Manchester man attacked while walking dogs

MANCHESTER - A man walking his dogs near Union and Harrison streets was attacked Friday night in an attempted mugging.

Police said the incident happened about 11:30 p.m. The 56-year-old man was walking his dogs when he was hit in the back of the head and neck and knocked to the ground.

He looked up to see a man standing over him demanding his wallet. When he said he didn’t have one, the robber pulled something out of his pocket, which police said the victim believed was a knife but was not positive.

The robber and his apparent accomplice, who was acting as a lookout across the street, suddenly left, fleeing south on Union Street.

The robber is described as a white man, 19 to 20 years old, about 5-foot-11 to 6-feet tall and 170 pounds. He had short dark hair and was last seen wearing a red jersey with the number “80” on it. The only description of the lookout is he is a shorter, white man.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 668-8711. Anonymous tips for cash rewards may be made through Manchester Crimeline at 624-4040 or online at manchestercrimeline.org.
