Pole downed; driver found and arrested
The impact downed the pole and a transformer according to the Manchester Fire Department. Valley Street was closed for several blocks, and officials expected traffic would have to be rerouted for several hours.
Police said the accident took place shortly before 10 p.m. when a Toyota pickup struck the pole at Valley and Alger streets and took off. Electrical service was disrupted in the area, police said.
Police eventually found the pickup around Somerville and Norris streets. The driver, Eric Faust, 31, of Dracut, Mass., was arrested and charged with conduct after an accident.
