. Rest in peace Marshall...you were one good guy.
- Gary O'Neil, Manchester, NH

A great statesman and gritty politician, all rolled into one. He advanced politics into a new era by engaging talented people, taking on some tough issues and doing it with a bit of humor. RIP Marshall.

Marshall, we'll miss you and that encylopedia mind.
- Terry Shumaker, Concord

Marshall and I started together in the house in 1963 and we both served on the insurance committee. John King was governor, Stew Lamprey was speaker and Walter Peterson was majority leader. We passed the sweepstake that year, thanks to Larry Pickett. Marshall was a great guy even if he was a republican. God bless him, he was good to the people and had a great sense of humor.
- Paul J Dumont, Rochester
