BRENTWOOD — Prosecutors have been granted more time to seek an indictment against a Raymond man charged with the murder of Robert Scott Dickinson.

A judge recently approved extending the 90-day deadline for the case against Damien Tisbert, 20, who is charged with second-degree murder.

Tisbert is accused of hitting Dickinson, 50, in the head, stabbing him in the torso and slicing his throat in the early morning hours of March 25, court records say.

Police believe the murder happened around 2 a.m. at Dickinson’s home on 14 Floral Ave.

Dickinson’s body was found inside about 6 p.m.

Tisbert was arrested in Manchester a day after the killing.

Prosecutors have not revealed how Tisbert and Dickinson knew one another or the circumstances leading up to the death.

Witnesses said in earlier interviews that Dickinson and Tisbert were seen at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall in Raymond hours before the murder.

Affidavits for the arrest and search warrants in the case remain under court seal.

Tisbert waived his probable cause hearing in April following his arrest.

That hearing would have given him a glimpse of the evidence state police used to charge him with second-degree murder.

It’s unknown why prosecutors wanted more time or how long they have in presenting their case to a grand jury. State prosecutors made their request for an extension to seek an indictment under seal, so only a judge could review it.

Judge Marguerite Wageling approved the extension on May 17, according to court records.

Tisbert is being held without bail at the Rockingham County jail. He faces life in prison on the murder charge if convicted.
