Water under the bridge.

McCain and his campaign crew are the GOP past. Palin is the future.

The media knows this and is out to destroy her.

What else is new?
- Tom, Campton

I thought McCain/Palin lost simply because they did not have what the people of the US and NH wanted. His campaign changed direction more than a school of gupies. He showed his worst side most of the campaign,,,,not that he still has or ever did have a good side. His choice of Palin was the WORST i can think of other than Cindy maybe. But palin loved it, she got her self serving face in the news everyday,,,to bad shemade such an fool of herself in front of the world, I know there's the few out here that think she's God's gift to American but they should maybe give her some lesson's on what it really takes to play the game,,she's lacking on that subject. To bad the Republican's put up their worst faces for this election, but then again, the Republican Party has been showing their worst side for some time now. The voters made the right choice, Obama/Biden will be a welcome breath of frest air from what we have NOT become use too.

""What we found was a guy who was bottom of his college class, dismissed his 1st marriage, remarried for money, and worked off of his paternal Navy/Congress connections, then off of his wife's company's connections""

Many of these personal things that don't define whether or not he'd be a good president. And to make the assumption that he married for money, well that just makes the sayer look stupid on their part. Unless you know any of these candidates in person on a personal level, you need to shut your piehole. When people bring up the Reverend and Bill Ayers they do so because while Obama was "serving" this country, he was giving money to people who don't necessarily love this country and have hurt it. The two are not comparable. We could attack Obama for Michelle's pricey pay raise directly after he became senator or dig into how she paid for her pricey college degree, but that will never be looked at.

Obama didn't win because he has better experience..because at least in my opinion, he doesn't. Does that mean he can't make good decisions? No but the lack of experience is scary to some people.

There are a lot of Obama supporters that truly believe in him and that is great. But from what I've heard from many of my own friends and people off the street who voted for him, he was simply the "annointed" one from the get go. "The not old one".. "the black one".. Like another commenter said, this was an uphill battle from the get go for the Republican party and the mainstream media's holy like coverage of Obama and negative coverage (if any at all) of McCain, got to many American's heads.

Hopefully he can truly bring the "change" he speaks of. Otherwise, if he proves to have been speaking empty promises, wake me up in 2012.
- Les, Derry

There seems to be a lot of Palin bashing going on. And guess what? It's the mainstream, democrat supporter, media. Newsweek editors should be ashamed of themselves for publishing this slander.

Any allegations from "anonymous" should be verified before slandering any person.

Even Mr Combs (the liberal side of Hannity & Combs) discussed the false allegations and reported them as so including the reasons for the clothing allowance, her knowledge of NAFTA and Africa and the towel incident.

Leave the poor woman alone. Enough is enough. The campaigning is over so lets just let it go.

Quote: BLAH BLAH Reverend Wright BLAH BLAH William Ayers BLAH terrorist, BLAH palistinian BLAH khalidi BLAH the destruction of Isreal BLAH convicted Toni Rheshko

It was *this* that lost McCain the election. None of this checks out to more than namecalling, and it's about time someone got their ass kicked for the behavior.

Obama addressed the questions, McCain talked smack and told us to "trust him," he was the experienced one. And he lost because of it. Hopefully the GOP will come up with something better next time - and maybe someone who actually thinks will vote for them again.

If you can't read the subtext here: Karl Rove, don't even apply. You've done enough damage in the 3 elections you've been involved with, to your party and to your country.
- Keith, Lousiville. CO

It's wonderful that the media can brainwash people like Tom Labrie. Because of his tabloid education, Labrie is qualified to discuss, and judge, what went on in the McCain household for nearly six years while Mccain was locked in the Hanoi Hilton.

Unfortunately, Mr. Labrie is probably going to find out soon that Obama is unfit t be Commander-In-Chief.

The job is way above Obama's pay grade.
- Bill Howard, Exeter

It is absurd that in the year 2008 Barrack Hussein Obama (AND the world) has to wait till the end of January 2009 to be inaugarated.
- Frank Jennings, Queensland, Australia

Mr. Labrie: re: "he doesn't have the skill set to be President. Especially when compared to Obama"

Yes, I suppose you're right. Obama's spiritual adviser was Reverend Wright (i.e GD America?), his birth certificate still won't be released since it would possibly show he isn't a native born American, he hung around with William Ayers (a self proclaimed terrorist, he was a good friend of palistinian leader khalidi who vowed the destruction of Isreal, he was a community organizer in crime-ridden Chicago with a convicted Toni Rheshko, his mentor college professor was a avowed communist, he promised "CHANGE" but never told you what change he wanted. Yeh, I suppose he's got the skill set to be president. This is someone we'll be able to look up to. Under FBI rules, Obama doesn't even qualify to be a body guard for himself. Hmmmmm
- Dennis, Merrimack, NH

"Patriot fluff" Tom!?! What have you ever given to this country? I'd bet nothing at all. McCain is a hero and good man who has devoted his life in service to this country. You are a despicable person if you think it is okay to call McCain's POW status as "patriot fluff."

Regardless, McCain ran a great campaign. The tides were against all Republicans this year and it was an uphill climb from the get go. Obama WILL be a failure. I hope to be proven wrong, but we already see his liberal partisanship in whom he has chosen as chief of staff. I'll be happy to sit on the side lines and critically watch every step Obama makes. Anyways, there is a difference in disagreeing over policies and the like, but you are a sad sad person when you make fun of a man's prisoner of war turmoil. You should be ashamed of yourself Tom, but after reading your horribly mean comment, I doubt that you are.
- Ryan Feltner, Manchester, New Hampshire

Wow. "POW super patriot fluff". Some people are just unbelievable. I think it is easy to make arguments against McCain, his campaign, or his positions without that.
- Doug, Hooksett

McCain did not lose here or nationwide because of a bad economy.

McCain lost in NH because he showed insufficient brainpower/education/temperament, ie he doesn't have the skill set to be President. Especially when compared to Obama.

Ironically enough, people barked, "he has experience," which only invited a good look at McCain beyond the POW super-patriot fluff.

What we found was a guy who was bottom of his college class, dismissed his 1st marriage, remarried for money, and worked off of his paternal Navy/Congress connections, then off of his wife's company's connections.

McCain, it turns out, has never excelled at anything on his own his whole life. Then he picks Palin. No John it wasn't the economy, it was you.
- Tom Labrie, Rochester

Basically what we have here is the newsmedia making up stories from "anonymous sources" in an attempt to totally trash Palin so she will never come back. This is the same crap that happened to Ferraro when she ran. It's amazing how our female candidates are treated by the media. The media should be held to account for this.
- pcnav, Tampa, Fl

I've seen about an equal volume of articles in the news regarding the strife within the McCain Camp as those regarding the new Obama administration. I suppose it is true that people rather hear about the bad than the good.

Unfortunately, this article never cites the Newsweek's sources. It is impossible to know what to believe without seeing the actual article itself. Either Newsweek is lying in order to jump on the Where-McCain-Went-Wrong bandwagon for some cheap news, or Duprey is trying to mitigate the reality.

My guess is that we'll never know.
