Reinhold pushing Richardson's run
By CAROL ROBIDOUX

MANCHESTER – Actor Judge Reinhold has a new supporting role -- stumping for Democratic Presidential candidate Bill Richardson.
"I don't consider myself a political person. I'm just a grateful citizen of the state of New Mexico," Reinhold said Saturday night, during one of several stops on behalf of Richardson in the Granite State over the weekend.
"I've seen other celebrities go down in flames while supporting candidates. It's not enough to be sincere. You have to be accurate, too. I'm just here to talk about Bill's accomplishments. I want people to know what he's already done," Reinhold said.
That a second-tier candidate like Richardson is supported by an actor like Reinhold, 50, known best for his supporting roles in more than 75 films, including all three "Beverly Hills Cops" movies, "The Santa Clause" and its sequels, and "Ruthless People" seems somehow appropriate.
But what they may lack in A-list star power, both make up for with work ethic.
Reinhold said he saw the opportunity to spread the gospel of his governor to those who may not fully appreciate what Richardson did to turn things around in New Mexico.
"When he first took office, I remember scratching my head and thinking, Why would someone leave such a prestigious international position to govern an impoverished state?' But he wasn't intimidated," Reinhold said. "We called him the solution looking for a problem."
Latest polls show Richardson still trailing a distant fourth behind Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards, his popularity ratings stuck for months in the single digits.
Reinhold said the only thing left for Richardson to do to win votes now is hope the public takes a serious look at his resume.
"The people need to hear the message and review his record. This is a crucial time for a diplomatic leader, someone who can really represent good will," Reinhold said.
"He has the greatest skill set on both sides of this race," Reinhold said. "You would only know this if you campaigned with him, but Bill is constantly taking calls from big world leaders. He's been the go-to guy for years for the White House. It's time for everyone to see what he has to offer."
