Power back on to most in New Hampshire
Monday, Nov. 30, 2009
All but a few of the estimated 50,000 homes that lost electricity Saturday were out of the dark last night.
The power failures were caused by heavy snowfall up north and high winds throughout the state.
Public Service Company of New Hampshire reported 800 customers, most in the Newport and Lancaster areas, were still without power and estimated almost all would have their power restored by the end of the night. The company reported 45,000 customers lost power Saturday.
PSNH said 90 additional repair crews from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and Vermont joined its own crews yesterday to repair the lines.
New Hampshire Electric Co-op said power had been restored to all but 55 customers, most in Stewartstown and Pittsburg, by late afternoon.
