Pinkerton freshman is state's top bowler
MANCHESTER — Rayna Stubbs won four matches in a row and the freshman from Pinkerton Academy of Derry was the winner of the NHIAA individual bowling championship at Spare Time Manchester on Saturday.
Stubbs rolled a 186 in the championship round to beat fellow freshman Zack Amodio of Merrimack, who bowled a 173. Josh Auclair of Raymond came in third place and Nick Stillian of Pinkerton, who had the highest average during the regular season, was fourth.
Participants bowled three strings in the morning to determine seeding. The top 16 advanced to the championship flight, and from that point on it was head-to-head elimination. It took a 172 average to qualify for the top 16, up from 136 a year ago.
