Sunapee man, 36, dies in Stewartstown snowmobile crash
STEWARTSTOWN — A 36-year-old Sunapee man was killed when he crashed his snowmobile in the Piper Hill area early Saturday morning.
Fish and Game Department conservation officers are investigating the crash that killed Jason Montambeault, and said speed and alcohol both appear to be contributing factors.
Montambeault was last seen by two companions around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, crossing a field in the direction of his camp, according to a Fish and Game press release.
He never arrived at the camp and his friends believed he may have gone to visit relatives at another camp.
Shortly after sunup, friends contacted a cousin of Montambeault who was staying at a nearby camp. His cousin started searching the area on his snowmobile and came upon the crash scene, locating Montambeault's body off a trail about two miles from the camp, according to Fish and Game.
Authorities were notified of the fatal crash around 9 a.m.
