Meghan McCain: NH, I'll get tattoo for you
By SUZANNE BATES
Union Leader Correspondent
Friday, Oct. 17, 2008
NASHUA – If Sen. John McCain wins the presidency in a little more than three weeks, his daughter said she'll tattoo "Live Free or Die" somewhere on her body.
Of course, he would have to win in New Hampshire, too, said Meghan McCain, who was in Nashua yesterday thanking volunteers at the McCain-Palin campaign office.
The tattoo, which would probably go on her wrist, would be her way of commemorating her father's run for the presidency, she said. It was in New Hampshire that McCain revived his faltering presidential bid during the presidential primary in January.
"New Hampshire is so important to me and my family," she said.
Earlier, McCain told a supporter that she would be "extremely depressed" if her dad loses in New Hampshire.
"More so than any other state," she said.
Made famous by her blog -- McCainBloggette.com (click for link)-- Meghan McCain has also been on the road publicizing her book for children, "My Dad, John McCain," appearing on national news and talk shows.
McCain signed several of her books yesterday as she greeted supporters.
"Thank you for buying it. It's beating the Obamas' children's book," she told one woman, with a smile.
McCain drove to New Hampshire yesterday morning in a Straight Talk Express Bus. She was traveling from Hofstra University on Long Island, N.Y., after watching her dad aggressively take on Sen. Barack Obama at Wednesday night's presidential debate.
"I'm glad he took the gloves off," she said of her father's performance.
She said her favorite line of the debate was when her father said, "I'm not President Bush."

Most of the time the attacks on her father roll off her back, she said, but she said she was extremely angry about a photo shoot of her father for the magazine "The Atlantic." The magazine hired a stridently Democratic photographer, who later told a blog that she left his eyes looking red and his skin looking bad on purpose.
"It's one of the most disturbing things that's ever happened to me in politics," the junior McCain said.
She also defended her father's attacks on Obama. There would be fewer attacks if Obama had agreed to the 10 town hall debates her father had suggested, she said, reiterating a point her father made during Wednesday's debate. After appearing in Nashua, McCain was off to Dover to thank volunteers there.

Meghan McCain: Joining the millions of other Americans that will stab themselves if John McCain gets elected.
- Joe Plume, Columbus Ohio
I know John McCain is an honorable man willing to admit his mistakes and take responsibility for them. He readily admits to making mistakes in his relationship with his first wife. He has done an excellent job of raising his children. He has served our country his whole adult life. I voted for him in the primaries in 2000 when he was smeared by George Bush with lies and hateful attacks. I imagine most Republicans wish that primary had come out differently now, I know I do. When it get down to the basics this time, we as voters have two choices for our next president. We must choose one. I know John McCain and I do not know Barak Obama. I have heard John McCain admit mistakes change his mind and redirect his focus. I have never heard Barak Obama admit a mistake. It may be that he never made one, but I would like to hear him admit to one to let me know there is enough humility in him to admit his mistakes and take responsibility for them. I will be voting for John McCain until that time.

Meghan McCain: Keep smiling pretty lady. The campaign gets ugly at the end...Ignore the dull witted and unenlightened for they cannot help themselves. Thank you for visiting our beautiful state. BTW...your blog site ROCKS!
Fellow bloggers: Obama's camp would not allow a HS student to sing the National Anthem as planned during his Londonderry appearance this week. Obama wanted more time for a speech!
Country First the McCain way 2008!
- DJ Alberts, Pelham
Coerce voters through sex appeal-- now there's a class act. Nothing short of what you'd expect from the distasteful campaign that's been running from the McCain side.
Meghan's blog is garbage and if it would allow comments, I would have told her directly. Hopefully when this campaign is over, she can hop back into school and try to get some education instead of palling around with airhead celebrities and muggin' it up for the camera on the campaign trail. Disappointment to youngsters nationwide.
Please do the right thing, NH. If McCain had been running 8 yrs ago- MAYBE. Not in 2008.
- Elliot Grahamme, Manchester
Jean, how can you say McCain earned his money? He married a beer heiress (whom he met and slept with while still married to his first wife). Everything else in your post is untrue as well, but the idea that McCain is a self-made man is laughable.
- Bob Scofield, New York, NY
Wow Michael, I know I've heard about a candidate that as you put "wants to take money from one group and redistribute it to another group." Oh, that's McCains $300B mortgage refinance fiasco.
- Jim Wilson, Manchester
Jean Holden--McCain married into a large portion of his wealth. Obama wrote 2 very successful books. Please get your facts straight.
- JB, NB, NH
How can you talk about the MCains wealth and not mention Obamas. He is not "one of us" hard working middle class. John McCain earned his money, while Obama was given kick-backs. Meghan McCain loves her father and believes in him, any parent would be proud of that. How can the people of NH, "Live free or Die" state stand back and believe everything this man says. His Minister preaches hate against white people and America and they have attended that church for many years. Obama will not pledge alliegance to our flag or have a young man sing the National Anthem at his rally, wake up NH and wake up America before it's to late, don't just take a candidates word as gospel, research and make an informed decision.

Jim Wilson, you, as an Obama supporter, might want to refrain from attacking another for letting money sway their actions.
After all, isn't that why Obama is so popular with the socialist crowd? He wants to take money from one group and redistribute it to another group.
At least the money you accuse Meghan McCain of wanting is from her parents and not complete strangers.
Ahhh, the liberal mind. How convoluted.
- Michael Paradis, Manchester
Please: someone tell Meghan not to bother making a tattooist appointment.
- JRS, Claremont
Barbara,
I definitely would have trashed Hillary had Chelsea stated that she had conservative beliefs, voted Bush in '04 and changed her affiliation to her parents party after the primaries. Meghan only started drinking the GOP Kool-Aid when her trust fund was threatened.
- Jim Wilson, Manchester
Is anyone who was going to vote for Obama going to be like "Well, if McCain's daughter is going to get a Live Free or Die tattoo, I will vote for McCain instead."? If they are, they probably shouldn't even go to the polls if they are going to make that uninformed of a decision.
- Jeff, Manchester
Promising a tattoo in exchange for votes...that seems pretty desperate to me.
- Jeff, Manchester
Mr. Feltner, where were are these loyal republicans when McCaine ran against Bush eight years ago? Why did you feel Bush was more qualified than McCaine? Please don't tell me you bought into that whole black baby thing concocted by Rove. McCaine has gone on record claiming he voted with Bush 90% of the time....so what makes you think he is going to stop giving to the rich and big business and pay attention to those making less than 250K a year?
- Jim Smith, Merrimack NH
Dear McCains,
you can't spend more than you earn
you have to earn respect by setting an example and hard work does pay off.
Northern NH has ethics and values and knows these times are tough and going to get tougher, but we will survive -our way with dignity and honor - not lies and smooth talk which means nothing in the end. Lets hope the rest of NH & this country smarten up quick!
- Kristina M von Dohrmann, Jefferson NH
So Jim, did you trash Clinton for having her daughter campaign for her in an attempt to bridge the gap to younger voters? I doubt it. You're a pretty sad person when you sit there and write a blog trashing the daughter of a presidential candidate.
And to Amy: I feel that Clinton's daughter should be off limits as well as long as her support for her parent (the presidential candidate) remains respectful by talking about their father (or mother) and not attacking the opposing candidate. Regardless if it is a "hard reality," even Obama said kids are off limits. He even wants his wife off limits as well. My point in my comment was that some people on here say some pretty nasty things on these blogs and I would hope that even an Obama supporter would have some dignity and not attack the daughter of a presidential candidate as one individual already has on here.
- Barbara Manning, Manchester, New Hampshire
Don't worry Meghan. You won't need to worry about deciding where to put the tattoo... it won't happen :)
- Chris Harris, Goffstown,NH
Barbara Manning- when you a) run for president and b) have your children campaign for you, you are saying they are "fair game". Remember Chelsea Clinton aka "The White House dog?". It's a cruel reality.
- Amy Saunders, Salem NH
Wow, another phony McCain. She said in GQ in March that she was "liberal on social issues" and voted for Kerry in 2004. After failed attempts as a music journalist, journalist, comedy writer and fashion designer, she miracoulously changed her party affiliation to Republican on June 12, 2008 according to her own blog because "as a symbol of my commitment to my dad and to represent the faith I have in his ability to be an effective leader for our country and to grow and strengthen the Republican party when he is elected President of the United States."...and after primary season.
A symbol that Mommy and Daddy weren't letting her stay in one of their 7 houses. It's not like they have a chance, but don't hold your breathe waiting for this tattoo should the highly improbable happen. This campaign is using this semi attractive daughter to counteract the huge youth following that a real inspiring leader has.
- Jim Wilson, Manchester
This is just a warning to the Obama camp. If I see one post smearing or attacking Sen. McCain's children on this blog, I will be IRATE and I hope that regardless of one's choice for president, as both candidates have said, we do not trash the children. They should remain off limits. She has respectfully campaigned for her father as his daughter and deserves respect from both parties.
Anyways, thank you Meghan for visiting our state and what has been come to be called "John McCain's second home state." Regardless of what happens, please know that we have worked so diligently for your father and will always look at him as NH's adopted son.
- Barbara Manning, Manchester, New Hampshire
Don't worry Meghan, we are doing everything we can to get a McCain victory here in NH. McCain has always stood by John McCain and we will continue to do our best to be sure that NH stands up for McCain as well. Your father has done a lot for us personally in single handedly saving NH's primary statue among the Republican party. True NH voters love and respect your father and the direction he will lead this country. We thank him for his dedication to this state and pray that NH recognizes how important it is to vote for McCain once again.
- Ryan Feltner, Manchester, New Hampshire
She's pretty hot! I am now hoping that the creepy McCain wins. I would tatoo myself for her in a heartbeat.
Does she like "extremely" financially secure men (famous rich guys)?
Then I might have a chance! LOL ..DOH
- tomen8r, Hooksett
Wow, his daughter is hot
