if you noticed these notes you'll see that most of the negatives are from women who never go to the track anyway.they just weigh in with no knowledge of who likes the track or not.just keep voting to close these places and soon there will be nothing one can do for entertainment that doesn't cost a few hundred dollars.or maybe some of these women who are spouting off are mad because the track wouldn't let them run.
- jon, hinsdale

man it was horrible when the dog racing ban is mass was passed.. but nothing could compare t hinsdale greyhound park closing this was my favorite place and it was a day of fun instead of same old boring school or sitting at home.. i loved hgp and evne when didnt race year round id still simulcast tracks like wheeling island flagler etc... this is absolutely horrible
- joe lepianka, feeding hills ma

I currently have 5 greyhounds and have been involved with rescue since 1994 so there isn't a whole lot I don't know about the breed or the bloodsport of racing. These fabulous creatures live horrible lives of isolation and abuse. If Blake in OR considers living in a cage 22 hours a day taken care of and eating grade 4D meat being fed, he should try it. What a wonderful Christmas. I hope to see greyhound racing end in my lifetime.
- lisa holthaus, brick, nj

Greyhound racing had and has been an integral part of my life and whenver I hear or see a closure in the "Sport of Queens" i must utter my disappointment. For those of you who feel the racing animal, in this case the Greyhound,is summoned to a brutal life think again. These animals are taken care of, fed, and live a better life than most of your animals in the domestic sense. I have been involved both directly and indirectly with greyhounds. Do your homework on the subject as you have probably benefitted from the industry.

Here comes Rusty!

I used to live inN.H.,property taxes drove me away.I live less than a mile from two casinos. No problems,we go when we wish to have a little fun and have a good meal. They are clean, well run and employ hundreds of people.N.H.should come down and seethem

I'm not sure why we're pointing fingers and being sarcastic to one another. The economy has forced a business to close (like many others) and it is extremely unfortunate for those who were employed. It is also very fortunate, however, for the greyhounds as they deserve love and attention in good homes. People have a way of making things happen for themselves when times get tough; the greyhounds had no choice but to race and be treated badly.

This is just pure joy to be reading this on this fine snowy morning.
We are too civilized of a country in 2008 to be having any sort of entertainment at the cost of an animal.
Shame on you that disagree.....wake up.
- Brute, Plaistow,NH

According to Racing and Charitable Gaming Commission Chairman Timothy J. “Ted" Connors: “That’s why we need video slot machines to keep these tracks going.”

This is a strange quote for two reaons. First, I am surprised that a state official is weighing in on policy matters like this. I thought that was the responisibility of the legislature. Second, bringing in slot machines as a way to keep the tracks open seems like jumping from the fring pan into the fire.

I have adopted two Greyhounds and for anyone who has thought about adopting, please do. I have owned all types of dogs, but I tell you this, I will never own another breed after having a Greyhound. They are loyal, affectionate, and they don't need to run every day, just a 20 minute walk buys you all the affection and love you could get from any other dog.... actually a lot more than any other dog. They have wonderful personalities. They are like little human beings.
- Michael, Mass.

Ellen, I'm With You. Right I'm Glad They're Closed. We Love Dogs. It Times Up Freedom. I'm Glad It's Over. :)

Applause Greyhounds Happy
- Cameron, Western Massachusetts

Those dogs were exploited and it's about time that this and other tracks are closed. I never understood the appeal of watching horses and dogs run in a circle. Create your own amusement, don't submit animals to cruelty just because you can't think of anything else to do. Read a book!
- Enid, Manchester, CT

Mass. did the right thing in Nov. ending the abuse of greyhounds in crates for 20 hrs. per day!!!! Enough. And it will end in N.H. also!!!!! Not soon enough though!!!
- Jeanne Paynter, Cape Cod Ma

This is the best Christmas present ever! Dog racing is a dying industry, that's why there were no buyers. And, all the dogs are already in an adoption organization. Just thrilling news!
- Karen, Manchester

I am SO glad it closed! It is too bad for the people that have lost their jobs, but Hooray for the Greyhounds!
- Ellen Feliciano, Centerville

This is a great day for those dogs!
- jj, manch

Actually John, I was happy to read that they were given to several independent non-profits, including a local group, Fast Friends. Since you too were born to run, perhaps you should lace up your sneakers and run a marathon? But you'll probably write back saying you do that already. My day is happier knowing that oraganizations like Fast Friends is around.

"What happens when your precious Greyhounds are extinct? "

Poodles don't race. Yorkies don't race. Pitbulls don't race. Chinese crested don't race. I could go on and name hundreds of different breeds that don't race. What the heck makes you think greyhounds will become extinct?!
- closetfan, manchester

Beth,
Your " Born to Run" dogs will be brought to other tracks to compete
- John, Pembroke

Hey scotti
Why don't you roll up that "carpet bag" of yours, go back to Vermont and quit causing trouble in other states.
Your a prime example why public aid must come to an end. This way, instead of causing trouble for others, you'd be busy working to support yourself !
- Steve, Raymond

I hope they find homes for the greyhounds that worked that tracked. Greyhound racing is just plain stupid.
- Beth, Candia

Go Scotti Devens! Ruining NH businesses and livlihoods just in time for Christmas. Maybe its time that you stay on your side of the border and battle your beloved Ben & Jerry's and their farmers for producing too much greenhouse gases (sarcasm), and for contributing to National obesity and cardio vascular disease (not sarcasm). Oh wait, if B&J's goes out of business then you would lose all of your commercial industry and tax revenue.

Transplants & out of staters are ruining our beloved state one day at a time. Pretty soon our main state exports will be hemp necklaces and patchouli oil.
- Don Rubby, Exeter, NH

Scotti, Why don't you worry about your own issues in VERMONT! Go hug your trees! What happens when your precious Greyhounds are extinct? What about all the your cows in Vermont that are raised for slaughter? You going to shut down the farms next? Hinsdale closed because of the economy, not your Liberal "Save The Greyhounds" garbage.
- John, Pembroke NEW HAMPSHIRE

isn't it awful that the people who hate and make a living from the misery of others are glad to see folks lose their jobs at this time of year. Shame Grey 2 K and Ms Devlin.
- Rick Newman, Nottingham

as founder of Save The Greyhound Dogs!, simply put, now it is one down with two tracks to go!!!
