With four candidates in the Republican U.S. Senate primary, and at least one more still considering running, the race will be about far more than cut-and-dried distinctions on ideology.

Everyone is so quick to judge and so quick to name call. Get the facts straigt and only the facts so your own personal agenda. (1) Yes he got stopped for DWI (2) Yes he was driving over the speed limit (3) Yes, he plead in a court of Law and is paying for it. Did he do it on the States time? NO was he in a State owned vehicle? NO Did he use state money to pay his fines or other costs? NO - He made a mistate like many others have and now he is paying for the consequences. Pertaining to him supposidly hiding in Europe... In January 2007 he planed to spend his last semester studying in Euorpe which he worked extremely hard to acheive and now it seems because this stupid article came out people assume the reason was because of the DWI. Get a life, instead of interfering with everyone elses. Why don't you direct your soap box speaches to a more positive note. Look at everything Michael has done for the State of New Hampshire instead of a mistake he did in his personal life. Walk in his shoes for a day and tell me how easy it is.

Funny how nearly every story printed in the Union Leader, regardless of topic, seems to lead to a partisan ‘us vs. them’ rant in the reader forum. As I would expect, the party chair has given us the requisite guarded sound bite. That is Buckley’s job and I would certainly expect no less from Fergus Cullen. Chappaquiddick is always a convenient arrow to be pulled from the quiver. But Kennedy’s transgressions notwithstanding, the suggestion that Mr. Brunelle’s predicament will be swept under the rug simply because he happens to be a Democrat, is ridiculous.

I am sure this will not derail his political career, as his "rite of passage" was also shared by our President and Vice President, both of who were a lot older than 23 when they were arrested for DWI. Hypocrisy? Hmmmm.

We the citizens of this state hold our office holders to a higher standard, as they are representing not only the adults, but our children. Rep. Brunelle, knew this when he ran for Office. He has violated our trust he has broken the law. He has hurt all the families who have lost a loved one at the hands of a drunk driver. He should do the honorable thing and resign his position as a State Representative. No more excuses. Hiding in Europe only shows his disrespect. If my father was here today he'd say Shame on you Rep. Brunelle.

Yeah, how unfortunate...Mikey got a Diwi... Driving under the influence is a very serious matter...I bet Mike is especially relieved that he didn't have an accident or injure somebody. This really shows a momentary lapse in judgment. many people get pinched for DWI in their 20's, so this will not haunt him forever...it will be a non-issue. I mean, after all, its not like he is a Republican where such an arrest will become a political issue. Democrat=non-issue; Republican=major political issue. But I am not going to call it hypocracy...its more of a right of passage...Like Teddy Kennedy, Mike was "on a bridge" with a snootfull. the difference is he didn't end up in the Merrimack and then walk home soaking wet.

How unfortunate that this should happen perhaps now he could apologize for his attacks on the late Rep. Bob Chabot for his failure to attend Legislative sessions when he was dying of cancer, and an apology to former Rep. Leo Pepino for his unable to attend sessions at the time his wife was dying of cancer. These comments were made on MCam. Hiding in Europe will not make this go away. lets see how the Democrats will try to bury this problem with one of their leaders.
