Why hasn't this been all over the news? This came out over a year ago and this is the second time I have seen or heard about it. Someone was trying to keep it hush hush. And this man did not need the money so who knows why people get so greedy. I knew his father and he was an outstanding man who I'm sure passed on good values to his children. But we all stray off the trail every now and then I guess.

this guy could have created a cure for cancer, it doesn't excuse what he did.
If it looks like scum, walks like scum or talks like scum.... is this scum?

I find it interesting that a thief who breaks into your house and steals $1,000 is considered a burglar and goes to prison for years, and yet a man who steals millions and has a much greater impact on people's lives than the burglar, gets four years. He should be in jail for 20 years! Why is white collar crime OK? Something is wrong with the system. Is it because he doesn't look like a threat to us all?
- Harry, Manchester

Absolutely despicable!

Not to condone or excuse what Mr. Tessier did, but his years spent as a Water Commissioner were instrumental in creating a top notch water science education program that has reached out the students of Manchester since 1994. My thoughts are with his family.

While I agree the sentence is light, the story indicates a substantial amount of money has been repaid to the vicitms...this fact is probably what allowed the light sentence. Besides, we need to keep cells open for when we catch someone smoking pot, right?

It's just sick that this man will spend more time in jail than a Child Molester or a repeated drunk driver! While I agree he committed a crime and deserves to be punished, the justice system is totally whacked.
- Julie, Manchester

4 years, what a joke! If you or I had done the crime, we would rot in jail!
- Pamela, Bedford

UL - fact checking might come in handy from time to time. I'd think considering you're a "news" paper you'd do that with all of your stories. There is no institution called the Harvard Medical School Infirmary. He works for the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary; a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. I think that might have taken you about two minutes to find on your own.

This guy is a clown. What makes people think they WILL/CAN get away with something so stupid. This guy went to law shcool for what, 8 years, and yet he is this stupid? I just don't get it, never have, never will!
- RP, Manchester

Wow!!An officer of the court.Hard to believe one who is to uphold the law could acted in such a criminal fashion.Must have been the years of being around his clients that it entered his blood.Based on his lineage, he could never have acted in such a way. Thanks for the final sentence.Maybe now,as he is rehabilitating,he can give all his energy to his memoir!!
- Louie, Manchester

Tessier is another example of the "me-first" and "greed" philosophies at work. It is too bad that his penalty is for such a short time.
