Lavigne stepping down as PSU coach

Lauren Lavigne will continue her relationship with Plymouth State University in a different capacity.

The college announced Monday she’s stepping down as the head women’s basketball coach and will assume additional administrative duties in the athletic department. A 1994 PSU graduate, Lavigne played four years for the Panthers before embarking on a coaching career 14 years ago.

“I’ve had the privilege of devoting 20 years of my life (at PSU),” said Lavigne. “I played here, was an assistant here, and (served) as the head coach. I have loved every minute of it.”

Under Lavigne, the Panthers won two ECAC New England championships. PSU made consecutive ECAC Tournament appearances in 2009 and 2010, advancing to the championship game in 2010. The Panthers posted four consecutive 20-win seasons under Lavigne.

She leaves the program as the all-time winningest coach with a 190-183 record. Including two years previously as head coach at Endicott, her 16-year career record stands at 210-212.

A native of Bedford, Lavigne is a past president of the New England Women’s Basketball Association. She was inducted into the Queen City Hall of Fame in Manchester in 2001. She was also one of New Hampshire Union Leader’s 40-Under-40 in 2010, recognizing 40 top community leaders under the age of 40.
