Senate kills abortion waiting period
CONCORD - Women will not have to wait 24 hours to have an abortion, after the Senate killed Senate Bill 295 Wednesday.
The waiting period was killed by the Senate, but the House added the provision to SB 295, which would expand the research and development business tax credit.
A provision to allow employers with religious objections to deny contraceptive coverage in health insurance plans is barely alive, as the Senate decided to ask the House to attempt to negotiate a compromise on Senate Bill 356. Several senators clearly said the provision would have to be removed from the bill or there would be no agreement.
