Minor injuries in school bus-car accident in Milton

MILTON — Four students and one adult were taken to the hospital for minor bumps and bruises after being involved in a car-school bus accident Wednesday afternoon.

Police, firefighters and emergency personnel responded at 2:30 p.m. to the intersection of Steeple and Silver streets where the accident happened. It’s within sight of the Milton Elementary School.

Asst. Fire Chief Devon Pageau said there were 27 students and a driver on the bus, which had moderate damage, and at least three passengers in the other vehicle.

“We checked the ones who were complaining of injuries,” Pageau said, adding firefighters evaluated a total of eight people and sent the other students back to school.

Pageau said school officials called parents of the students, who were picked up later.

Ambulances from Milton, Farmington and Wakefield transported four children — including two from the car — and one adult to Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He added they all appeared to have sustained minor injuries. Three others were treated at the scene and released.

The accident remains under investigation by Milton Police and members of N.H. State Police, who will assist as the bus is a commercial vehicle.
