Some Comcast Cable Communications customers were without the company’s email service Wednesday, a company spokesman said.

“We are aware that some Comcast residential Internet customers may not be able to log into comcast.net email,” Comcast spokesman Marc Goodman said. By 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, the service was restored, he said.

Goodman said the company’s Internet service was not affected by the disruption, which only affected email service through Comcast and not through other email service carriers. He did not have a timeframe for when service would be restored to all customers.

“Our engineers are working to determine the root cause,” he said. “We apologize for any inconvenience.”
