Kuster files for 2nd District congressional seat

CONCORD — Democrat Ann McLane Kuster of Hopkinton filed to run again for the Second Congressional seat Thursday, surrounded by family, friends and supporters.

Kuster lost a close race to Republican U.S. Rep. Charlie Bass in the 2010 election and seeks a rematch in this presidential election year.

“We’re going to get this done,” Kuster said as she filed her papers with Secretary of State Bill Gardner. “We’re going to win this one.”

She said voters are fed up with a broken Congress and she will bring a new approach.

“The needs of working families in New Hampshire are not being met,” Kuster said. “We need to be creating good jobs at home and getting New Hampshire families good jobs.”

She said voters are very tuned in to the controversies in the State House and in Congress that are distracted by social issues. “They want people to come together and get the job done and with civility,” Kuster said as supporters lined the State House hall leading to the Secretary of State’s office.

Her supporters rallied outside the State House after she filed.

Also filing Thursday were a number of Republican state senators: District 1, Frank Dumaine of Colebrook and Debi Warner of Littleton; District 7, Joshua F. Youssef of Laconia; District 9, Andy Sanborn of Bedford; District 14, incumbent Sharon M. Carson of Londonderry; District 20, Phil Greazzo of Manchester; And District 22, incumbent Chuck Morse of Salem.
