NHPR: 40 years on, Title IX still reshaping college athletics

Opening doors and closing them, Title IX has also caused collateral damage, some say. Nick Knowles, a former wrestler at Virginia's Liberty University, is one of many athletes in so-called minor men's sports who say they've been bumped so their school can comply with Title IX, which requires the percentage of female athletes to equal the percentage of female students.
