Dartmouth's D'Agostino wins NCAA 5,000-meter crown
Dartmouth sophomore Abbey D’Agostino won the national championship in the 5,000 meters event by just three-hundredths of a second Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
D’Agostino’s win is the first ever individual national title for the program. She edged out Washington’s Megan Goethals with a time of 16:11.34, while Goethals was credited with a time of 16:11.37.
Dartmouth finished tied for 14th place with 16 team points. That placement is another program best, surpassing the 27th-place finish in 1991.
