H.S. Football: Shrine Bowl roster announced
Rosters for the 59th Annual Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl, representing the top senior players from the 2011 season from New Hampshire were released Tuesday.
The summer classic will be played Aug. 4 on Dartmouth College's Memorial Field, pitting the Granite State against Vermont. The Vermont Shrine Team is coached by Mike Norman of Rutland High School and New Hampshire by Mike Beliveau of Souhegan High School.
The New Hampshire roster will represent a total of 27 high school teams. The two teams will meet on Sunday, March 18 with their respective coaches to review game plans and formal practices will begin on July 26 for both teams at Kimball Union Academy in Meriden.
The Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl is played for the benefit of the Shriners' Hospitals for Crippled and Burned Children and in its first 58 years has raised nearly five million dollars.
The Bowl Game is one of 30 Shrine games played every year across the country. The twin state game is sponsored by the three Shrine Centers of New Hampshire and Vermont, Bektash (Concord), Cairo (Rutland, Vt.) and Mt. Sinai (Montpelier, Vt.
