I have a wood stove and I use it for heat and oil for the hot water. The problem with wood stove you have to keep up with it, and it means going out in snow and ice to get the wood. I rather have a pellet stove it is easier to buy a 40 lbs bags than wood. you don't have to wait a year for the wood to dry

The Aga company of England has made for years an insulated massively heavy kitchen stove that uses thermal mass to keep it's ovens hot, but is expensive to buy and is mostly seen in homes of the very rich.
The good think here is that less pollution is made. That's an unlikely thing to impress most readers here it would seem. But it impresses me, as people's incomplete burning of wood for heat is a health hazard to asthmatics & children, and needs to be curtailed by law. It's seems like one out of ten woodstoves is operated like a ham smoker.
