this is not a new problem... junkies steal anything for a fix, how is that so hard to comprehend???? If it was for a poor family they would have only taken one or two ... hello 23???? sounds like a cut case of a junkie looking for money somewhere somehow for a fix

With a cleaned up past and bright future ahead of me, I do have some knowledge of the so called," baby food scam". If they were using it to cut drugs, "cocaine typically", That would be enough to cut 5-6 kilos of the stuff. And it they have that amount, thay can afford to buy it, trust me. That amont of baby food and the stolen car were breing brought done to MASS and resold to buy drugs only. People who don't know anything about something, should keep there mouths closed. On the cost of baby food, supply and demand. If you can't afford to feed your children, DON"T HAVE ANY. (Proud father of 4 beutiful children) No assitance here, thank you.

Child's Play... NOBODY steals baby formula to sell by itself on the black market or for any good causes referred to! They add it to cocaine and heroine and cut it up to sell. Like adding water to milk. Dealer's can get more money for drugs by thinning the mix. If anyone sees someone loading a basket or carriage with baby formula PLEASE tell someone who works at the store immediately! It could help hit two birds with one stone. Drugs and Theft.
- Thomas, Weare

Raymour in Amherst, you're very naive. The perps who steal formula sell it on the black market, often "extended" by adulterating it with other substances. Live in the real world, please.
- Adam F., Merrimack

As with ny theft the person should be taken in front of a judge. As many people don't know baby formula is also used for making drugs. I would guess that if the person also stole a car he is not using it to feed his child.

I don't think it is acceptable to steal anything. While I was forced to pay the cost of formula as a young mother as my daughter got older, not only did I have to pay the outrageously high price, I had to pay for the special allergenic kind. There are places you can go to get help with formula. I worked hard for my money to pay for my daughter's needs. And for those who can't make ends meet, there is always WIC. You don't have to steal anything regardless of the contents. Joe Criminal with the stolen formula driving off in the stolen car is no Robin Hood. I don't understand how anyone could condone it. No excuse!

Formula is so high because of thefts like this, anytime things are stolen from stores costs have to go up to compensate. It was 23 cans not just one, so no way should this go unnoticed, there are programs to help people get formula and food pantrys in the area that provide formula when they have it. I didnt read anything about a stolen vehicle, the man led them on a chase and got away.

Sure, and while they’re at it, why don’t they look the other way every time something is stolen that can / might / maybe be used for something good? This way, people who actually pay for things can pay a ton more for the same things because they are actually paying for it! Good sense, I totally agree. NOT!
Oh, and then there was also the little part about the stolen car. Should they look the other way there too? Palease!

However, can someone explain to me why on earth baby formula is $12.99 per can? Doesn’t that seem just a bit high?
- Craig D, Manchester

This is a unique incident in which I believe the police should use their discretion in pursuing this case. I think it is clear that the product stolen is probably being used for a worthwhile purpose. I trust that the formula is probably not being resold on some "baby formula black market." Let the insurance
company pick up the tab for this one...
