A volunteer firefighter is charged with setting fire to commercial logging equipment last week.

Christopher Millspaugh, 21, of Candia was arrested yesterday on two counts of arson, according to police chief Michael McGillen and New Hampshire State Fire Marshal J. William Degnan.

The joint investigation is ongoing and, authorities said, Millspaugh may face additional charges.

The fire happened on May 14 near 85 Flint Road.

Officer Kevin Cashman said a 2001 Forwarder, worth $125,000, was heavily damaged in the blaze. A forwarder is a vehicle that carries logs to a roadside landing.

Millspaugh, who Cashman said is a volunteer firefighter, also allegedly attempted to set fire to a 2006 Harvester. A harvester is a heavy piece of equipment with a large claw used to delimb and cut down trees.

The logging equipment is owned by Moose Mountain Logging Co. of Brookfield, Cashman said.

Anyone with additional information concerning the blaze is asked to call the fire marshal's "Arson Hotline" at 1-800-400-3526 or police at 483-2318.
