Patriots coach Bill Belichick speaks in Foxborough, Mass. yesterday after Sunday's 35-34 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. (AP)

CRUSHED is how Shannon Sullivan described it, that poisoned butterflies in the stomach feeling of witnessing Bill Belichick's fourth-quarter gamble backfire Sunday around midnight.

If Tom Brady had time to survey the field, no one would be proposing that Bill Belichick check himself into a nearby asylum.

Two games, two wins.

The Manchester Monarchs improved to 2-0-0 on the season with a 2-1 win at Norfolk last night. The teams will play again tonight at Norfolk (0-2-0) at 7:15. Manchester visits Hershey tomorrow night at 7 p.m. for the finale of its three-game road trip.

After a scoreless first period, Drew Bagnall made it 1-0 Monarchs at 1:20 of the second period. Former University of Maine standout Mike Lundin appeared to tie the game with 8:01 remaining in the third period but the play was ruled to have been offsides.

Shortly after the goal was disallowed, Oscar Moller scored for the Monarchs to make it 2-0. Norfolk's Brandon Bochenski then scored at 16:02 to make it a 2-1 game and spoil Jonathan Bernier's shutout bid. Bernier finished with 41 saves and Scott Parse assisted on both Manchester goals.

NOTES: Left wing Richard Clune was activated by the Kings yesterday and assigned to the Monarchs.

Clune was on the injured reserve list. The 5-foot-10 inch, 198-pound Toronto native played in 35 games with the Monarchs last year and recorded nine points (3-6-9) and 87 penalty minutes.
