Repealing "Don't ask, don't tell" may be the right thing to do, but there's only one reason to do it: military effectiveness.

Didn't that Manchester bank robber last week know that if you are going to rob a bank on Elm Street, ManchVegas, you are supposed to tape a tree to your head?

Robert Novak: Will Hussein's 'bagman' create problems for candidate Obama?
By ROBERT D. NOVAK
Tuesday, Mar. 4, 2008
AS SEN. Barack Obama nears the Democratic presidential nomination, a corruption trial of his former fund-raiser Antoin (Tony) Rezko on charges of influence peddling began in Chicago. Sen. Hillary Clinton's operatives have tried frantically, but not effectively, to interest U.S. news media outside Chicago in Obama's possible connection with his home state's latest major scandal.

I wonder how the posters on this story would feel if W was connected to a fund raiser who had ties to the Oil and Food Scandal. We constantly hear about the Haliburton claims to no end from you lefties but when your hero Obama gets connected to shady business dealings, you start attacking a journalist who is only doing his job. Valerie Plame was nothing more than a CIA spook who planted her husband into the role of shaping foreign policy. Robert Novack asked legitimate questions about how Joe Wilson a known Bush critic got the job of investigating the yellow cake claim. Plame planted her husband to try to discredit the president because of political differences not because of facts as British Inteligence and Iraqi officials have acknowledged the story. Novack broke the story and should be applauded not criticized. He exposed the corruption at the CIA and also the incompetence as our own CIA director said that WMDs in Iraq was a slam dunk. A free press is very important to a democratic society as it keeps our government beholden to its people. Stop attacking the messenger and actually think about the message.

Hey fellas, read beyond the first sentence: Hillary and her operatives are the ones pushing the Rezko story, not the evil Republicans. By the way, if you think it's OK for the Chicago Sun-Times to dig into the story, but not for Novak to report it, that pretty much makes you a totalitarian.

This has "Whitewater" scandal written all over it. A media-manufactured scandal to tear down a politician? Tim Russert couldn't smirk enough during his question. Either Republican or Democrat, the media loves a good throwdown. Bonus points for including "teh scary Muslims."
What bothers me is that it was the Clinton campaign that set this up. After the Whitewater mess, one would think that she would be empathetic towards a "made up" scandal vilifying an unsuspecting investor. This is why I don't like Hillary; she is using Rove-Republican tricks and making them her own. I hope the DNC rejects this "scandal." They'd be hypocritical if they didn't.

Gee, Mike, the fact that Mr. Auchi was indeed a bagman for the late unlamented Sadam Hussein makes Novak's headline legitimate. And Herself conveniently forgets that Mr. Rezko donated to her and the Impeached ex-President, too. Wonder how Norman Hsu's doing? Anybody heard from Winkle Paw? Trying to smear Mr. Obama with his association with a big-time Democrat fundraiser who distributes money and favors throughout the Democrat Party is a bit lame.

Why should it have any effect on Obama? Publishing in a national newspaper the name of one our undercover agents (Valerie Plame) has had no effect on Novak. I thought that this was treason, didn't you?
- Robert, Deerfield
I see the GOP shills are pulling the old "Obama is a Muslim" smear again. This smacks of desperation. Robert Novak is supposed to be a serious, respectable journalist. Although he is the one who aided Karl Rove and co. in the outing of Valerie Plame, a CIA agent working on weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East. So I guess this type of headline is really not all that far out of character for him. How sad that Republicans cannot win a battle of ideas so instead the must attempt to smear anyone they go up against. Shameful. They should have a debate be on the issues instead of using Obamas' middle name in an attempt to scare people into thinking Obama is a Muslim, which he is not. It's going to backfire. America is tired of fearmongering politicians and their shills like Robert Novak. It's time for change, it's time for hope again. Our long national nightmare is just about over, but don't expect the rats to leave the sinking ship quietly.
