I HAVE KNOWN THE LYSKAWA FAMILY FOR MANY YEARS RACING WITH BRUCE IN THE TWINSPORT HD SERIES. MANY VISITS TO BRUCES BASEMENT IN LONDONDERRY BUILDING BIKES FOR THE NEXT RACE EVENT. ALEX AND BRENT WERE SO YOUNG IN DIAPERS AND INTO EVERYTHING AS KIDS ARE. BEING NURTURED INTO MOTORCYCLING THRU THE WISDOM OF THERE DAD ITS ONLY EVIDENT THESE BOYS WERE GOING TO BE STARS ON THE TARMACK. I HAD THE OPERTUTINITY TO GRID UP AT LOUDON WITH THE BOYS IN A 125CC GP RACE WHEN USGPRU WERE AT THE CLASSIC, AFTER BEING LAPPED BY BRENT AND ALEX I TRIED TO KEEP UP TO LEARN THERE SECRETS, SO TALENTED. THE RACE COMMUNITY WILL BE DEPRIVED OF THIS NEW STAR BUT FOR MY FRIEND BRUCE AND THE LYSKAWA FAMILY THERE IS NO GREATER LOSS. GODSPEED ALEX!

I just heard of Alex's passing today from a local rider in FL. I feel lucky to have seen him race here at the Miami Homestead raceway in February. My friends and I who witnessed him racing were stunned when we found out how young he was. So much talent in such a young man. He will be missed in the racing world.
My condolences to the Lyskawa family and their friends.
- Steven Seidner, Coral Springs, FL
My best friend went out with him. She was devastated. We will love you forever Alex...

I knew Alex very well. A racer as myself it's very hard to see such a young kid die in a incident. Next time I ever get first i am going to dedicate it to Alex and the Lyskawa family. Alex was a very nice person. Out of all the articales I have read the all said that his smile lite up the room. I know that was a fact. I was at the wake today and Mrs.Lyskawa said "he died a happy kid" and I believe that all the way. I only got to race with him once or twice and I will always remember that. Alex Dylan Lyskawa will always be my idle in dirtbiking, a sport that we both love.

I never had the pleasure to know or to have met Alex but by the tributes above he sounds like a he was a class act on and off the track and a good young kid who had a passion, addiction, for racing. Some of us who have or are lucky enough to experience that passion, addiction Know what I am talking about, the adrenlin is like no other. Some may live a long life but never really live it. My heartfelt thoughts prayers are with his family and also with his many friends at the track as well away from it so sorry. Paul Ouellette aamrr#340 (ret in 86) P.S. Alex had a nice looking ride.

We have only known you, Alex, for a few short years, but it will be difficult to imagine not seeing your smile, witnessing your competitive spirit on the field or the court, or hearing your jokes in the classroom. If the example of your good sportsmanship is any indication of the life you led, you have won a fine race, and have beaten us all to paradise! With love and prayers for you and your family,

My most heartfelt condolences to all of Alex's family. You have been in my thoughts and prayers since I heard of Alex passing last weekend. He was a truly special kid, and will be sorely missed. The lasting picture I have of him in my head is bouncing around the paddock at NHMS on a pogo stick, laughing, smiling and having the time of his life. He was a happy, talented kid who was loved and cared for by a great family. I hope that everyone who is having a tough time dealing with his loss can be comforted, if just a little, by the countless fond memories Alex left with us all.
- Eric Wood, Ashburnham, MA
Alex will be sorely missed and always remembered as a part of the LRRS family.
It was a joy to watch him compete on the track.
Shame on those of you who would discredit his family for allowing an exceptional young man to compete in the sport he loved.
Alex will be forever loved and missed by those of us who watched over him doing what he loved most.
Godspeed Alex.

I was at the track Monday; we were seated overlooking turns 4-6 I believe; the accident happened at the crest of a hill and we could barely see what was going on...one ambulance, than two, than three. As two drove away we assumed everyone was alright; but the third never left. As spectators and onlookers began to return to the bleachers we learned of the tragic details but refused to believe it actually happened. Later that night we grew curious as to just what happened at SP and if what we had heard was true...it was then we learned it was Alex-only 13.
I admire his courage to go out and race w/ the "big boys". I admire his spirt to go out and chase his dreams down on his Honda RS125. Most of all I admire his parents who helped Alex achieve his dream-ignore the ignorance of those who criticize your parenting-you helped your sons dreams bloosm and bloom-take all the good memories and hold tightly to them.
We were at the track that day b/c my husband wants to get into racing. From what I've read about Alex; I can only hope my husband is half the racer Alex was; I hope he is as strong willed, determined and as skilled as Alex was.
My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Lyskawa family and thier friends. I wish you peace and comfort in your time of loss.
- Katie, Inwood WV
Alex was a great kid and still is he is the bestkid ever. He was a great teammate and friend to me, always there for the team me and my brother. This is not a good bye we all know that you are taking laps around the track an picking your corners for lacrosse..We are still lovin you man.

So sad, I only remember him as the cute little kid behind the counter once in a while at "the shop" when we were there to buy MX parts.
GODSPEED ALEX.

My condolences to Alex's family and friends. Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to see him race but by his accomplishments he had attained, I feel we lost a young superstar that was destined for a bright career in roadracing if that is the path he chose.
It's never easy losing a loved one and I couldn't imagine losing my child at such a young age but may we all come to realize that surely Alex wouldn't want us to be sad, he would likely want us to remember the good times and appreciate what time he did have with us.
- Steve Johnson, Austin, TX

Alex was a great friend! He was funny, he made us laugh and he was a very likable guy. I have a lot of memories of funny things that he did in school. He was also a fellow wrestler to me and even though it was his first year, he was really good. He was technicaly in 6 of my classes too and he would always make jokes and get us into trouble. Hahaha I miss him a lot; its like when he passed, he took a part of me with him. There were soo many things he would always say he wanted to do and never really got to do them... I will always remember Alex as like a brother and one of my best friends.

Whenever I visit my friend Brian in Londonderry, it makes me proud when I drive by the Lyskawa house that we have a great race team from New England. At tracks like Road Atlanta, it gave us a local connection to root for. Thanks for giving Alex the opportunity to represent us.

Dear Bruce, Brent & Family,
I was devastated to hear this story after missing this past weekend in Summit Point. I can only imagine how you guys are feeling.
The youngsters were always the ones to light up the paddock and make everyone smile, especially since you had a great group of boys that could ride really well and were always a joy to be around.
The feeling for your loss is widespread and I am sure everyone will have him in our hearts this weekend up in Loudon, where he will be forever missed as a part of our racing family.
Godspeed.
- Eric Sampson, Wayne, NJ
to you who can not understand how "parents" like us could put our kids on bikes. well I am a parent who has a 6 and 8 year old on those bikes. (motorcross, dirt bikes) I had no choice my kids were so adimet about it I gave in I tried to tell them no way. They hated sports to slow to boring. i don't want them getting fat like most kids these days and its a fact almost all racers do better in school because of how focused they are. you can be killed riding a bike down the road or in your own back yard, we don't chose how to live or die, that is god's will. If you can't undrestand us come watch for your self there are so many motorcross tracks in N.H. you can come to one of them and then judge. And for the record all motor cross people wear about or at least 1,000 dollars in protective gear. what happened to this family was a freak accident that is all. god bless this moto family.

I did know Alex, but I heard he could light up a room or garage by just smiling. He taught my mom how to use a pogo stick and is said to have been one of the nicest kids you'll ever meet.

Roadracing is no more dangerous than any other sport - the safety measures are incredible and far more advances if anything. This was a tragic accident and I hope Alex's friends and family never feel any guilt for allowing Alex to pursue his dream! Some kids will never have the experience of living a dream - Alex did live his dream - He was loved by his family and friends more than we can ever imagine. I have a daughter who rides horses. A world champion rider died a short time ago - I'm not going to stop her from pursuing her dream of riding because of an accident - if that were the case, I'd never leave the house again! More people are killed in car accidents on the way to the store than in road racing accidents.

Bruce, Brent & Family,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Alex on Monday. He was a great kid and a shining light amoung dull stars of the racing world. I have fond memories of the little man and cant imagine how you are feeling.
I just wanted to let you know you are in my thoughts and the thoughts of the racing family here in Ireland. May he rest in peace.
Mark AKA 'The Bigman'
- Mark 'Bigman' Kelly, Kilkenny, Ireland
Bruce and Family,
I haven't seen Alex for a few years now having retired from racing, but I remember him most as a young lad learning his trade to accomplish a wonderful dream that only a handful of professional athletes are capable of achieving.
As an American racer myself from NH who learned the trade at Laconia's Bryar Motorsport Park in the 80's. I feel for family at their loss of Alex's young life at the crest of his successful beginnings. I encourage everyone to remember our State's Motto "Live Free or Die" and carry on with life as he would have.
I did Accomplish my dream to win the Daytona 200 nine long years after graduating Winnacunnet HS in Hampton, NH. 28 men have done that in the world, I'm only one from Winnacunnett though. Alex had what it took to make it to the top of Motorcycle Roadracing and no one should say he shouldn't have been on a motorcycle. Most of us will say it was racing as a family that was a big part of what made Alex who he was. He raced and worked along side his Dad and family and the whole family brought a harmony and class to our all our events as fellow competitors.
Alex, get my bike ready, but no hurry...hopefully I'll get to race you on the clouds in about 40 years.

Pat, Bruce and boys, we are devastated by the news of Alex's accident. Our hearts go out to you. The sheets of rain here tonight in PA are the tears the we (and many other) cry for you. Know that we care and are thinking of you.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Alex, but am moved to tears over his tragic loss. My condolences go out to the Lyskawa family.
I am 24 years old and have raced motorcycles since I was 6 years old. Some people, such as Mr. Marc, who have never ridden motorcycles can't understand why someone would subject themselves to such risks. For most who ride (and from what i've read about Alex) it is a passion, a life-style, and a challenging craft to master. Racing is not about adreniline fueled thrill-seeking. It is a competition with your own skill trying to out preform the abilities of others. This kid had talent. I'm sure he was not forced to ride a motorcycle, he did it because he loved it. He wanted the opportunity to expand his talent, refine his craft, and pursue his dreams. Racing is one of the most family oriented sports, full of intelligent friendly people. It was part of what made Alex the great kid that he was. As tragic as his death is, I hope people will try to understand that not everyone views living in the same way, and not use this as an excuse to critizice motorcycles and those who love them.
No words can ease the pain felt by the Lyskawa family. Take pride and comfort in knowing that Alex lived every day to the fullest and accomplished more in 13 years than many do in a lifetime. You will see him again someday.

I played soccer with Alex for three years and knew him well. As soon as I found out what had happened, I was devastated, as was my family. My family and I will never forget who you. Many thoughts and prayers.

I was one of Alex's teachers last year. I too remeber Alex for his smile and his sense of humor. I feel very fortunate to have been able to know him. As I read through the postings, it is obvious what a great friend Alex was and how many lives he has touched in so many different ways. As I watched the faces of our students at LMS today, it iwas easy to see how much they loved and respected Alex. My heart aches for his family and friends.

Alex was a friend of mine, and it is heart stopping to see a friend go like that. It is unbelievable to me, and I am still in shock. It makes no sense why a kid that was this nice, had his life taken away, but he did it in a sport of which he had a passion for. I will cherish the memories of Alex for the rest of my life. I am extremely sorry for loss of Alex, and my prayers go toward him and his family. Londonderry Middle School has been mournful all day, and we will miss you.

Lyskawa Family & Friends-
We are all touched by Alex, I didnt talk to him much but when I did, he was always ready to listen. He always had a smile on and never put anyone in a bad situation. He was the first I told about me & my family being into ATVing & Dirt Bikes. Its a dangerous sport and has its end. He was an amzing young boy who made you smile by just saying "Hi". Im sorry for your loss and tragic ending. May his prayers & soul be with you and close friends. We will all miss him. Rest In Peace my friend....

So sad to see the small ones go. My deepest sympathies go out to the Lyskawa family. We'll all miss Alex too. Godspeed #77.

alex was an amazing person. i never really got the chance to know him even though i went to school with him until very reciently. he was a very good student, friend, and brother. he treated everybody like they were part of his family. there is not one bad thing that can be said about him because he never did anything stupid or that he could get in trouble for. his whole life was about racing. his older brother is a very good racer, just as he was. everybody in my school is mourning very much. he was loved by everybody he met and i am happy i met him. may he rest in peace and i wish his family the best.<333

Dear Bruce & Family,
Having ridden with both Brent and Alex I know how much they love their racing. I was going to pack up and leave after I heard the tragic news but then knew in my heart that is not what Alex would have wanted. It was an emotional ride for all of us on the Lind MotorSports team in the 250 race. Alex will be missed and forever remembered for his smile and passion for racing. We are saddened by this tragedy and pray for you and your family during this most difficult time.

We are so deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Alex. He leaves and indelible mark on the organization and community and from a personal standpoint the Cole family.
We will never forget that smile. Alex always wore one and nothing makes you feel better than when you are on the receiving end. Alex was a competitor and loved being a team mate, he was so coachable and soaked it all in. Whether it was the field of grass or on the hard court, Alex loved to compete and more importantly loved to be a part of the team. As result, every one of those teams loved Alex too. Outside of so many great years of football, one of many of these sports Alex played was LBC travel basketball. I was blessed to coach on that team for two years and what comes to mind today was that when Alex Lyskawa #4 hit a shot (he especially loved that 15 footer from the corner) the entire bench went nuts. He would make a shot or a foul shot and look over to our bench and smile ear to ear. I will never forget that smile.
The smile translated into usually cracking us up. So many times whether an overnight, grabbing him for a dance or High School football game he would just plain crack us up and help us smile and chuckle. Like one night when he sure did have enough cologne on and the ensuing quiet comment that had the vehicle in stitches or just the boys playing in the yard (finding the bees which boys do) and the laughter we got out of what did you guys think was going to happen?
Alex was a team mate, neighbor and friend to so many. He was a Wildcat and Panther that will be missed by all he touched. Alex is a brother and a Son. Please keep Pat, Bruce and their family in your prayers today and weeks from today. I know from personal experience how much they care about all of us. Today my children put his picture on the fridge. I, like so many will choose to remember that smile!
- Chris Cole, Londonderry
Alex was the best friend I ever knew on the football field my first year. I remember Joel, Alex, Zac, and I always tackling trying to make the best of each play I am very devastated to hear about the passing of my great friend. Many people including me were very upset and crying today because of what happened. I just hope Kevin, Chris, Brent, and Alex's mom and dad are feeling a little better. I remember Kevin saying to me last football season "I want to play football just like my big brother". I'll never forget that you all in my prayers I miss you man and am hear for anything!

I did not know Alex, but I was at the track and the news of the accident travelled quickly through the pits and impacted everyone there. I have great respect and empathy for Alex's family in this time of loss. Just know that we are all on this earth for a limited time, we cannot change when we leave, but we can change how we live.
- Jerry Reid, Zebulon, NC
To Alex's family and friends. We are all grieving over Alex's passing. I was at the track when this happened. The whole motorcycle racing community is one big family. Everyone is hurting from this tragedy. We have lost a son and brother. Please find comfort in knowing that he is in Heaven with the Lord. We will fondly remember Alex and his infectuos smile, and the happy life he lead. Rest in Peace Little Brother. God Bless the Lyskawa Family.

Pat, Bruce & Boys,
As the rain falls from the sky, I can't help but think it is the tears from all the people that have been touched by this tragidy:-(
Alex was a great kid. He will be greatly missed by all. His love for racing was apparent to all that knew him. In my discussions with Pat about the kids and their activities we frequently discussed motercycle racing(which is an activiy I engaged in as a child) as a fun family activity. This is how I also remembered it. We all know of the risks involved but do all we can to help prevent any harm. And pray that God watches over us. This is a horrible tragady. We need to reach out and help one another through this tough time, as a community!
Our thought and prayers are with you. Let us know if we can do anything to help. God Bless!

Pat, Bruce and all of the Cady-Lyskawa family:
Our hearts go out to you. I had the pleasure of taking care of Alex when he was a baby. He was just a great kid. (as are the rest of the kids)
To Marc in Mason: This was a loving involved family. This was a sport that the family was involved in and every protective measure was taken. How many kids can say that their parents are this involved in their lives? These are really good people. To comment such as you did was really hurtful to the people that know and love this family!
Pat Bruce and boys, If there is anything we may to to help you through this time and after please give us a call.
You are in out though and prayers,

To Marc in Mason:
How very tasteless and inappropriate for you to exploit this family's tragedy as an opportunity for you to get on your soapbox and rail against parents putting their kids "into such a dangerous situation." It's a sad fact that children's lives are cut short by all manner of avoidable injuries, including those suffered in reputedly "safe" sports like baseball and football. An 80 mph pitch or a helmet-to-helmet impact can kill just as easily as a motorcycle. Certainly such fatalities are rare, but just as in organized stick-and-ball sports, Alex was obliged to wear the necessary safety equipment appropriate to his activity. Sadly, no protective gear in any sport can guarantee 100% safety in all situations.
No parent consciously puts their children in harm's way, which is why my 7-year-old never gets on her dirt bike without a helmet, goggles, pads, boots, etc. Likewise, she doesn't play soccer without shin guards, or ride her bicycle without a helmet. I manage her risk as much as possible, but I'm not about to deny her the opportunity to pursue activities that will contribute to her physical and mental growth.
She may never race, but I'm just as proud of her accomplishment in learning to ride as I'm sure Alex's parents are of his racing success. From everything I've read about him, Alex was an exceptional young man with exceptional parents. I hope they can take comfort from the 13 years they were able to spend with him, and that they provided him with opportunities that few kids ever experience. My thoughts are with you, Mr. and Mrs. Lyskawa.
- Dan Wildhirt, Longmont, CO

Both my grown sons and my daughter-in-law are very involved in MARRC and through them, I am also. We can never understand why the Lord takes someone who is so young and has so much to offer. One of the things which I keep in mind is that he was doing something he apparently loved dearly! Please find comfort in knowing he is in a better world and that he is NOT forgotten nor will he ever be! The Lord be with you!

I am so sorry, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Alex was a great kid, I enjoyed watching him race.

Such a sad thing to happen to such a wonderful family. Bruce & Cady--I know I speak for everyone from BTG and FS when I say our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this most difficult time.
- Pat Bailey, Hudson, NH
It's great to see kids out there doing things rather than sitting in front of a TV or video game. It's a sad tragic accident. I feel bad for the family and friends. On the flip side though, I do not understand why kids at his age and younger are allowed to be put on a motor vehicle and put into such a dangerous situation. You leave your kids in the car for a few minutes to get a quart of milk and get arrested for child endangerment, yet you put your kid on a motorcycle in a dangerous race, and you are an American hero. Go figure?
- Marc, Mason
Mr. and Mrs. Lyskawa,
I was lucky enough to have Alex in my Language Arts class last year, he was an exceptionally bright student with a wonderful sense of humor and added a lot of fun and laughter to our classroom. I am heartbroken but please know my thoughts are with you and your family.

Bruce & Pat,
Judy and I are so sad for you both and your family, at such a tragic, untimely loss of Alex. I remember when Alex was an infant, and we were all out to dinner with our families at a bus convention. Alex was not happy about something at the table, and shot his chocolate milk glass across the table, against the wall, and the milk hit the curtains and wall at the restaurant. Bruce, you Pat maintained your collective cool, although I am not sure how. I was impressed. Alex was a wonderful boy, and by the tributes that I am reading, he continued to grow into a wonderful young teenager. We are so very sorry.
- Gig Michaud, Marblehead, MA
I was at the track as a spectator. My deepest, deepest sympathies to Alex's family and friends.
- Michael, Hagerstown, MD
