16 cats, kittens found stuffed in crates
MANCHESTER – Someone dumped 16 cats and kittens, stuffed into two pet crates, on the side of South Beech Street Friday.
The cats, some as young as a week old, were found by a Manchester woman who then alerted the Manchester Animal Shelter, according to a statement released by shelter.
All of the cats and kittens are being treated for flea infestations and upper respiratory illnesses, according to the shelter.
“The large number of cats and kittens brought in to an already crowded shelter puts a strain on the space needed to house and care for these animals,” said Shelley Greenglass, the shelter's manager.
The shelter is looking for donations to help pay for the care of the abandoned animals. They are also looking for any information on the person who dumped the cats.
The shelter can be contacted at 628-3544.
