Regan Hartley won the Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Pageant Saturday and now goes on to compete in the Miss America contest in January.

The new Miss New Hampshire was among 27 contestants from across the state who competed in the pageant held at Pinkerton Academy in Derry Saturday.

Hartley, 20, is Miss Keene Area. She lives in Dover and graduated from Portsmouth Christian Academy in 2009. She currenty is a student at Suffolk University in Boston where she is majoring in public relations and marketing, said Cindi Rice Conley, spokesman for the Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program spokesman.

A vocalist, Hartley sang On My Own from the musical Les Miserables for her talent piece.

The Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program is a state chapter of the Miss America organization. It awards scholarships that can only be used toward education, Conley said.

Hartley claimed the $15,000 prize plus several thousand dollars in gifts from program sponsors, Conley said. They include a coat made from fisher fur valued at $7,000 and donated by the New Hampshire Trappers Association.
