As a tax-paying resident of Candia, I applaud Ingrid Byrd for standing up and casting a vote for a school budget she believes is in the best interest of the town and its residents. And shame on the School Board for pressuring her to do otherwise AND demanding she not run for re-election (that would be MY suggestion to the rest of the board...). Board chair Deb LeBlond should also be taken to task for violating the state's Right-to-Know law by meeting illegally.

And in the interest of full disclosure, the UL story might have noted that Ms. LeBlond and Ms. Byrd are two of the three candidates vying for two open school board seats. Makes the board chair's demand that her rival resign more than a little self-serving.

Carmelle: You apparently haven't been following this very closely. Ingrid was a school board member sitting as the board's respresentive on the budget committee. She took an oath of office to represent the interests of the school board and NOT her own personal opinion which she directly violated. There was no pressure...it was HER DUTY to duty to vote in support of the school board and she didn't. The reason why the school board's budget passed today at the deliberative session is that people are sick and tired of the shananigans that Ingrid and the majority of the Budget Comittee have been trying to pull. I applaud the School Board for sticking up to these bullies and not bowing to their level funded agenda. Finally...the UL had no reason to note that there are 3 candidates vying the for the 2 seats. At the time her resignation was requested on Thursday evening, only Mrs. LeBlond and Ingrid had filed for for the 2 open seats. The only agenda was to chastise Ingrid for acting unethically and not in the best interests of the School Board which many Candia tax payers had demanded be done.

And in the interest of full disclosure, I'd have more respect for Ingrid if she resigned as the Budget Committee representative before she sabotaged the School Board by voting against their budget. She did her damage and there was nothing left for her to do. It's a lame duck resignation. How can you want a fellow board member to serve with you again if they have lied to you and acted unethically? The Chair was well within her right to ask Ingrid not to run. She can't be trusted anymore.
