TILTON — Police arrested a Meredith woman Thursday in connection with the Nov. 4 robbery of Kay Jewelers at the Tanger Outlets, a brazen crime that shocked the Lakes Region.

Katie T. Falls, 28, of Meredith allegedly drove the robbers to and from the outlets, police said in a statement. Tilton and Meredith police arrested her Thursday, and she was held overnight on $10,000 cash bail.

“More arrests in this armed robbery are expected in the near future, but at this time I cannot discuss the details,” Police Chief Robert Cormier said in the statement.

The November robbery earned grudging respect from police for its efficiency. The FBI joined the investigation, and Kay Jewelers offered a $5,000 reward for help in finding the culprits.

Wearing Halloween masks and black hooded sweatshirts, three robbers took two minutes to enter the store, order customers and employees to the ground, smash display cases and leave with more than $200,000 worth of jewelry.

At least one showed a gun.

“It was a very violent crime which terrorized the store employees and patrons,” Cormier said in the statement.

Police said they conducted several interviews during the course of an eight-week investigation. When they spoke to Merrybeth Miner, she claimed that Falls was the get-away driver, Cormier said.

In an interview with police, Falls admitted being the driver and gave details of the crime that had not been released to the public, Cormier said.

Falls was arraigned Friday morning in Franklin District Court, where bail was set at $50,000 cash.

No plea can be entered at a district court arraignment on a felony charge.
