MOULTONBOROUGH — The Friends of the Moultonborough Library are once again planning a house tour on June 28.

Jane Harrington and Carole Smith co-chair this event, which returns after a three-year hiatus, according to the event’s publicity volunteer, Mil Toczko.

The house tour is the major fundraising event for the library group. The money raised supports cultural and educational programs for adults and children. They also provide assistance to the library in acquiring supplemental furnishings and equipment.

Friends President Marianne Rapp and member Noel Ainscow are organizing hostesses for each home and still need many volunteers to help. Others working behind the scene include Dottie and Roger Simpson, who will take charge of balloons, signs and posters. Library staffers have printed flyers and tickets. Jordan Prouty is handling the insurance, and Kathy Seder, Paul Smith, and Susan Amiss are in charge of providing gifts.

The tour will feature six dwellings, one of which is a bed & breakfast with an interesting history. None of these homes have been shown in past tours. Volunteers are needed at each home to direct guests, provide information regarding the home, and assist with parking. One of the homes features craftsmen-style furnishings, with views of the Belknap mountains and Gunstock ski resort. Another outstanding feature is a three-season cooks porch with state-of-the-art indoor grill. The atmosphere of the lower level is suited for recreation complete with cooking station. The route to a restored traditional boathouse passes a stone patio at waters edge and a large deck.

Another home on the tour is an open concept Adirondack-style lakefront home with unique collections and furnishings.

The tour includes an antique farmhouse built in the 1800s and located on spacious grounds. This home still has its original hand-hewn beams that predate the house, and wide plank flooring. The home is decorated with original art and antique furnishings and wallpaper.

Tickets are now on sale for the June 28 House Tour and are available at both the Moultonborough Library and Bayswater Books. Tickets are $35. With the ticket, all the needed information will be provided as to the location and directions. Volunteers will receive a discount on the ticket price.
