As a foreign national, I have to laugh at the fact that 'liberal' is used in a negative context.
Social democracy is the standard of the western world and the USA is very far behind the curve for the quality of life of the average citizen.
- Aaron, Sydney, Australia

Thanks to Scott Brooks (and Matt Drudge), this is one of the best-read stories ever on UnionLeader.com.

We've received hundreds of comments on this article. Most were posted, almost all were worth reading. However, no more comments will be posted on this story.
- Charlie Perkins, UnionLeader.com

Maybe no one was around because no one knew John McCain was coming to NH. I read the news everyday, work in Rochester and the first hint I had was this morning a few hours before the event. Those campaign managers need to take a course in Campaign management 101.
- Janet, Rye, NH

Appalling - - there isn't even a pretense of objective news reporting. What we have is an undisguised bunch of ideological hacks who are making it clear that they are in the tank for the obamessiah. The "gleesome threesome" who purportedly represent the network 'news' are simply along the obamessiah's whirlwind tour to be cheerleaders. Thank God for Fox News - they at least offer both conservative and liberal points of view.
- Pamela, Washington NH

I hope everyone remembers all of this enthusiasm when your taxes are thru the roof, oil is at $300 a barrel and no new exploration takes place. Make sure you enjoy $10 a gallon and riding the RTD bus in your Obama t-shirt to work at McDonalds.
- John Howard, LA, Calif.

Hope this didn't ruin his plans to announce VP choice.

Is it not somebody's job to make sure there are a bunch of people standing around with McCain posters for a photo op?

From McCain's expression I think he had another hand gesture in mind other than the "OK" signal.

While it is impossible to argue against media bias is in favor of Obama - this event shows that McCain's campaign people are asleep at the wheel. With the chips stacked against him, his campaign people can't let something like this happen and expect to make any inroads.
- Joe, Leesburg, VA

Over the years, McCain always impressed me as live, active guy always on the go. He has seemed a miracle energy for a 5 year guest of the Hanoi Hilton. Now he looks perpetually tired. Slow to move, slow to reply to a question or make a point, and seeming that he is half asleep. But I am only 2 years younger than McCain so I know that his seeming tiredness and slow response may be simply an illusion and not representative of his pep and vigor. I just hope the illusion doesn't cost him votes but I'm afraid it might.
- Jim Zerkel, Baxley GA

Fred in Hudson, Florida stated "After the N.Y. Times snub of McCain's report and now this, I will support John McCain. The Times and the news media should be ashamed for acting like Communist Cuba's news organization"

Just the opposite... the editorial McCain read was nothing but an attack on Obama and nothing on what McCain's thoughts and plans on the issue. McCain has lost it. For a few hundreds to show up when he speaks and for Obama to have tens of thousands is WHY the media is following Obama... he is news! McCain isn't!!!
- Dale Hopson, New York,NY

There is and has always been a bias towards the dems in the media. We'll live with it. I bet many more people know about the nyt refusal to print Sen. McCain's letter once it aired on Fox last night, then if they had printed it. Obama doesn't apprear to REALLY care about America and love it, like he should. That disturbs me, and it should disturb any American reading this. He has very limited experience and the experience he does have is so liberal, it goes against the majority of our countries beliefs. Look up info on him and his voting record. Then come back and we'll see if you're cheering.
- Laurie, Needham, Ma.

Why should the press cover McCain? They have already declared Obama the winner and it doesn't matter what the American people think.

They believe it is their duty and right to tell the people who the best person is to lead the free word and to hell with trivial things like fairness or the peoples right to know about the candidates running for the highest office of this great country.

To the main stream media an actual election in which the people decide the outcome of this presidential campaign is a waste of time and money and they think they know what's best for us.
- Jim Kijek, Lexington KY

Why don't we just call this treatment what it is.. a campaign donation. Then they have to obey the federal laws governing such.

After all, we saw much the same treatment for Clinton in 1992. The irony was that after getting their favorite elected, the MSM then worked on getting a Republican Congress put together by implying the Democratic party was dying

I so hate reruns.
- Richard Helm, Deltona, FL

At what point should the NBC, CBS and ABC be required to also register a 527 group? According to Wikipedia in the 2006 election cycle the larges 527 has about $20M to work with. Certainly seems as if the mainstream media outlets are giving Obama millions in free adverstising - possibly rivaling the larges t527s.
- Tony, Charlestown, IN

Delegates, just vote for Ron Paul at the convention and save this country.
- Mike, Gaffney, SC

Soon, we will inaugurate the first African American as President of the United States of America. Even with the tight race we are experiencing now, the ultimate victory will go to Barack H. Obama.

Why, because the American people want a change and want it now. They don't really know why they want change, they only know they want it. Much like the half hour comedy shows or hour action/drama shows on television, unless they stimulate you to some degree no matter how good they are, soon the American audience wants a change.

It doesn't really matter if the new show is any good or not, it is a new show and the audience tunes in with great anticipation and enthusiasm. The problem is that this is not a television show and you cannot change the channel once it is on the air.

The bias of the news media is nothing new. It has been biased all along but when there were actual professionals and grown-ups running the show, at least the appearance of fairness was there. Now, any attempt at fair treatment at anything conservative, John McCain is out the window and personal political opinions and persuasion has taken its place.

Ultimately, the biggest loser in all this is the average American no matter what part of the country they live in. When you cannot get an honest news report or fair coverage, we all lose.
- Bart Rogers, Timmonsville, SC

If McCain is going to just run lame, sophmoric ads like the one trying to blame Obama for the price of gas, he is going to get annihilated in this election im afraid. There are so many legit things to go after Obama and the Dems on, and its as if they afraid to do it.
There is no energy, no passion among voters for McCain, so it's going to take Obama screwing up royaly for him to lose, unfortunately.
- JIM H, KING OF PRUSSIA

Oh, what a party of whiners! McCain should be glad that the media isn't there to question his pathetic policies, lack of knowledge, or numerous gaffes
- Tino, Atlanta, GA

How exactly would you prefer they cover the much anticipated arrival of John McCain in New Hampshire. A better question than why isn't the press scrambling around him snapping pictures to capture this historic moment, but why is there not a single supporter. I would think supporters would show up before the press but then again McCain's support is mostly just whiners that don't really like him anyway. Anyways, if the fact that the press is covering the democratic nominees european tour with more gusto than they are covering McCain business as usual, is nothing out of the ordinary and is pathetic that you are demanding wall to wall coverage of John McCain doing nothing.
- Steve, Crawford, Tx

Media bias? Yeah toward a buck. The media follow what is going to sell...period. I respect McCain, this guy is a hero no doubt. But there's nothing new there, nothing that is going to catch anyone's attention. Obama is history happening, McCain is history that already happened. Guys stop crying about "media bias", it sounds just sad. You had your shot over the last eight and your guy totally blew it.
- Joe, Philadelphia, PA

His campaign slogan is, "Reform, Prosperity, Peace"? Are you KIDDING me? This from the guy that wants to occupy the Middle East for 100 years, impose a carbon tax, and start us on the path to socialized health care?

Talk about AUDACITY...
- Allen, Houston, TX

As long as there is Rush and Fox you needn't worry about the "liberal media".
- Al, KC

By the amount of media devotion to Obama it is telling. Even if they affect 5% of voters that is huge. We have freedom of press but what about when they become part of the election process themselves? Something is not right.
- John, Dayton, OH

Obama is gonna win this thing looking away! McCain is by far the better leader, but in a video game/text message/internet world, Obama will be the one who wins.
- Tom R., Islamorada, FL

For the first time people are taking notice of the media's blatant agenda and bias. They love him because he looks different from every other U.S President.

Who was it that said...judge not by the color of his skin but the content of his character?
- Doug, Providence, RI

Who would you want to cover?

An exciting, charismatic young man who has energized millions to vote. Oh yeah, and he happens to be making history because he's black. Or, another white guy in a suite, who's kind of boring, and if he wins is just another old white guy in the oval office. No brainer.

I've been to 10 conventions. Five Democrat, and 5 Republican. I've seen old white men get the nomination before, and it got kind of old after Reagan. I've never seen a black man get it. I can only attend one this year. Which should I choose? No brainer.
- Brooks Boliek, Silver Spring, Md.

Actually, McCain's getting less coverage due to the media's pro-McCain bias. If they devoted more air-time to McCain, they'd have to cover every stupid thing he says every time he opens his goddamn mouth, and they don't want him to look bad.
- Wil Burns, Mrntor, Ohio 44060

The MSM bias to the far left is blantant and undeniable.
...it sheds alot of light on Nancy Pelosi's desire to bring back the fairness doctrine claiming that its needed to keep AM radio stations from becoming "one sided" in their views.
The socialist movement in America wants to do what all socialist regimes do...silence the opposition.
- Bart, San Diego

There sure is a lot of time and energy being expended here railing about the MSM. I don't watch TV news or listen to talk radio, at all. Why bother? It is all entertainment, not information you can actually use. I get my information from a multitude of other sources and I will match my knowledge of current events against anyone.
- Kevin McGee, Annapolis, MD

Listen folks, don't get discouraged: of course the main stream media is solidly behind Obama and ignoring McCain, would you expect it any other way? Yet, McCain is holding his own against the Media Darling, Barry. Things will tighten-up considerably come convention time, and this mid-summer swoon for Barry will seem like ancient history.
- Dean, Hartford, CT

The GOP and it's few reamining supporters have become a party of total whiners....LOL! Just look at the posters here for verification.

If you simps on the right want to know what the media fascination is with Obama, I will let you in a secret. It is because they know he will be the next President and John McCain will be the next Bob Dole. The only people to blame for this are your party leaders....the ones that brought us 5.00 per gallon of gas, a mortgage meltdown and Terry Schaivo politics. Enjoy the bed you made...losers.
- J. White, Oakland, CA

I'm concerned about McCain playing in to the media hype for Obama by just being plain old dull. He's got to shake up the establishment soon or he's gone. Obama's an empty suit it should be easy but so far McCain's propensity is to play along. He better hurry up and prove he really wants the presidency! No offense to senior Mr. Bush but what kind of message is that sending too? Hmmmm?
- P Decaneas, Londonderry, NH

Ironic that McCain just came out with a new ad about how the media loves Obama. I just hope it help shows people that they are being manipulated into voting for him.
- David, Saint Louis, MO

Never heard such whiny men. McCain should speak up more and be bolder. His failure to do so, is well, his failure.
- marty, pt. richmond, ca

It's really amazing how these crack smoking Oprah watching Liberals deny that there is no bias in the Media. Every news outlet on television with the exception of FOX is completely in the tank for the new messiah (BHO). The same applies for most large print media: New York Times, Washington Post, L.A. Times, etc. The truth is, the left just has a hard time with the Truth, but then being liberal is never having to admit the Truth...
- Robert, Redondo Beach. California

thats not an OK sign, its him waving with a cell phone in his hands... the author is trying make it sound like he's saying "its OK that there are only a few of you here"...... stupid media
- ben, bellevue, wa

Many people on this blog have commented on the fact that McCain is dull and mundane. You need to get over appearances. McCain is the only candidate that will finish the war the right way, bring our troops home at the right time, and not leave our country completely vulnerable during dangerout times. Obama wants to shut down our nuclear defense system first, have talks with terrorist leaders second, and leave our military high-and-dry. And for those voting for Obama simply because he's a rousing speaker, bear in mind, so was Hitler! THINK BEFORE YOU VOTE!
- Lisa, Auburn, ME

Note to Whining Republicans:

Reality has a liberal bias, it's not the Democrat's fault.
- Ryan Coolman, St. Louis, MO

Roberta-
I left NH exactly because of the ignorant people. Don't think NH is isolated from stupidity. It isn't.
- Mike, Matthews, NC

I'm just a little upset that whenever I question an Obama supporter on the issues, I get accused of being racist, "living in fear" whatever that means, or just generally being un-educated. Can we just stick to the issues please? I don't think that's too much to ask...
- Ted, Durham, NC

Of course the press has a "bizarre" fascination with Obama. What's actually bizarre is how the GOP thought it was going to fire up its base with a stuttering geriatric sellout who refers to his "base" as "agents of intolerance" and "bigots". The GOP can cry victim all they want to, but their predicament is entirely self-inflicted.
- Matt Parrott, Carmel, IN

Watch out Sen. Obama. . .America loves an underdog. McCain could come out of this as the sentimental darling and take the sweeps.
- Bill, Kildeer, Illinois

To Matt, Los Angeles, CA - If you really think the media is to blame for what candidate is chosen, then you really don't give enough credit to the American people. I'm African American and if Dr Rice or Gen Powell ran as a Republican, they would not get my vote. I'm voting based on my ideals, beliefs, and what I think is best for me. I watch the media, but I do my own research and make up my own mind.
- Damon, Austin, TX

The media goes where the news maker or events take them. McCain's night arrival in New Hampshire is a low interest happenings, not news--his town hall event provides news coverage. On the other hand Obama, showing bold leadership, has been to two war zones, meeting with the troops and later international leaders--this is different, this is news. McCain needs to stop whining and acting as a victim and begin to be a news maker--the media owes he and Obama nothing--it is about what they do that draws the media.
- Lou R, Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico

Is this guy serious? Obama is to blame for high oil prices? AND McCain wants to drill more oil in America? The only people who believe this are Republicans who are ignorant enough to believe George Bush's propaganda that the government has been feeding us since their war started. Wake up Republicans, your candidate is a joke and makes no logical sense in terms of what's going on in the current world today...your delusional pre-millenium obsolete world is not pertinent at all and will only sink this country into a worse global standing. The more I read about what comes out of McCain's camp, the more I am convinced this country needs Obama.
- neelie, los angeles, ca

he "...limped as he made his way down the metal stairway..."??? Was he holding his chest and gasping for air too? what was the point of that bit of description? And you think you are reporter??? Maybe thats why you're here and the rest of your kind is out of the country covering what they perceive to be the real story. Give me a break.
- david, raleigh

Eric,

You've got to be kidding! There is a huge difference between talk radio and news. Talk radio is no different from Dr. Phil or Oprah, it's just on the radio instead of TV. The entire show is based on the stated ideas and OPINIONs of the host, and is expected to be biased, if you listen and are disappointed that there isn't equal coverage, you're listening to the wrong shows, try NPR, at least it's more news oriented, and the bias is clearly left. The major news networks are expected to be unbiased, or to at least present news in an objective manner. I'm not sure why there is still this expectation, Edward R. Mauro made sure the media was entrenched to the left and it's never returned. Regardless, the majority of Americans would appreciate news without the personal biases of those presenting the information clouding the pool.

Of course I do believe the FCC, thanks to the Democrats, does have a rule about equal time. Funny, it’s just not been an issue this year when the Dems are slobbering all over each other with the idea that the Messiah has finally come.

But hey Eric, your right, it’s all the Republican’s fault for not wanting to impede the 1st Amendment with something like the “Fairness Doctrine.” Again, when did a little thing the Constitution ever get in the way of a good Dem violating other peoples rights.
- Jim Snyder, Uniondale, NY

Only one reporter... that was one to many.
- Marie, Ewing NJ

I believe its 'one too many'. It is prudent to master language skills before becoming a shill for a political party.
- Jefe De Jefe, Medford, NJ

1 reporter covering mccain 3 major news anchors following obama. in the past the leftest views of main stream media were at least on the op ed pages. now they are essentially DNC operatives. very orwellian
- Chris, Houston Texas

In a way I'm glad this happened. Once and for all liberals can no longer deny the media's perverse leftward bias. The media exposed itself without knowing it - what a laugh. A real inconvenient truth - for all the world to see. No more pretentious denials, no more lies about the rightwing media. It's a good thing. besides McCain doesn't need the media to compensate for a lack of character and substance like his opponent does. His policies and character will get him elected without the media's help - or should I say: in spite of the media.
- Frank, Scranton, PA

He's not giving the OK sign...he's merely holding his cell phone and trying to wave. Are you guys blind?
- Jay, Beverly Hills, CA

It's funny how some liberals are calling conservatives "whiners". The conservatives aren't the ones trying to get the Fairness Doctrine passed. Funny how that doctrine will only apply to conservatives. If It gets passed we will see an equal number of media at Republican events, right?
- robert, Louisville,KY

Obama said during his "press?" conference today that we can't stay in Iraq forever. Well, how come we are still in Germany and a lot of other countries including Japan, S. Korea and others after those wars? What a sham this guy is. The sad thing is, he's got stupid advisors! I have no problem with his color but but his ideas and solutions..............Whoa!!!!! Just another Carter that we cannot afford! The press and many americans treat Obama like he's some sort of messiah. What they should do is consult with THE true Messiah before making up their minds.
- Iris, Va

To Roberta, Colebrook:

Well, I can say you're officially uninvited to the great state of Texas if you feel that way. To you, we must seem like a bunch of God-loving, Gun-toting hicks who come from the same state as W. Yes...I cling to God and Guns, so Obama is right about at least that anyway.

Another Dem claiming to be a Republican perhaps? Nothing new. Conservatives (real) may not like McCain all that much, but are sure as heck not going to vote the Marxist ticket come this fall. Maybe you've drunk the "Change" Kool-Aid. (Change what? To what? Lenin ran on a "change" ticket too in 1917.) Maybe the rest of us will realize it before it's too late.
- MikeS, San Antonio TX

It's great how everyone labels the media liberal. The coverage of this entire process has been an absolute disgrace. The media has been "telling you" who are the most viable candidates the entire time. On the Democratic side the ones with most experience (Biden, Dodd, Richardson) were automatically discounted and shorted by the media. The only legitimate candidate that exactly represents core Republican values is Ron Paul. Instead like puppets you listen to the most slanted media of all time, Fox News and Rush Limbaugh.

Wake up everyone and realize how you're all sheep not thinking for yourself, just believing others opinions. Listen to what the candidates have to say, not what the commentators say.
- Matt, Los Angeles, CA

So does all this whining mean republicans want the fairness doctrine reinstated now?? What a joke. If McCain would show some enthusiasm, maybe there would be some coverage. He's so dull and stiff I can't stand to watch the man.
- Libertarian, Raleigh, NC

Please be advised that the Manchester Union Leader's editors have determined that the following words or phrases may not appear in any future post regarding Senator McCain: neocon, Pub, Repub, McSame, "war monger", flip-flop, "trophy wife" (well, maybe that one's OK, because I'm envious, too). We recognize that this severely limits the capacity of progressives to contribute to the dialogue here. We trust, however, that these limitations will produce heretofor unseen creativity from those who wish to criticize Senator McCain's candidacy. Thank you, and good night.
- Ted Moore, Stow, OH

Welcome to the new Stalinism.

You will see what the media wants you to see. Dissenting opinions or information will be erased for your own good, Komrade.
- Dan, Georgia

Fun little fact.
Go to the Startribune web site (Or just about any large paper for that matter)

Go to the advanced search function. And under headline, search "MCcain"
Count the headlines that mention his name.

Then do the same for "Obama"

As of today, "Obama" is mentioned 58.5% more than "MCcain"
- Mr. Kelly, Minneapolis, MN

We McCain supporters need to be aware of one important thing: The media is openly biased toward Obama for only one reason; that is to discourage Republicans from voting in November. The more they try to convince us that Obama will win, the fewer McCain supporters will show up at the polls. This is the liberal media's most powerful tool.
- Steve G, Chicago

The people complaining that there was too lttle media coverage of McCain landing in NH, versus the media coverage goven to Obama in the Middle East seem to be forgetting one thing... Obama is meeting with world leaders and discussing the course of global events, John McCain landed at an airport. You tell me what is more news worthy.
- Dan Solomon, Brooklyn NY

Can't believe there wasn't a network crew tailing him. That's just bizarre!
- Dennis, Ada MI

Amazing...

Obama thinks there are 58 states, that 10,000 people were killed in a Kansas tornado. He's reversed every single position that got him the primary win, and has proven that he's nothing more than an elitist, racist, political oppurtunist.

A country full of morons about to elect another moron president.

Amazing...
- Capi, panama City Beach, FL

Obama is making the same promises that all Dems make, everything for free and a world of happieness and peace. Typical dream.
I am not a McCain fan, but it is the less evil you vote for this time around, thus McCain has my vote.
- Craig, Bradenton Fl

Take heart America.. .what we are winessing right before our very eyes is the total and complete destruction of the Democratic party. We will all be able to raise a glass on Nov 8th 2008 and toast to a totally free America!
- robert burch, nashville tn.

Academic, Media, and Law. Three pillars fo the Liberal Fascist left.

News coverage of the empty suit, double talking, afraid to debate Marxist - Barrack Hussein Obama has a 4 to 1 edge on television coverage also.

Independent freedom loving, tax hating Americans better get the word out independently because the fix is in for the "Pied Piper" - Obama.
- Rodney Landreneau, Pittsburgh Pa

Obama is the ultimate MSM candidate. He's tall, thin, well spoken, and wears the victimhood mantle. His politics are big city liberal. It's no wonder that his core supporters (MSM, union, lawyers, hollywood) are in a tizzy. He glibly lies and changes friends and his core beliefs for political gain. His accomplishments are miniscule. He has never held an executive office. He has never led an organization in any capacity. He was educated as a lawyer courtesy of his well connected grandparents. He's worked as an activist (one step below politicians). Then there was the stint as the voice of the Chicago machine in both the state assembly and as US Senator. He is the poster boy for the prejudice of low expectations. He's the Ted Baxter of politics. He is content-free, the perfect candidate for the party of Santa Claus.
- Jason Stewart, Bozeman, MT

I agree with the good Dr. Cary in New Mexico. People are going to be very, very tired of the preening Senator Obama and his fawning admirers in the press by election time.
- Canute, Blue Earth, MN

Why are conservatives such whiners? It's always "media bias" this and "biased polls" that. It's always someone else's fault with these guys. The party of personal responsibility is always passing the buck.

John McCain has benefited all his life from positive media coverage. He is still getting a large amount of media coverage. It just so happens that this week Obama is getting more coverage because of the historic nature of his trip. Suck it up.

And, you have to love President Bush agreeing to have his administration "sit in" on "conversations" with Iran to "discuss" their nuclear ambitions. But, this is not negotiating! Suuure. And "time horizons" for troop withdrawal in Iraq are not "time tables". Get a grip.

Thanks for Iraq, GOP. We owe ya!
- Jon, Tampa/Florida

The media did the same for Bill Clinton. Ninety percent admitted to voting for Clinton in widely published survey after Clinton's the first term election.

It really harms the knowledge base of our voters when the media plays the part of a proagandist rather than the role of a giver of basic, unspun facts and editorials are based on multiple views.

The media are driving themselves out of business with this shoddy and unprofessional behavior. Then again, Socialists are not too hot on the concepts of business. Nor are socialists respectful of the ethics involved in journalism in a Democratic society.

Since I am not a socialist, I am not for the media party's candidate!
- Sara Johnson, Galveston, TX

Did anyone else notice that he isn't flashing the "OK" symbol? He's waving....and holding sometrhing between his thumb and index finger....Not too important, but still...
- Jared, Portland, Maine

Only one reporter... that was one to many.
- Marie, Ewing NJ

BO announced a planned speech in Kansas City and our media gave us a virtual countdown of when he'd be here, where to go, where the free tickets were, telling use they were sold out, and he couldn't fill his auditorium.

McCain planned a speech in KC as well a week later, and we didn't know about it until the morning of the speech. The local media were telling us the location was full (it wasn't) and that all tickets were sold (they weren't - it was open to the public) and the traffic to get there was blocked (it wasn't.) McCain filled his auditorium to capacity and needed to get extra seats for more people. This was barely reported.

The media is telling the people what they say they want, huh?

p.s. I'm not a McCain supporter, but I hate hypocrisy.
- Jim, Missouri

Obama is committing the sin of over-exposure. He risks turning off even those that thinks he's the "One". When people realize how absurd this notion is, they'll wake up (I hope). This is real life and having a presidential candidate playing off the theme of the movie The Matrix is embarrassing. I've never been impressed with his speeches, he's terrible without prepared text, his inevitablity isn't not so inevitable in my view. It's sad we republicans have such a poor nominee. I don't think Obama realizes he's just a figure head of this movement. He's being proped up, and if he strays, they'll tear him down. He'll always be on a very short leash. If he's president, it'll be a tough four years.
- kirk, plano, tx

Eric from NY wrote
"Who cares?

The Republicans fought tooth and nail against fairness and equal coverage in politics. Now they're whining when they get their way?

They made their bed, let them lie on it. They created this atmosphere. If McCain gets a camera, let it be a conservative camera. Rush and Hannity argued for this, let them reap what they sow."

Not sure what you mean by these statements. Rush has made his stake at exposing the slanted one sided media from the first days of his Radio shows...and has exposed the hypocrisy of the liberal philosophies for over 20 years. So to say that they created this atmosphere you have to be extremely misinformed or drinking some powerful koolaid.
I am certainly not whining but I do think the obvious bias of these media elites are very entertaining and very interesting.
- Walter Steele, Clay City IL

Get over it, our country has had enough of these war mongering, war profiteering misfits who hi-jacked our country. McSame is just yesterdays news all over again, we want our country back from these un-American neocons. They should be banned from ever serving this country again.
- Leonard Riddick, Summerville, SC

Just a note to all of the people complaining about the out of state McCain whiners...my state gets 25 electoral votes and decides elections, yours does not. The will of all the people is at stake and this is not a local issue. Widen your horizons, would ya?
- Paul, Columbus, Ohio11

The reason the press is so interested in what Obama has to say is because he takes a new position every time he opens his mouth.
- Eric Peele, Cary, NC

I can't believe all of the whiners who have posted their message on this story. It is obvious that McCain is getting the national attention that so moany people have been complaining about, just look at all of the out of state blogs. When are the republicans going to get a clue? Typical, when things don't go their way, they cry and cry and cry. Please spare me. You people from out of state should stay there and leave us alone in this great state of NH. I have been a lifelong Republican, but will probably vote for Obama because of all of the whining going on in my own party. I have run for office for the past 22 years. I have never been succesful, but I never blamed it on anyone else but the voters.

NC,NM,LA,AL,CA,WA,OK,NY,FL,CT,SC,MD,,GA,CT,GA,IL,WI,TX,IN,ME,OH,AZ,MO,TN,PA,RI,MI,KS,MT,MA and OR are all states that I will not be visiting because they are obviously full of ignorant people!!!
- roberta, colebrook

President Barrack Obama? Now that sounds real American! Sounds erie, speaking about Eary (Obama, it will be a true american in the White House, John McCain. Age makes the wine better, with age is wisdom.
- Larry, Virginia Beach, Virginia

McCain is running the Doubletalk Express. He has more flip-flops than John Kerry.
I'm a Republican, and I'm pushing 60 years old. I only ever voted for a Democrat once before. But I admit that 8 years of George W. Bush has been a tragic mistake for this country. McCain has no policies that benefit everyday working people. He just offers 4 more years of failed Bush policies.
So I will not vote for Senator McCain. I could never have voted for Hillary Clinton because she is and always has been a fundamentally dishonest individual. But I can and will enthusiastically vote for Senator Barack Obama.
I think, I hope, and yes I even pray that Senator Obama will win in a landslide.
- vegasbob, Pensacola, FL

The election is over. The mediahas decided it and there is no revocation. Media has threatened this before and there has been near misses before, but media is about to make the largest mistake of its existance.
- John Smith, Valencia, California

"On one hand you have a man who is uncomfortable in front of the camera, and who's speaking style is more like a drone, regardless of whether or not there is substance to his words, the media will not be drawn to him.

On the other hand you have a young, dynamic speaker, who loves large rallies, has a soaring oratory style, and knows how to work a room full of reporters.

As a reporter, who do you cover? It's easy, you cover the dynamic, interesting speaker. It just makes for better TV."

For a moment there I thought you were comparing Winston Churchill to Adolf Hitler!
- Chris, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts

I agree that neither candidate is anyone I would vote for. The large corporations paid to have either of these candidates to run. Anyone who is interested in the border fence, tax paid medical care for citizens similar to CAnada or France plus becoming energy independent was quickly shut out of the race, !!! Why couldn't Ron Paul and the other candidate from SAn Diego really be heard? That is what this country needs.
- Carol Jones, St. Louis, MO

After the N.Y. Times snub of McCain's report and now this, I will support John McCain. The Times and the news media should be ashamed for acting like Communist Cuba's news organization. Keep it up and more and more will decide to vote for John McCain by Nov..
- Fred, Hudson,Fl.

So the media is in the tank for Obama. This is nothing new, or surprising. Same thing with Kerry and before that Gore and then the Clintons.

And they only ditched the Clintons when the appearance of the new Messiah permitted reporters and talking heads the luxruy of a half-awakened conscience.
- james, milwaukee, WI

I find it hilarious that Obama is getting all this news coverage, yet McCain is running neck and neck with him. It would seem the more the media drools over Obama the more people see what is going on here. Bubba from Rochester calls McCain a loser. If he is running even with your darling Obama with as little coverage as he is getting, just imagine where he would be if he got equal treatment. So who is really the loser here Bubba? Obama, who seems to need to be propped up by the media in order to stay even or McCain who is staying even and is all but ignored by the media?
- Bob, Redondo Beach, CA

A man who does not have the skills to get a job in this modern economy (see: internet ability, e-mail) wants to be in charge of it. As for all you right wingers, quit whining. Why should we vote for your candidate? Your party has so royally (pun intended) screwed up the last eight years, no candidate should even be considered. Now say it with me. PRESIDENT OBAMA.
- Ryan Conway, Chicago, IL

I applaud the Union Leader. At least they are honest. They don't hide their left wing agenda and then lie by saying that they are only being "objective". I'll be using this newspaper for lining on my birdcage to catch the bird poop. You go Union Leader!
- Thomas, San Francisco, CA

"Obama and McCain are both worthless, different rhetoric same globalist agenda. The country needs Ron Paul!"

Yes, but you have these two gentleman, so stop whining and work with what you have. Or is it your intention to simply sit this election day out if you can't have it the you want it?
- Joe, Washington, DC

That's liberal democrats for you - they'd rather get hoodwinked by a sweeping emotional message of nebulous change, than intelligently examine facts, data, and American history. All of the lemming Germans in the 1930's were acting the same way toward Hitler in his lead up to power, before he became the dictator he was. They were captivated like sheep, swept up in the tide of non-thinking. America has stooped to an all time low with the way it's acting over Obama.
- Union Bubba, Union, MO

Media Bias!?!?, You've got to be KIDDING!
John McCain has HADbeen the MEDIA Darling limelight since 2000 when he was dropped-kicked out of the discussion by George Dubya II. He was limited then, he is limited NOW and he was chosen by the Republicans NOW because they just KNEW Hillary would be the Democratic Nominee. They ALL must be kicking themselves by NOT getting behind the "fresh faced more informed about the world" Romney. At least he has a real "governing record" as GOV. of Massachusetts. McCain is in over his head PERIOD. He knows nothing about economics, foreign policy history, or even geography!. This is what you Neocon warmongers want as leader of the free world!?!?!
- Buster, Danbury, CT

It appears that Sen. Obama is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.
Sen. McCain lambasts Obama because he hadn't been to Iraq-and now he lambasts him because he goes to Iraq!

It is the media that is following Obama-it is their choice to do this.

Not too long ago it was Sen. McCain who was the media 'darling'.

Now it seems the media are only responding to what the 'people' want.
Hundreds of thousands turning out to see and hear Sen. Obama speak, perhaps a few hundred will turn out for Sen. McCain. So why wouldn't the media favor Obama then?

And for those who are proposing that 'liberals are sheep', I say "pot to kettle".
What about the conservative righties? They consistently vote according to what their Christian leaders tell them to do-even when it is a vote against their own well being , focusing ONLY on two issues that affect them NOT at all- gay marraige and abortion. They are being led by their noses-led by fear!
- S. Dillon, Portland, Or

All of this media love for Obama could backfire . McCain is no slouch, if he can recapture the magic of McCain 2000 he will wax the floor with that little argula chomping elitist. McCain is just about the only Republican I have voted for, and I will vote for him again.
- Fred Hammock, Portsmouth, NH

Why would you expect there to be a large media coverage of McCain? Who likes to look at yesterday? And, report his practices and philosophies which are of yesterday's generations?

The media reports what is interesting.. Old Man McCain is the epitome of the mundane.
- Max R, Houston, TX

Obama and McCain are both worthless, different rhetoric same globalist agenda. The country needs Ron Paul!
- joe, Austin, TX

John McCain isn't getting any news coverage because John McCain isn't newsworthy. Simple as that! So get used to it folks, as of January 20, 2008 it's President Obama. You can take that to the bank, unless of course under your boy Bush's administration your bank is still open. An example of McCain's desperation is his new ad "thanking" Obama for high gas prices. Keep digging JohnBoy and the hole you dig will be the grave you acn limp into. And by the way, JohnBoy, why are you still taking almost $60,000 a year in federal disability payments TAX-FREE when your rich trophy wife made $6million last year.

Oh, and to those of you who are going to respond to me as a liberal democratic left-wing nut, don't go there. I'm not voting for either one of them.
- Edward, Lexington, KY

What's all the fuss about? Don't tell me that someone forgot to tell the Union Leader that post-turtle Obama has already been ordained by Katie Couric, Brian Williams and Charlie Gibson? As Superior Court Judge Robert A. Schnider can tell y'all - resistance is futile..
- Mike M, Everett, Mass

That more of the media did not show up for McCain should come as no surprise. They are all packed elbow to elbow in the Obama cheering section.

The New York Times even refused to print McCain's editorial response to Obama's outrageous editorial statements on Iraq and Afghanistan. Like an arrogant liberal college professor speaking to a freshman student, the editor at the NYT tells McCain to "re-write the article and re-submit it"

But, I guess they are just living up to their motto, "all the news that's fit to print". If it doesn't agree with their position (bent over for Obama), it's obviously not fit to print.
- Bob Garlington, Humble, Texas

All you right wingers quit complaining. You are all jealous because John McCain doesn't have a message other than repeating the Bush doctrine which has led to the world hating us, global warming, the housing crisis, and this energy crisis. Once Obama is elected, puts his justices in place and has a Democratically controlled congress there will be no stopping us putting this country on the right course forever. We'll get rid of the right wing media bias by reenacting the Fairness Doctrine and making our country safer by passing gun laws that will keep so many guns from being circulated for starters.
We need more people who think like Obama does to fill our cabinets, committees and government agencies to enforce his philosophy.
Get an education!
- David Martinez, San Franciso, CA

Only one or two newsgroupies for McCain? Not like the fauning mainstream newsgroupies like O'bama has? Now that's what I call Fair and Balanced!
- The Mikester, Farmers Branch, TX

An absolute disgrace. When three so-called "distingushed" news anchors (from NBC, CBS and ABC) accompany the democratic candidate for his 1st trip overseas, yet continue to neglect to cover the Republican candidate, it is quite obvious the aforementioned media outlets are liberally biased and are part of the George Soros liberal conspiracy to have the main stream media help elect a democrat, no matter what the cost...no matter what the inexperience, and no matter what radical islamic fundamental beliefs he comes from, all whilst continuing to play the race card.
Barack Hussein Obama is an empty suit who will bring nothing but reverse discrimination to our country and we should vote accordingly. McCain isn't my #1 choice, but he's a hell of alot better and more experienced, than the guy who gives good speaches, promises alot and speaks so well.
I wish folks like Glenn Beck or Mike Huckabee were our choices!!!
- Jack, Thassee

Flying low and undetected. If this is your move before the convention (half time), I am ok with that. However, in second half, please show more of your agressive attacks.
- Henderson, Bethesda, MD

Nobody is interested in what McCain has to say.
We've heard it all for the past 7+ years.
- Patricia, Long Island, NY

The media needs to quit lying about not being biased towards liberals. I am so ashamed of the way the media in this country treats "freedom of the press" as a joke. STOP LYING ABOUT REALITY!
- Robert, Amarillo,Tx

The reason why the media doesn't cover John McCain is because the media, like the rest of America really doesn't like him all that much. Obama is going to mop the floor with him on election night. Look for a blowout. John McCain has about the same shot of becoming president as I do.
- Harry Winestein, Oakmont New Hampshre

Just remember McCain was all but counted out! Dead in the water, in the primes.
And then out of no where he came back. Obama has spent around 300 million so far and with all the positive press, the best he has to show for it is a tie with McCain.
Stay tuned!
- Puck30, Allentown pa

Rita - "following Obama around on his "fact finding"trip"

Indeed. The rest of us - those who have cared to pay attention, including McCain, already knew most of the facts on the ground. Apparently, in addition to Obama, the media has been in the dark as well. Almost every stance that Obama is taking here, is simply rephrased Bush policy - put in nicer sounding wraping. Obam's offering nothing new.
- ghall, Los Angeles, CA

Enough with the whining from McCain and his supporters. The guy has nothing to say that any one is interested in. He is pandering after being a maverick and it is sad to watch. Bow out in a graceful manner.
- Jim, Mesa AZ

Hey it looks like someone posted a link on a McCain fansite. How else can you explain the influx of whiny comments from out side the great state of NH. .
- Tim, Northwood

Choices choices choices. Gerald Ford vs. Jimmy Carter Reloaded. Socialism lite vs Socialism 5.0. This is what our nation has come to. We do not deserve the freedoms which we have given that we are so willing to give them away for Government Hand Outs. Bowl of Beans for our Birth Right.

The problem is not the Media. They are leftist socialist. All but Fox. The problem is the voters. You have 35 % who are Republican. 28-30% who are democrats. The rest, "the Undecideds" have no soul. Road Kill. That is what the "undecideds" are. They are Road Kill. Always following the wind. Where ever it blows, that is where they go. The Undecided's will embrace Socialism this year and their Children will be the one's who pay for it.

Our nation is no longer a viable Republic. We are a Populace Democracy which is transitioning into a Repressive Dictatorship in which the 51% shall Lord themselves over the 49% until there isn't a productive soul left in this nation.

We are getting what we deserve.
- M E Brooks, Atlanta, GA

Just remember, it is not just John McCain that is ignored. Bob Barr is also a valid candidate for president. The media reports as if there are only 2 parties and only one matters.
- Digital Texan, Austin,TX

Obama certainly gets MORE coverage, but not all of it positive. How many Reverend Wright clips did we have to sit through, versus Hagee clips? How much Rezko, versus Keating Five?

As for experience, McCain is terribly weak on the economy. He even had Phil Gramm as an adviser, one of the architects of our current mortgage meltdown.

At least Obama has an excellent track record outside politics. McSame is just a proven failure.
- Alan S., White Plains, NY

Its pretty pathetic when we have a candidate overseas assuming the role of the president and underminding the decision(s) over the years, made by our administration. He is a presidenial candidate for crying out loud. This is a junior senator who passed up voting on bills presented to the sentate for a nay or yea vote. He has never headed a corporation, owned a company, and just recently purchased a home under market. What is that all about???? Obama is a caricatuare manufactured by his party and the media. What has happened to our country when the media ignores one candidate over another? This will eventually hurt the democratic party, citizens will wake up.
- Mary Lou Porter, Tucson, AZ

What the heck is going on. I thought this was a NH newspaper. Where did all the out of state comments come from that were not here 15 minutes ago. Something is fishy.

(EDITOR'S NOTE: The Drudge Report has linked to the UnionLeader.com story, which brings a worldwide audience.)
- Tim, Manchester, NH

Obama needs babysitters so that is why he called the media to go with him. Obama will soon get reported that he has walked on water, or found the fountain of youth. We all know Obama is bigger than god (according to the media), and Obama is all fresh new ideas (Clinton ideas).
- Linda, Schaumburg, IL

Holy cow! Is there no end to their arrogance and biases?
The public is finally catching on, thats why they are having monumental financial losses.
- g twigg, millersville md

I thought Obama was already elected? Who is this guy McCain?
- Bill, Livermore, CA

McCain is a poor candidate for the Republican Party. Wait until he has a "senior moment" during one of the town halls or the debate. Or in fear of that, he comes across as a robot. Oh, this is going to be sad and embarrassing.
- Marci, Los Angeles, CA

I saw a great quote on this yesterday:

One one hand you have a man who is uncomfortable in front of the camera, and who's speaking style is more like a drone, regardless of whether or not there is substance to his words, the media will not be drawn to him.

On the other hand you have a young, dynamic speaker, who loves large rallies, has a soaring oratory style, and knows how to work a room full of reporters.

As a reporter, who do you cover? It's easy, you cover the dynamic, interesting speaker. It just makes for better TV.

McCain often has substance to his statements, which Obama only occasionally does. But, you can't film substance. You can't quote intentions or sincerity. The media can only report on what it sees, and it gravitates toward spectacle.

Ron Paul 08!
- Kevin, Mansfield, MA

One of these days we'll recognize that we're selecting the leader of the free world ... not prom king.
- Dave Huhn, Sacramento, CA

Obama is what we used to refer as "a Johnny come lately" or he is "jumping on the bandwagon" after the the band's successful concert. We don't need an opportunist for a President. We need a man of conviction . . . John McCain.
- Shirley West, Gold Canyon, AZ

Obama: The "American Idol" presidential candidate.
- Dean, Athens, GA

Anyone notice that this is the only artcle about McCain on the Drudge Report right now? I counted 5 articles with Obama's name in the title. Does that make the Drudge Report part of the lefty biased media campaigning for Obama, or does it prove even the right wingers don't find John McCain all that newsworthy?
- joe, st. louis

The FCC should investigate all 3 networks for unfair business practices then revoke their licenses to broadcast. Remember, the airwaves are PUBLIC, as we are so often reminded by those espousing the "Fairness Doctrine". If the public is being purposefully influenced or misled by these networks, they deserve to pay a heavy price. After all, isn't that what an activist government is all about? In the meantime, we can always boycott the sponsors of these newscasts. that's what i am doing.
- matt, New Orleans, LA

The media bias is palpable. That being said, the general populace is thirsting for a change, nothing specific, just a change. Enter stage left...the Messiah, the concept and the idea...B.H. Obama. Does the general populace know this young charismatic candidate? No. Do they really care to know? Sadly, it really isn't important to them. this general populace cultural attention span is so short and distracted. There is little hope that this will change. Change comes with a need. That need seems to be fueled by varying doses of narcissism. Obama will stop the war, Obama will give us health care for free, Obama will save us from the bad mortgages, Obama will make the big bad corporations and the rich people pay for everything. What every happened to "don't ask what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country"? Promise the people I'll give you this and that and you'll get the takers vote.
When you rob Peter to pay Paul, you are always assured of Pauls' vote. We are in a sad state of affairs, but we will weather it one way or the other. We are America.

For anyone who knows anything about Journalism, it is the news media;s job to cover both sides of anissue of election, not McCain's or Obama's job to convince/get them to cover theirs. Obama may be doing a better job of wooing the media, but that still doesnt remove the blame from the media's side of just being ridiculously pro-Obama, and not so much anti-mccain as more indifferent and ignoring towards him
- Mike, Kansas

The media is disgusting! Talk about hipocracy! For such a liberal establishment that is supposedly so "tolerant and inclusive," it just goes to show you how they're all just full of crap!
Liberals (ummm, democommunists) are just made up of hateful intellectual wannabes who are too stupid to realize they're just a bunch of sheeples. They're following a loser who just wants to be president despite the fact that he's not even near qualified for the job! Never mind he'll run this country straight into the pit! But liberals are too intellectual and refined to know better.. Whatever!
- Ray, Colorado Springs

The "swarm" of media surrounding Obama and following his every move has been traveling with him. His campaign now takes part of "the swarm" with them to guarrantee maximum coverage. We have entered the phase of the general election where the media has cast objectivity out the window and are now unapologetically biased. The loss of a free and unbiased press will lead to the demise of the democracy.
- Jack, Des Moines, IA

I always vote for whoever the media *doesn't* want me to vote for. They believe they can control you by slanting news coverage. Show them they are wrong.
- John, Northampton, PA

The media is so biased its amazing, no biggie Obama will have plenty of time to think of the many reasons he lost after the election. Like the media of old, they are trying to pick and get elected their candidate. Lib Dems are the party that ruined this country, granted the GOP held all three arms of the Government but the Dems filabusted bills so they couldn't be passed. Granted the GOP needs to grow a pair and in a hurry and put these Lib Dems like Mr. Palosi and Mrs. Ried back in their place, cleaning the restrooms of the Capitol Bldg.
- Kevin B, Selah, WA

Few governors come from the State Department but a lot of presidents get to the White House by being governors first. I don’t think George W. went on many diplomatic assignments during his years in Texas government. As a young person who has not been in the work force for very long but does have a post-graduate level education I understand the difficulty in striking a balance between experience and potential for improvement. The past is over and the future lies ahead; but one must understand history to succeed in the future. However, I also think any candidate who admits to not being able to email or access web pages and also considers being captured by the enemy in the previous century to be the most important qualification for being commander in chief the current century should be viewed with a bit more scrutiny by those who want to overcome new problems they have never faced before. Also, inexpensive gasoline in the near-term and a policy to reduce dependency on fossil fuels are mutually exclusive.
- Josh T, Houston, TX

funny they don't mention that he made well over $1,000,000 from 2 fund raisers here in buffalo last night, kinda sounds like he was off in limbo before he arrived in new hampshire
- dave, buffalo, ny

There's less interest in McCain for obvious reasons. He's stale, elderly, and forgetful. He's even collecting Social Security checks!
- Sereena X, Detroit, MI

The liberal newspapers are going under, their radio shows are defunct. Even ABC, NBC and CBS can't compete with cable news and they wonder why?Americans are not whiners we are actually much wiser than you think and do not play to their tabloid news. Go on and prop up Obama just like you did in the last two presidential elections and then actually even CALLED THE WRONG WINNER! Any American who uses the media on how to vote shouldnt be allowed too. It's nothing short of tabloid journalism. Do your own research people!
- Deborah, Houston Tx

McCain is sleep walking through this early part of the pre-campaign, and he STILL pulls even in the polls with the stuffed suit. IMHO: Obama has peaked much too early, ala what was her name? Hillary? The country as a whole sees through the fraud that is Barry Obama, they can't stand the biased media coronation or the Hollywood adoration. IF, and it's a big if, the conservatives do turn out for McCain, November will be a replay of the sure win of the last liberal elitist, John Kerry.
- David H, Marietta, GA

Liberals across the country want us to go back to a time when our CIA was decimated, our troops unarmed and our reliance on the world feeling good about everyone so they wouldn't attack us.
- The world was never that nice. The best bumper sticker I've seen in a long time is "we GAVE peace a chance"
Whats all this hoopla about a black president? Obama is just as nuch a white guys as he is a black guy.. right?
- Dennis, Austin TX

This is just another example of how ridiculous and biased the mainstream press has become.

Here we are trying to determine who should be president, and one man is treated like a rock star, and the other like a goat.

If the secular journalist clergy had an ounce of decency, they'd fire themselves.
- David Ziegler, Dallas, Texas

I read a poster who thinks that the MSM coverage 'balances out' talk radio. For sheer jaw dropping ridiculousness, I don't think I have ever read anything of that scope.

Talk radio is partisan. All the hosts make no bones about it, rather it be Rush or Al Franken. To compare talk radio to the 'unbiased' MSM is showing an ignorance that I am sad to say many of my fellow Americans exhibit.

I am not a Big Mac fan, but this man has earned the respect of every American and freedom lover anywhere. Obama has earned the respect that any old-time Chicago pol has-not any.
- ron wilson, sarasota, FL

Just waiting for Obama to deliver the goods. It is sad but he does not matct MaCain in leadership. All Hot Air but no ballon to blow up.. . A Yellow Dog Democrat of FDR Days
- ed havran, colleyville,tx

Barack Obama has suddenly decided Afghanistan might be a problem - when since early 2007, when he was appointed Chairman of the US Senate's Subcommittee on Foreign Relations and European Affairs - interaction with NATO and their exposure in the Middle East - HE DID NOT CALL ONE MEETING of the committee - under his leadership the committee languished. Good job!!
In Iraq - Maliki is preparing for his October election and wants to present independence from the US - when in reality without the surge Maliki might be dead by now - and if violence did increase at all - he would be jumping into Bush's and McCain's arms. The big issue is - there might just be a democracy forming in the center of the Middle East hot bed - this is good news for the entire world. It is not a bad thing that the majority of terrorists are now hold up in some mountain between Afghanistan and Pakistan - better than being on their way to an airport in the USA.
Obama says things are better in Iraq but he still feels he was right to reject the surge - how can anyone figure out what this puppet of the far left really means when he speaks. Give him another 20 years free of all his "interesting" associates and we can take another look at him - although once a Socialist - always a Socialist - the Europeans are going to love him.
Anyone interested look up:
Obama, Rezko and the Iraqi Power Plant

"Grim Proving Ground for Obama's Housing Policy"
Obama - a very scary politician!
- Rosemary Altiere, North Kingstown, Rhode Island

One would think with all these powerful special interest groups (like labor unions and the media) pulling for Obama

and with all the millions spent on his campaign

and with the largest paid campaign staff in history

and with all the vote-buying promises he's made,

the Obamassiah would be much farther ahead in the polls.
- Spanky, Chicago, IL

The media coverage has went from heavily lopsided to Orwellian group think.

I have no excuse as a life time heavily left leaning Democrat. I do not enjoy having to concede the point to my two sons who are both Republicans and which I talk honest politics with quite often.

I just want an honest campaign, not this circus of no substance which is unfortunately what my candidate has surrounded himself with. Can we please talk real issues and not empty platitudes that are not based in reality?

My first huge issue with my candidate is on energy. We have to build nuclear plants and harvest domestic oil.

Obama please step up and be real. This is wearing thin on me and likely the rest of America.
- Gary Hampton, New York, NY

Hillarious, some dope on here believed the report (now retracted by Reuters and the AP) that the Iraqis accepted Obama's plan. Earth to clueless, no they didn't the German press distorted the Prime Minister's quote. Bush and Maliki entered into their own agreement, and it's not Obama's "plan" (which, by the way, is not feasible according the military). No timetables, and it's conditions-based. Obama was wrong and the media's best efforts to spin are hysterical, but ad jack, in merrimack, NH demonstrates, there's lots of useful idiots out there.

Oh, and as for the economy. Overwhelmingly economists agree with McCain's approach. Anyone considering Obama's "credentials" on the economy should check out the housing projects plan he brought to Chicago. Obama isn't qualified to be the chair of the committees he's a figure-head on (since he does nothing), let alone president of the US.
- Jason Smarcolm, NYC, NY

The disparity is too much. The Obama-mania in the media would be silly if it weren't for the fact it will influence a percentage of the electorate. But then, that's the liberal media's intention.

Do you really think Obama would even be in position to be president with his mediocre (to be generous) record of accomplishments or his so call 'good judgement' (i.e., long time associations with Rev. Wright, Ayers, Rezko, etc.), if he were a white politician? No, such a well spoken but untested and inexperienced candidate would never (and should never) have survived the initial primaries.

In the general election, we the voters deserve to hear the positions of both candidates. But the conspriarcy of the media (like the NYT's rejecting McCain's ob-ed response to Obama's for an arbitrary reason, or the 3 network anchors all following Obama on his trip) is presenting, nay shoving, only Obama down our throats. I only hope there's enough voters with operating 'crap' detectors who will see through the media bias.
- PhilG, Philadelphia, PA

Reporters aren't covering McCain because of bias...they are not covering him because people don't care. His numbers are weak, attendance at his events is light, and his poll numbers are low.

You guys sound pathetic blaming the press for the lack of interest in your obsolete party or its candidate.
- Michael, Wisconsin

When the media gets blamed by a campaign and its supporters for the lack of success of a candidate, you know that person is in huge trouble. I refer you to Hillary Clinton. The bottom line is that Republicans controlled all three branches of the Federal Government for many years and drove our great country into a ditch.
- Jeff Grossman, Cupertino, CA

So what, he is a real person, who cares if the press is not there, big deal...BO, is making a fool of himself with the stupid things that are coming out of his mouth. He cannot make one intelligent response. He says that, Iraq, is more stable now with the ethnic cleansing or some sort of stupid answer. He talks in cliches, and mindless answers, Obama, cannot talk without rehersing every little statement. He talks about a crystal ball," say what, what does that mean. And that hinesight is worth 10% what the heck does that mean?????Hello people this is the commander in Chief, in the making, he really need Hillary to piggyback on, she had all the answers which Obama copied during the debates, too bad Hillary, that you didn't win.
- Cecilia Morales, Buckeye AZ.

Let us hope, for the sake of the "big three" anchors, that Obama doesn't come to a sudden stop, if you know what I mean. Polls are showing that Americans are quite aware of the media bias towards The Big O. Some of this coverage they are lavishing upon him ought to be considered by the FEC as campaign contributions.
- Randy C, Phoenix, Arizona

Whether left or right, perhaps people with brains do not want more of McSame.......invading countries, ignoring the Constitution, spending outrageous amounts of money on a war that began on lies, our sons and daughters dying for a Bush lie......on and on...
- judy grace, bath,maine

McCain has a pretty sad organization that would allow something like this happen. It looks like the guy has surrounded himself with old worn-out party hacks.
- Ben, Norristown PA

As a registered independent, I have been struggling to get enthused about either candidate. However, it honestly scares me that Obama has very little expereince and question wheter he or his advisors would be running the country. At least with John McCain you are electing the person that will actually lead. When you stop to think about it, Obama is all fluff and just because he's the first "black" man to be nominated people seem to be giving him a pass on hard issues. I can't wait to see these guys go toe to toe in the debates!
- Lucy, Keene, NH

You know the ironic thing here is if the roles were reversed and McCain was getting all of the coverage and Obama was being ignored you know what they would call it? Anyone? Racism. That's what so funny about this whole thing Obama spends all of his time (at least the time he isn't vaguely stating change or hope) talking about his race, or half of it, and how it's a hinderance when truth is it's the only reason the liberal media elite is tossing it's wad over him. A white candidate with his inexperience, poor voting record, shady associates, and refusal or inability to answer questions would be laughed at and largely ignored.
- JB, Nashville TN

It is amazing how McCain gets mad becuase Obama out smarted them on his overseas trip. When McCain went he didnt invte the major news anchors but Obama does. Then like every sore loser McCain cry foul.

Like most Texans I am a republican but McCain who once said the media is his base cant be mad at Obama for playing the game better.

That my I supported Huckabee at least he held to soild Christian conservative values.
- MAX, Texas

This complete love affair is going to be a huge negative for Obama. He is going to be completely unprepared for the debates... He still really doesn't know what it's like to have his issue positions (if he has any) really challenged.
- Chris C, St Louis MO

He who controls the media, controls the masses. Think for yourself.
- Kevin, Simi Valley,CA

McCain should file a suit with the FCC and the election board under the equal time provisions. Obama opted out of public campaign funds and has millions, and the media gives him free coverage. Wait til he gets to Europe. Let's see how he explains it as "fact finding".
- Tony, Parkville, MO

The Masses are generally ignorant and illinformed. The pided piper Obama will lead them to there demise. We survived the same thing with Jimmy Carter. We will survive the People magazine, Brad and Angie, mentallity of average joe that buy into the flash in the pan Barrack Hussain Obama and will vote him into office. Careful what you wish for.
- Kelly, Grapevine, TX

This has been the worst I have ever seen it, the way the news organization presenting this campaign you can say almost that they are buying it for Obama. Welcome to the new world, where the media decide who should run for president not the American people....
- Dan, Mesa, AZ

And the media still believes that it is not *biased*??

Time and over again, the media pundits are vociferously involved in defending themselves and their peers in their so-called objectiveness and neutrality. And they expect the American people to buy their balderdash.

This election has proved, thanks to Chris Matthews tingling knees and similar reactions from the nation's media personnel, that they are a bunch of liberal weenies. At least, be honest about it. Why be such hypocrites?!!
- Josh, Atlanta, GA

Now people are complaining about media bias,,, Where were all you folks when Ron Paul got shorted by the media?
- Marty, Cleveland Ohio

"The Vietnam War veteran limped as he made his way down the metal stairway"

So he had one reporter waiting and he limped off the plane. At least the one reporter did not disappoint in painting the imagery of a defeated warrior.

As a conservative, I am not a McCain backer, but will say don't count him out. He has a way of being the last man standing.
- Doug, Jupiter, Fl

Talk about media bias all you hear on talk radio is conservatives bashing Obama. This is just evening out the media field with his trip overseas. It is fair and balanced.
- Steven Keaten, China, Maine

What a bunch of whiners and losers...
Look, it was McCain who provoked Obama: "I didn't travel to Iraq like I did".
Well, Obama went to Iraq and now...what?! McCain is complaining that ALL the media got its attention turned into Obama? Who's to blame for that? Why did McCain an exclusive broadcasting deal with the CBS?...Is it Obama's fault that McCain is runing an amateur campaign?
- Mark Henry, Indianapolis, Indiana

Why should reporters bother to show up when the candidate departs the plane and goes right into a Chevy Suburban to be wisked away? He could have at least spoken to the one reporter who took the time to be there.
- Michelle Cook, Tampa, FL

Blaming Obama for high gas prices? That is one SERIOUSLY dishonest campaign ad. I just saw it now. The truth is much more complex. India and China have huge populations and a fast growing middle class that wants to consume oil at American levels. McCain's own camp has acknowledged that offshore drilling would barely make a dent in our fuel prices and would take years to make that dent. It's called reality.
- Paul D., Derry

Bubba,

That is just wrong, and would never happen. The media bias towards Obama is absurd, but I hope that the majority of the american public who votes will actually understand how bad he will for our country. I liken it to Citibank right now. Citibank, the largest bank in the US, is going through a very tough time, just like the US is. What do you think would happen if you took a 3rd year Associate from Citibank and made him CEO? Would you trust this person to "change" all of their procedures and policies? And say the biggest problem with Citibank was their Investment Banking division, and the Associate had literally never worked in that department. Right now our biggest issue is foreign policy and the war which we are currently involved in. Obama has absolutely no foreign policy experience, and that is what we need right now more than anything. He has spent the majority of his career in the state senate. I am still amazed that he is as strong of a candidate as he is right now, it truly baffles me.
- Willie Stewart, Dallas, TX

Who cares?

The Republicans fought tooth and nail against fairness and equal coverage in politics. Now they're whining when they get their way?

They made their bed, let them lie on it. They created this atmosphere. If McCain gets a camera, let it be a conservative camera. Rush and Hannity argued for this, let them reap what they sow.
- Eric, New York, NY

I think the media, the Hollywood effete liberal elitist snobs have death wish for this country.

Obama is nothing more than a stuffed suit, a marketing creation, puppet whose strings are pulled by those who conjured him up.

Mac is real, and it the right man for the job. Obama is a low level opportunist, inexperienced, all polish but no substance. God can you imagine this guy going head to head with our enemies?

I could see it now, "Gee Osama, or Gee Chavez or Gee Ahmajenidad - you were right all along, we really are terrible Americans that deserve your rath of an atomic bomb dropped on NYC."

Wake up you liberal fools! You are all a pawn in this sinister game.
- Tim, Wauwatosa, WI

ouch. this guy is toast.

the iraqis have endorsed obama's withdrawal plan, voters favor obama on the economy, and his overseas tour has become the media bonanza of the century.

mccain should just hang it up.
- jack, merrimack, NH

The media reports on whomever gets them better ratings, which usually happens to be the front runner, or the candidate making news. Since McCain is neither the front runner, nor making news, he gets ignored. Simple as that.
- Ivan, Chicago, IL

No suprise here. What is surprising is that Obama should have a 15 point lead at this time with all these variables, yet does not. The enthusiam level on the right is super low, yet there candidate is tied in all the polls. The ironic thing is, he will most likely win this election with or without the media's attention.
- jon, Elgin, IL

I'm a life long democrat and can honestly see the media bias towards Obama. I was supporter of his until recent events have shown me the real man. Truly, the emperor has no clothes. I will be supporting and voting for McCain for President. I don't agree with him on many issues but at least I respect the man for his views and accomplishments.
- Damian Howard, Boston, MA

The imbalance between the two candidates, I think, is less a product of this ephemeral "media bias" and more a product of the distinction between American politics-as-usual and a new, fresh face as candidate.

Many, many presidents and countless presidential candidates prior to McCain have been experienced white politicians who've tried for the presidency before in their lives. Many, many fewer have been relative-newcomer African-Americans.
- Andrew, Atlanta, GA

During the primaries news coverage was vastly lopsided with the Dem’s getting more coverage then the GOP but no one could deny the excitement and entries level being more compelling but the last two election cycle you had excitement and coverage more on the GOP side. This is politics but more importantly McCain when he goes on the attack or doesn’t paint a compelling vision for America so far has no one to blame but his campaign for the lack luster of coverage. On the morning show McCain must have said Obama’s name fifty times rather than just giving his vision and view on foreign policy. McCain seems to be giving more coverage to Obama himself.
- Crews2me, Silver Spring, MD

No one has ever accused the media of being fair in its reporting. The headline on The Drudge Report has proven that to be true (again).
- ed, greenville, sc

This reminds me of when Newt Gingrich's gay sister became big news, with the media following her and hanging on her every word. Newt said, "you know, I have another sister, too, who is an evangelical Christian". Nobody in the press gave a damn. To say there is a media bias in the current presidential election is a huge understatement.
- Mike, Bow

Oh Bubba from NH. Stop spreading rumors. Nobody is talking about replacing McCain. That's just a Dem blog rumor that is going around. No intelligent person would believe such a thing.
- Michelle, Stamford, CT

I'm sick of Obama. I want a leader for president, not a rock star celebrity.

I have never voted for a Republican ever in my life, but I will vote for McCain.
- Juan, Miami, FL

Neither of these canidates offer real change. Face it this election was decided months ago. Its just playing out in slow motion. THere both bought and paid for.
- John B, Hopkinton, NH

McCain's constant whining about Obama's media coverage is nauseating, since he's been the media darling for years.

If Obama made a fraction of the gaffes McCain has made ( Iraq bordering Pakistan, Bomb Bomb Iran medley, etc.) there would be wall to wall coverage of how unfit Obama is to lead the country.

In the words of Sen. Graham ... STOP WHINING!!!
- Dwayne, Jamaica, NY

I cannot believe all the hype with the network news following Obama around on his "fact finding"trip. I have never seen our news media act so blatently in favor of one candidate. I will never again watch any of these stations for their news coverage or programming. I was not that enthused with John McCain, however, after this total failing of our News Networks, I have made my choice, it can only be John McCain, because I can never believe anything the other networks report on their hero Obama, they simply are not capable of making an unbiased opinion faced on facts. this total farce of a news tour have pushed me over the edge away from Obama to John McCain. I can only hope he will pick Mitt Romney or bobby Jindal of LA for his running mate, so do what you do best John, ignore the news media and push your energy agenda to get us out of this mess we are now in!.
- Rita, Clayton, OK

1 reporter, and 1 photographer? Are all the rest in Israel with Obama?

Yet they even want to dispute there's no media bias.
- JPNC, Apex, NC

Sadly, the heavily biased press is doing all of Obama's campaigning for him. They have this celebrity love affair if not downright Messianic vision of him. At this point I am afraid that it does not matter what McCain [or any Conservative for that matter] says or does not say, or does, he will be pushed out and down and ridiculed while Obama is praised and protected by the media elite.
- Jerry, Yakima Washigton

A crowd of one... He's doing better. D.
- David G., Los Angeles, Ca

God bless McCain, the media has eviscerated his campaign through their decision to completely ignore him in favor of their darling Obama. Still, it may play to McCain's favor, considering that every time I watch the news I can't help but notice some new tidbit of controversy regarding Obama. Perhaps the media is doing him more harm than good.
- James, Auburn, AL

Just proves that a man who has dedicated his life to serving his country can be trumped by a man who has dedicated his life to serving himself!
- Troy, Hammond, LA

Voters are noticing the news media's bias toward Obama. I will backfire to McCain's advantage.
- Dr. Lee D. Cary, Mayhill, New Mexico

The reason nobody is covering this loser candidate is because he doesn't have a chance of winning the election. There is even talks amongst the Neocons to try and replace him with somebody else at the convention in Aug!!!
- bubba, rochester, NH

This is so typical of our left leaning press. They haven't attempted to conceal their bias during this campaign. The media has all but crowned Obama "King of America".
- Jerry Hagan, Mills River, NC
