Lebanon man arrested after four-hour standoff

April 03. 2012 8:15AM

LEBANON - A local man was arrested late Monday afternoon after a four-hour standoff with police.

David Lyons, 29, of Granite Street, is charged with simple assault.

The incident began about 1:20 p.m. when police received a report of a domestic-related assault at a Granite Street residence. When officers arrived, Lyons refused to come out, police said in a press release.

As a result, police called in its containment team, evacuated nearby homes and diverted traffic from the immediate area.

School bus routes also were altered, and children living in the immediate area were dropped off at the Sacred Heart School. Parents were asked to pick them up there.

Its a situation that obviously were trying to keep students away from it, Cohen said.

The standoff ended peacefully after four hours. Lyons was taken into custody and the residence searched after investigators obtained warrants.
